Technics CD Micro HiFi System
Review of Technics SC-HD 350 by
jala
Advantages: Modern simple design. Interchangeable unit arrangement. Remote. Very good quality sound output. Linkable to PC.
Disadvantages: Bass & Treble controls slightly basic.
...Technics SC-HD350 Micro HiFi System
I spent some time looking for the right stereo system. I wanted a Micro system but with separate units. I eventually decided upon the Technics SC-HD350 Micro HiFi system, because it was the only one that was both affordable and stylish (in my opinion). The technics system, I feel, is in a class of it's own, as the style is very much like many of the better known separate micro systems, but is much cheaper.
The Amplifier
The system's sound quality very good. I was used to using an amplifier, so I knew what sound quality I should expect. I was not disappointed by the sound at all. The amplifier unit is capable of sound reproduction in the range of -76 to 0dB (decibels). 0 dB is VERY loud, while -76 is virtually silent.
The amplifier has bass and treble controls, in the form of buttons...

Technics NOT technical...
Review of Technics SH-EH750 by
rachels_ratty
Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: None
...For those of you who don’t already know this let me share something with you. I’m a music lover; a slave to those little silver disks of loveliness that are CD’s, each and every one that gets into my house is well looked after and cared for. So it naturally follows that my hi-fi system has to be top-notch; I don’t just love my music, it HAS to sound the best it possibly can. Three years ago my old Technics separates system was starting to look a little jaded, the cassette deck had given up the ghost and it was time to relegate it to the bedroom.
The hunt was on for a replacement but I was very specific when it came to this new purchase. As my old system had given such first rate and long standing performance I was keen and eager to buy another by the same manufacturer. One quick trip into John Lewis and the deed was indeed done...

A CD player that you can trust!!!
Review of Technics SL-PD 7 by
jameslucjan
Advantages: Simple and it works!!!!
Disadvantages: can some times be a little bulky
...I need a CD player that was going to be reliable, hard working, simple to use and easy to connect up to a master music system or a PA system.
With all these things in mind I decided to go for the brand name that I believe to be the most reliable, Technics!!!
I had a choice between this system and a Sony product and because my master music system is Sony brand I was very tempted to keep it all the same for compatibility reasons. I eventually decided to take the risk and go for Technics. I have never looked back!!!!!
You can approach this machine in two ways, as a civilian (in terms of music equipment) or as a veteran of the music world. Either way you will not be disappointed with it.
It has a face that is extremely simple to use; play, pause, stop and track select all clearly visible on the remote control and on the main unit...

Stylish and Technical
Review of Technics SC-DV 290 by
peteyl
Advantages: Brilliant sound quality
Disadvantages: A lot of trust in electronics
...I have owned this hi-fi since the beginning of the year and so far nothing has gone wrong however i am cautious.
When i first got it i found the cables that came with it were not big enough for my living room so i had to buy some longer ones, so the ease if installation was fairly easy altough required me buy more pay out more.
The hi-fi has a 5 disc changer so 5 cds can be in the system at any time which makes it great when your relying on the remote.
The disc selection is 5 disc bays on top of one another and when you want to select a certain bay, it physicly moves the cd bay to the reader.
I personly dont like leaving 5 discs in the machine at once. I'm not sure if i should be but i am cautoius about changing the disc selection as you can hear the mechanics of the hi-fi working inside. It takes a long time and im in fear...

Good no-frills CD player
Review of Technics SL-PG 390 by
tcumming
Advantages: Good sound for the price, very reliable
Disadvantages: No remote control, only basic feature set
...This CD player was Technics' cheapest hifi seperate CD player back in 2000, when I bought it for £70, and I believe has now been replaced in the product line by the SL-PG3.
Both at the time and five years on, I have been very impressed by the overall quality of an unashamedly "budget" model. I am sure it does not sound as good as a £400 CD player, but nevertheless, to my ears it has a very well rounded sound, without the "wooliness" that sometimes characterises cheaper CD machines. It is also very well built - the drawer, controls and casing all feel very solid, and it has been perfectly reliable in the five years I have had it.
Where it loses out is on the range of features available. This machine is purely a traditional CD player - it will not play MP3 CDs or anything like that, nor will it play anything recorded on a CD-RW disc...

Brilliant, Long Lasting Entry Level CD Player
Review of Technics SLPG 580 A by
mattpone
Advantages: Reliable Sound Quality, Solid Construction, Optical Out, Remote
Disadvantages: none come to mind
...You can pick up one of these CD players, second hand, for between £40 and £80 nowadays and they are virtually indestructible.
A friend has owned one for the last 5 years for doing discos and it is covered in scratches and dents after being thrown around in cars and vans. Now I'm not suggesting this is how you should treat hi-fi equipment, but it is testament to the build quality of these units!
The other main advantage is that it will play copied cd's, whether they are from a hi-fi cd recorder or from a pc, which some earlier units would not.
The laser in these Technics players is brilliant and will also play cd's that have been lightly scratched on the surface which many other players have skipped on.
Further advantages are gained when you tried to fast forward through a cd using the >> buttons as it will go extremely fast...

mp3 cd player
Review of Sony CD / MP3 player by
Cid-zx
Advantages: good battery life
Disadvantages: ?????
...myself on Amazon.co.uk looking for something to the value of about £3 to take my order over the £25 mark in order to qualify for free delivery. I ended up buying a Sony D-NE511 Atrac / Mp3 Portable Discman for £60. Oops.
Sony produce a range of these Atrac discmans and as you would expect the more you pay, the better the features. But I went for the D-NE511 model because it seemed to have everything I needed, despite being the cheapest in the range.
Beside the player itself the box contains a power adapter, software cd, user guide, software instruction booklet and headphones. The units come in a few different colours if that sort of thing concerns you. You can choose from red, blue or the one I opted for, bog-standard silver (although that may not technically be the correct name for the colour!)
The player itself is only slightly...

Technics Hifi System
Review of Technics SH-EH500 by
Toady
Advantages: Execellent Sound, vaule for money and excellent features
Disadvantages: Can be too bassy
...I brought this Hi-fi system Technics SH-EH500 3 yrs ago now and cannot fault it in anyway. It cost me at the time of purchase £500 and is still worth every penny spent. It’s superwoofer is a good feature and the clock/timer feature is good too as it gets you up in the mornings. It's very powerful due to the many bass features it has so maybe a bit to powerful for a typical household environment. The Hifi it's self is very sylish looking Black with Gold trim.
It came with these accessories AC power supply cord, Remote control transmitter, Remote control batteries, FM indoor antenna, AM loop antenna set, Speaker cords and Antenna plug adaptor.
These are all the features on the Hi-fi:
Tuner/amplifier section
Clock/timer button
Power “standby” button
Timer on/off buttons (play & rec)
Tuning mode select...

Great budget CD Player for less than 100 pounds
Review of Technics SL-PG 490 by
schmams
Advantages: Cheap, but yet fantastic quaility for a budget price
Disadvantages: Nothing bad to say about it
...I bought this CD player when I was starting my seperates Hi-Fi system, and have had no complaints about it to date, and have no plans to replace it, as it does exactly what I need it to do.
I had the choice of either this or the Sony CDP-X330 (£100 at the time), I went for this purely because Technics make a better quality CD player, it had a headphones socket which the sony did not and it was £10 cheaper than the Sony at the time(£90). This has all the functionality of a more expensive CD player but yet still manages to pull of fantastic sound quality, at a small price.
Although it is now almost 2 years old it still has yet to be rivalled in the budget market.
This CD player is a must for anyone wanting to start their Hi-Fi seperate collection, but has a budget to watch. You will not be dissapointed, as there is nothing...
