Technics CD Micro HiFi System
Review of Technics SC-HD 350 by
jala
Advantages: Modern simple design. Interchangeable unit arrangement. Remote. Very good quality sound output. Linkable to PC.
Disadvantages: Bass & Treble controls slightly basic.
...Technics SC-HD350 Micro HiFi System
I spent some time looking for the right stereo system. I wanted a Micro system but with separate units. I eventually decided upon the Technics SC-HD350 Micro HiFi system, because it was the only one that was both affordable and stylish (in my opinion). The technics system, I feel, is in a class of it's own, as the style is very much like many of the better known separate micro systems, but is much cheaper.
The Amplifier
The system's sound quality very good. I was used to using an amplifier, so I knew what sound quality I should expect. I was not disappointed by the sound at all. The amplifier unit is capable of sound reproduction in the range of -76 to 0dB (decibels). 0 dB is VERY loud, while -76 is virtually silent.
The amplifier has bass and treble controls, in the form of buttons...

Oak Look Hi Fi
Review of Aiwa XR-EM200 Micro Hi-Fi System by
andycharger
Advantages: Great looks, clear sound, good price
Disadvantages: Not very loud, short speaker cables
...I have just been out and purchased a small hi fi for my lounge. In days gone by, we had monsterous stacking hi fi systems but, as with all technology, things have shrunk and vastly improved in quality.
The same goes for Aiwa Hi Fi equipment.
Once upon a time, Aiwa was frowned on in the High Street. Known for its cheaper styles and even cheaper sound, it was one to steer clear of. However, this little beauty does a great job at a great price and looks out of this world.
If you pop along to Ikea and look at most of the furniture, light wood is definitely in at the moment. Wheather it be light oaks or maples, it the surface that most cabinets come in.
In fact, most of the little stereo systems in their demo rooms look very similar to the Aiwa XR-EM200 micro hi fi.
This was one of the main selling points for me. The look...

Logik F3 Hi-Fi Micro System
Review of Logik F3 Hi-Fi Micro System by
elmwalk7
Advantages: Simple but very very effective
Disadvantages: None
...The stereo is a micro hifi system with DAB radio. it features a sliding remote controlled door, sel/skip search up and down buttons. LCD display, play/pause button CD window, IR sensor, Prog/sel button AUX button standby indicator and standby button. Headphone jack, speaker terminals, volume buttons and side control. You can also set the timer so the radio comes on at a set time, which would be nice in a bedroom, say as an alarm clock, and also has a sleep funtion when using the remote control. It shows signal strength, and time and date on the LCD.
The CD players allows both repeat and random play facility.
An absolutely lovely little stereo system, I purchased this model for my kitchen and although it does have trouble getting a DAB signal that is not unusual in the kitchen of my house, most things (mobile phones included...

What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision
Review of What Hi Fi by
EasyExercise.co.uk
Advantages: Very Informative, WILL help you make the right purchase
Disadvantages: Lots of adverts, price?
...I needed to get a new LCD TV and Home Cinema System. With no knowledge, I bought an issue of What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision. This magazine contains articles and mini tests on everything, you guessed it "sound and vision".
All the information and technical advice required to make my decisions easier was in the magazine. They review equipment for the average person right through to the "money no object" type (i'm the afore mentioned I hasten to add!).
After 2 hours of reading (easy to understand) I was able to make a short list and road test at the local electrical stores my choices. The magazine suggested that you shop around (how many people dont) for deals.....I did and thanks to the magazine, I saved £250 on my 2 purchases.
It is fair to say that a vast part of the magazine is a listing of "previous tests and review scores...

Review of Sony CMT-CP333 Micro System by
richard_richard
Advantages: Good value for money, features, reliability
Disadvantages: Tape recording isn't that brilliant
...The Sony cmt-cp333 is a micro hi-fi system that provides a decent range of features for a low price.
I have been using this system for about a year now and so feel in a position to be able to give it a pretty fair review!
The system cost me £189 and at the time i thought this was a pretty good price, considering the fact it was a Sony system with a fair range of features.
Specs
This sony system has the following features:
Power output 2 x 40 watt rms, 3 cd changer, shuffle/program/repeat play modes, 20 programmable tracks, digital fm/mw rds radio tuner with 30 radio station presets, ps (program service name). preset equaliser. twin full logic cassette player auto reverse, tape/cd synchro record, 9 auto search tracks, 4 pre-set sounds, bass enhancer, remote control.

Choosing a surround sound system
Review of Member Advice on Choosing a Hi-fi by
C_W_Monkey
Advantages: Good cinema sound
Disadvantages: Many systems "mis-sold"
...of these configurations you have set up, just see your manual. Some systems might have just one way of setting it up so again, read the manual.
The left and right speakers should be pointing forward, with no tilt. The centre should be the same as pro-logic.
Sub-woofers can go anywhere in the room technically. Although they are usually located next to the viewer (for a good rumble) or at the front of the room. This is more aesthetic than it is practical.
All surround speakers should be bare wire like hi-fi speakers. Just try and be organised when connecting them and label wires for future reference. The subwoofer will be through a coax connection (like video recorders have) just plug it into the appropriate connection.
As for the input connections, you should have a number of optical digital, coax digital and perhaps a scart, normal coax...

Top Marks for This All-in-one Home Cinema System
Review of Sony DAV-S880 Integrated DVD/SACD HiFi System by
cmathan
Advantages: Excellent audio settings, easy to navigate remote, powerful speakers, very stylish design, sound quality's incredible
Disadvantages: not enough scart connectors and only 1 optical connector.
..., it remembers the settings so there is no need to alter the audio setting when you change from tv to dvd to video etc.
The system plays DVDs, CDs and VCDs all with the same excellent quality.
I bought this system 10 months ago and would never be without it - I love it. I did months of research in various Hi-Fi magazines prior to purchase and all of them gave this system top marks - and I do to. 5 stars from me....

Technics Hifi System
Review of Technics SH-EH500 by
Toady
Advantages: Execellent Sound, vaule for money and excellent features
Disadvantages: Can be too bassy
...I brought this Hi-fi system Technics SH-EH500 3 yrs ago now and cannot fault it in anyway. It cost me at the time of purchase £500 and is still worth every penny spent. It’s superwoofer is a good feature and the clock/timer feature is good too as it gets you up in the mornings. It's very powerful due to the many bass features it has so maybe a bit to powerful for a typical household environment. The Hifi it's self is very sylish looking Black with Gold trim.
It came with these accessories AC power supply cord, Remote control transmitter, Remote control batteries, FM indoor antenna, AM loop antenna set, Speaker cords and Antenna plug adaptor.
These are all the features on the Hi-fi:
Tuner/amplifier section
Clock/timer button
Power “standby” button
Timer on/off buttons (play & rec)
Tuning mode select...

Technics NOT technical...
Review of Technics SH-EH750 by
rachels_ratty
Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: None
...For those of you who don’t already know this let me share something with you. I’m a music lover; a slave to those little silver disks of loveliness that are CD’s, each and every one that gets into my house is well looked after and cared for. So it naturally follows that my hi-fi system has to be top-notch; I don’t just love my music, it HAS to sound the best it possibly can. Three years ago my old Technics separates system was starting to look a little jaded, the cassette deck had given up the ghost and it was time to relegate it to the bedroom.
The hunt was on for a replacement but I was very specific when it came to this new purchase. As my old system had given such first rate and long standing performance I was keen and eager to buy another by the same manufacturer. One quick trip into John Lewis and the deed was indeed done...

So Get Your Ears On Cause Im Hi-Fi
Review of Hi-fi Serious - A (Rock) by
Andy.mack
Advantages: The Distance
Disadvantages: Over too quickly
...Right well this is my third op on A and it brings me to the last album Hi-fi Serious. named after a Sketch on Steve Coogan’s cult comedy Serious Alan Partridge (You know the one he bought the Bang & Olufson CD player/sound system. Well he gets it from Hi-fi Serious the shop).
Well the lads originally from Leeds found real success with this album and got the first decent chart position’s they have had but of course that doesn’t really mean much the way the charts are. Well A have now been around a while and this album was probably going to be make or break for them.
However nothing can take away from the fact that A are a terrific Live band. I saw them at Reading Uni just after this album was released and they were superb. Of course this was the fourth time I had seen them but the first time they had played the new stuff.
Just...
