Epson R2880... Superb printer and well worth the premium price

...I ordered myself an Epson R2880 from Amazon, they had almost the best price £499.99 delivered. At the time, they also had Epson 3 year extended warranty packs for £35, so I grabbed one of these too. The printer was delivered free in three days. Upon receipt and opening the massive box, it was instantly apparent that the R2880 is built really well. It has some real weight to it, and the panels all line up superbly. The opening top lid opens smoothly too and has some resistance to it, so does not just bag shut again. Around the back it is very simple, power cord socket, plus two USB connections, so you can easily connect to two different computers at the same time. ...Having been in the market to downsize my old hi fi for something more compact, I've settled on the Teac reference 300 mkIII with DAB tuner. Its a 3 box system as opposed to the other smaller one box systems manufactured by Teac and others such as Denon, Arcam and Onkyo. As such, although being larger, it is more user friendly to use and has more power at 45 wpc RMS. At around £500 rrp it stands up favourably in price to the Arcam Solo Mini and comes in silver or black finish with machined aluminium fronts and a classy blue display on each unit. It actually appears slightly retro in appearance although the remotes are a bit cheap looking. The silver units can be found for as little as £349 without speakers so its quite a bargain. ...I have owned a Honda Civic Type R (2005 Model) for around six months now. I had many concerns about the car before buying it, however not one of these concerns still hangs over my ownership. I chose to buy a red example, but this is personal preference. I was concerned about the road noise of the car, given the stiff suspension and low profile tyres, as I do a fair amount of motorway miles. So far, I've barely noticed. I don't find the road noise too intrusive, only on the most harsh of road surfaces. Even then, the sweet engine note is more than enough compensation. The hard suspension is a bit of an issue over speed bumps - not to the point that you hear bottoming out noises, but it will certainly throw you around if you don't slow down. ...After 3 years and 54,000 miles, driving a Civic Type-R is hard work. Yes, the seats are comfy, yes the handling is pin-sharp and, yes it is good fun to drive down twisty country lanes. But 4,000rpm at motorway speeds makes for a very noisy place to be. Firm suspension isn't kind on the back and the lack of extras leave it feeling a little Spartan. So despite all the plus-points, motorway driving, which makes up most of my miles, is a chore. With my contract up for renewal I needed something a bit more "mature". Something a bit less boy-racer. Something that I could give a lift to colleagues in without them having to clamber through passenger door to the back. Something a bit more comfortable than the bare-bones Honda. ...I regret ever setting eyes upon my Type R. I purchased a fully serviced 53-plate Honda Civic Type R from a Honda dealership in Grantham in November 2006. My reasons for choosing Honda was because I deemed them to be reliable and I went through a dealership specifically for warranty cover. After 4 months of owning the car, in March 2007 there was a tremendous clanging which could be heard over the radio. The car was recovered by AA the next day who took it to Honda to be looked at. The AA man discovered that the noise was down to a lack of oil in the car ? it had burnt 4.2 litres of oil in 3,000 miles which Honda stated is normal for a Type R! Honda wanted to strip the engine at my own personal cost to see if the car needed a new engine costing £8,000. ...I drove past the Honda Garage in October whilst looking for a Ford Focus ST (to be honest I hadnt even thought about the CTR) and saw that they had a 57 reg milano red type r with 9000 miles for £14995. My budget was 12000 plus the part exchange value of my previous fiat (total of about £14000). I was sceptical about getting £1000 knocked off but thought it would be worth a shot.
