Death Row to drop 4 CD 2Pac album.
Review of Clearing out the Vaults 4 CD Album - 2Pac by
Kozz
Advantages: 4CD's, 2Pac.
Disadvantages: CD's should maybe be released seperately over a longer perod of time.
...I just wanted to say I can't wait for Death Row Records to release the 4CD Box set of 2Pac's remaining unreleased material under Death Row. The album entitled "Clearing Out the Vaults" is set to be released at the fall of this year, and I for one can't wait. I just hope it isn't over-priced. It's gonna be a must have for any 2Pac fan. 2Pac is the best rapper that ever lived in my opinion, and he will be for a long time. This album should hopefully compliment 2Pac. Just one thing I can't understand is that why doesn't Death Row release the CD's seperately and make alot more money out of them? This 4 CD set is good for the fans, but it has it's down sides. It means that 2Pac CD's will run out as Death Row won't have any more material, and Amaru Records, run by his mother, won't have all that much. But that can't be changed and I can't wait...

HISTORY OF TENORS ON ONE CD
Review of The Greatest Tenors of the 20th Century by
jameslucjan
Advantages: All the hero's in one
Disadvantages: Mixed sound recordings Sound louder and quieter in places
...At first glance you would imagine the CD to be the normal mainstream nonsense with Russell Watson singing Amor ti Vieta, but when looking at the back you do see that this is a quality CD.
So lights down low CD player on high and a nice Glass of wine and you are ready for an audio trip through operatic tenor modern history.
Track List: (THERE ARE 27 TRACKS IF YOU WANT A SUMMARY OF EACH ONE THEN READ ON OTHERWISE HEAD FOR BOTTOM OF REVIEW)
Track 1: O Paradis sung by Enrico Caruso
What a start to the Cd. Nothing but quality technique and voice on show here, one of the best renditions you'll ever hear
Track 2: Morgenlich leuchtend sung by Peter Anders
Not my favourite song and a big jump in quality from the first track but still an adept singer, the first sign that there is going to be a wide variation of voice and style...

Perfection in CD form
Review of Rush Of Blood To The Head, A - Coldplay by
drunkenabby007
Advantages: Its incredible, heartbreaking and wonderful
Disadvantages: It ends
...the offical website to listen to the new songs. And finally, yesterday, the CD arrived, which I’d pre ordered from CD Wow for £8.99.
Firstly, lets look at the packaging. The front cover of A Rush Of Blood To The Head is pretty simple and eye catching – a technical style drawing of a person, with only half a head (the same style picture is used on the front of the In My Place single.” ) The cover doesn’t carry the name of the artist of title of the album, it’s just very simple and eye catching. Nice! The CD booklet carries black and white pictures of the band, and, asusual, doesn’t have any song lyrics – this is something which seems to now be very pase, so instead we all just have to make the words up! The CD booklet also contains some info about the Make Trade Fair campaign, and info about...

Radiohead Live CD
Review of I Might Be Wrong (Live Recordings) - Radiohead by
m_attlondon
Advantages: Brilliant production
Disadvantages: Too few tracks
...of looped lyrics at the end, playing over the top of each other. I saw them play it on Jools Holland, and Jonny Greenwood, as usual, was doing lots of weird technical stuff I don't know about.
The last track is acoustic and shows off Yorke's voice - I think it's just him playing and singing. The whole cd is about 45 mins, so fits nicely on a cassette make a copy because you are too tight to shell out the c.£10. I only wish there had been a few more tracks on it - since it cost as much as an album, they might have made it full album length without much more effort?
Looking forward to the new album 'Hail to the Thief'. Let's just hope they don't embarrass themselves 'doing politics'......

A must for everyone's CD collection
Review of Blue - Joni Mitchell by
bubblegum_princess
Advantages: Gorgeous songs and a great voice
Disadvantages: I've only just discovered it
...it an intimate experience between the listener and herself. Her voice is incredibly beautiful, a clear, gentle soprano (a nice change from the growling Britney style that is so popular in pop music today) which she is unafraid to use as an expressive instrument at the risk of losing the technically beautiful sound. Her talent as a songwriter is very impressive- understated but incredibly expressive.
People always say to write about what you know and Joni certainly follows that advice. Blue is such a personal record, dealing with themes of love and losing love, journeying, and the idea of home. The album is the story of a year in her life, showing us what she has gone through and what she has learned and gained from it. She makes herself and her life the theme of the album.
The album opens with All I Want, which sets out what the entire album...

sublime technical death metal
Review of Onset Of Putrefaction - Necrophagist by
des901
Advantages: Perfectly executed technical death metal of the highest order
Disadvantages: Lack of variation
...Necrophagist, on this album is a one man technical brutal death metal machine, masterminded by German virtuoso guitarist, Muhammed Suicmez. Necrophagist is now a full band, signed to well known underground metal/hardcore label relapse records. On onset of putrefaction, which was released on small indie label velvet records, way back in 1999, what we essentially have is a flawlessly executed, brutal, technical death metal album. Now, I don't mean technical, in the sense that they just use lots of time signatures and tempo changes; I'm talking extremely over the top, classically inspired virtuoso playing.
The drums on this release are programmed, but they are well executed and are fairly organic in sound and should not provide too much of a grievance for traditionalists. The intricacy and sheer bombast of the compositions...

Technically and Emotionally Amazing
Review of Systematic Chaos - Dream Theater by
flockofsalmon
Advantages: Musicanship rivaled by very few in the world, Dream Theater possesses more "feel" now
Disadvantages: A bit lacking for inspiration in the lyric department
...The phenomenal technicality and shere brilliant music compositions of Dream Theater are back for a ninth outing. Systematic Chaos, reminiscent of their seventh release, Train of Thought, dives deep into the realms of prog-metal.
Though Systematic Chaos allows each individual of Dream Theater to show off their technical prowess in ways we have heard in previous Dream Theater albums, a growth of musianship can be witnessed in the band, as well. Mike Portnoy's drumming continues to amaze, though not as show off-ey as previous Dream Theater outings, he has found a way to make himself known, while at the same time keeping the band together and tight. John Myung's bass playing is simply brilliant; he is never too known, but he always gives a nice oomphy bottom end while playing every single correct note. John Petrucci's guitar playing...

How do you solve the problem of a short CD?
Review of Favourite Things - Connie Fisher by
SScott764
Advantages: Some great songs
Disadvantages: Not long enough
...This CD features 13 songs, twelve of which are sung by the new Maria for the Andrew Lloyd Webber's London Palladium version of The Sound Of Music, chosen during the popular television series 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?'. I myself, although not very interested in it at the start of the summer when it first appeared, found myself increasingly intrigued as I did begin to watch it and found myself actually voting for the people who I wanted to stay in the show - something that I had never done before, or since, then. I was quite relieved to find out that Connie was the overall winner, as in my opinion she was the best of the remaining finalists, although Helena had done extremely well to get there - but anyway, enough of all this - I should be focussing on the CD. Well... after finding out that Connie had won, I thought...

School Reunion, The 80's Excellent CD's
Review of School Reunion - The 80's - Various Artists by
BUBBLES171
Advantages: Ohhh to be young again
Disadvantages: none
...Well at last it has appeared as I requested this. In November last year I saw this advertised on the television and wondered if it was as good as it seems. I was a bit worried as I have bought many an 80's flop only to find that all the songs have been by one band and appalling at that and it has gone straight to the bin.
I however kept seeing this television advert and put it on my wish list to Santa. However Santa wrote me a nice letter saying that he could not get into Woolworths to buy it on Christmas Eve as it was jammed packed.
So come the sales, off I trotted and priced it up at HMV, Woolies and other places and it all seemed to around the same price £15. Now I am not really a cd person, I prefer most of the old vinyl days which I collect and probably have got over a 1000 records but my player broke.
I took the CD...

OOOPS HOW DID I COME TO GET THIS CD
Review of Oops I Did It Again [ECD] - Britney Spears by
KarmababyUK
Advantages: Surprisingly good music
Disadvantages: your mates will laugh at ya!
...OK, I don't know how it happened BUT somehow a Britney Spears cd has sneaked its way in to my cd collection. Inbetween all my (what I class as 'good music') there appears to be an intruder in the form of Miss Spears. "Whats this doing in here?" gasped my friend Ali whilst browsing through my cd collection the other day. Luckily I thought quickly on the spot and managed to convince her that it was my little brothers cd and obviously it had got mixed up in my collection! I mean, c'mon, me listening to Britney? well, if you want to know the truth (Alison I pray that your not reading this!) but it was my cd and its still in there on my cd rack taking pride of place on my cd player over all my other cd's.
The thing is that I'm not a silly schoolgirl who likes Britneys image and wears her hair in pigtails and secretley dreams of snogging...
