Technics 1200 / 1210 Mk2
Review of Technics SL1200Mk2 Turntable by
giles-y
Advantages: same turntable at home as in the clubs
Disadvantages: heavy
...Technics 1200 / 1210 what more can you say its the number one DJ turntable on the planet.
For years and years when i was younger just geting in to Djing all i wanted was a pair of technics.
after a few years with other direct drive decks i finally saved enough money to buy a pair i of technics, i bought the SL1200Mk2 because they were silver i did not like the brown of the 1210 much.
i have read around and talked to people and aparently the only difference between the 1200 and the 1210 is the colour.
I set up my new 1200s and got the tunes out. Wow what a turntable, after years of trying out all other types of direct drive turntables i could instantly see and feel the difference in build quality. the technics weight alot compared to any other turntable, this is because the bottom black base you see is not made of cheap moulded...

Technics 1200's-the best and sexiest decks around
Review of Technics SL-1200 by
djjacko
Advantages: Nearly everything-the best decks by far.
Disadvantages: high price new9though it is justified), pitch control clicks into place at 0% pitch.
...this product could hardly be improved. Apart from the small problem with the pitch control(and it is a VERY small problem), Technics have got a winning formula....

Review of Technics SL-1200 by
Mister_C
Advantages: Very high quality DJ Deck
Disadvantages: none
...moving in less than 0.1 secs. The platter is stable as well which enables you do spin-backs with ease.
I bought mine on the basis of becoming the next generation Scratch DJ. I wanted to enter the Technics World Mixing Championship Finals, obviously never got there. The best piece of advice about these babies is they hold their value even if you drop them 30feet out of a window onto the ground. They are made from Cast Steel and are built like a brick!
Technical Stuff:
SL-1200MK2
Technical Specification
Total quartz locked continuous pitch adjustment up to 8%
Precision moulded aluminium diecast cabinet and heavy rubber base material absorb unwanted vibrations
Unwavering quartz Direct Drive accuracy: wow and flutter 0,01% WRNMS, rumble -78dB (DIN B)
Very high torque (1.5Kg/cm) for quick start-ups
Highly sensitive low mass...

Are Technic 1210's Dated?
Review of Technics SL-1210 by
thedjcraiglee
Advantages: Industry Standard Decks
Disadvantages: Technology being left behind??
...I have had a set of Technic 1210's for around two years now. The design (even up to the MK5 Specials) still has not changed. This may cause a problem due to Technic's competition increasingly undercutting the price of 1210's and having decks which are more advanced technology wise. For example compare the Stanton STR8150 & Vestax PDX2300, with the Technic 1210s or even the 1210's MK5G's and you will see what i mean. This turntable is the industry standard (although i donot know how long for), it has pitch control -8 to +8, lights etc, huge torque (essential), anti-skate control, head shells, adjustable tone arms etc. Altogether a good solid turntable. The motor is almost gauranteed to keep this turntable turning for years and years, the quality of the work manship & quality of the components are apparent throughout this turntable...

My wonderful Technics keyboard
Review of Technics SX-KN2600 by
bagoproverbial
Advantages: Brilliant sounds! Beautiful to play
Disadvantages: Takes a while to learn navigation of the functions
...Ciao have finally put the category in for my Technics SX-KN2600 keyboard, so I just HAVE to tell you all about this wonderful musical instrument!
I should firstly let you know that I'm a competent keyboard / paino player, nothing special but I can play a few tunes and write some half-decent songs. I don't claim to be a master musician or a master songwriter, but I do love sitting down at the keyboard and messing about, working with sounds and arrangements and seeing if I can suddenly "stumble" into a new song (because that's really the best for it sometimes- you can be absently noodling and suddenly find you have an idea for a song- it just builds from there).
I have always loved playing the piano- from the age of five I always looked forward to going round my aunt's house to play the grand paino they had there- and many years ago...

Absolutely fantastic. Nothing will ever compare.
Review of Technics SL-1210 by
baldloaf
Advantages: Too many to list.
Disadvantages: One minor defect (see conclusion)
...of a single turntable. This is not very suitable for today’s type of clubs. The first direct drive turntable was the SP-10 and was only replaced ten years later with the SL-1200MK2 which was inspired by Technics in the way that their aim was to manufacture a turntable which was built not only for quality but durable enough to cope with sustained, heavy-duty use. This set the standard for direct drive turntables designed specifically for club environments and DJs who wanted to play a continuous flow of music without any gaps and be able to do this by changing the speeds of the records. Previous versions of turntables did not even have pitch control so you can imagine how difficult that would have been. The design of the 1210 has not changed noticeably since the 1200 series and only minor modifications are made in each new variation...

SL1210's
Review of Technics SL-1210 by
mbmb11
Advantages: top of its class
Disadvantages: there are none!
...Ahh, Technics SL1210 MK2 decks are a delight in themsleves, and proof that some things in life DO stand the test of time!!
The Sleek Black casings, the silver pop up light, the black and silver feet, oohh it oozes class!!
Not only are SL1210 MK2's the most technically accurate turntables, with the most amazing pitch control, they are very hardwearing, a friend of mines got tossed out of a 6th floor window in an emergency situation (!) and survived, well the covers never, but they still work a treat and thats the main thing.
If you dont abuse your decks, look after the covers, maintain your needles regularly and keep the boxes, they will hold their retail value exceptionally well if you ever decide to sell them (though why would is beyond me!!)
Technics are still the DJ's number one choice, but i do understand people who...

The Best Decks in the World.............Ever!!!
Review of Technics SL1210Mk2 Turntable by
buchaben
Advantages: Durability, Image, Usability, Layout, Strength, Power
Disadvantages: Price (But you can work around this), Some say demise of vinyl (I dont agree)
...I have to say that I completley agree with everything that the previous reviewer has written about these decks. They are industry standard and there is a reason why you will find them in every club in the world. They are one of the best investments that you will ever make.
I bought my pair a year ago as my first decks after deciding to make the next step in my love of music. The were 2-3 years old then and I have not had one single problem since I bought. The budget I gave myself was £600 max to start out including mixer, headphones and a couple of basslines to start my collection. I had two options, being get some Stantons or Numarks..etc new or get some 1210s.. After seeking advise from my various mates who had decks and reading up about them I opted for the Technics.
I got mine second hand from an internet auction site and I...

I'm not "technically" in love with it.
Review of Epiphone The Dot Electric Guitar by
martirya
Advantages: Beautiful finish, great resonant sound, a definate aquisition for guitar lovers.
Disadvantages: Not for everyone, large size not everyones cup of tea, Its not really a lead guitar.
...it is a wonderful guitar.
Technical Issues?
I've noticed, I've been having some pick up issues recently, I've been playing this guitar live for the 3 years I've had it and I've never had it serviced. In the last few months I've noticed the pick up volume will sometimes cut right out leaving me with a very flat clean sound with no depth, however in this guitars defence, I tend to spin it around and shake it a lot. I'm not somebody that delicately cares for my guitars, they are a piece of me. If I lost this guitar I wouldn't be able to replace it. Having another replica of it just wouldn't feel the same.
Should I buy the guitar or not?
Play it first I can only tell you my experience of it. it's a great guitar and looks great, but for metal players, or people that play more lead, its not the right guitar. You really have to get your arse...

Violin is Bach, to buy and play!
Review of Violin by
YasminMayHussein
Advantages: At the end of the day everytime you play the violin you are rewarded with a beautiful pure sound
Disadvantages: Practise!!!!!!
...to the scroll, and the fingerboard is placed on top of the neck.
When you play the violin you need to attach a shoulder rest parallel with the chin rest (under side of violin.) But it is far better and is advised that you buy a proper chin rest not a sponge or cloth.
There are a wide variety of books to start the violin from, one of them is called: Superstart Violin Level 1 by Mary Cohen, this book includes Challenges, Brain Teasers, Technical Tips and Fact Files, it also provides Beginners pieces to get off to a good start on the violin.
As you learn you begin to take Exams.
*Exams*
At Exams Do:
Be polite
Once again, play to you max
Try to stay calm
Clean your violin
Rosin your bow
Practise then rest before your exam
Thank your Examiner
Put on a smile...
