Technics 1200 / 1210 Mk2
Review of Technics SL1200Mk2 Turntable by  giles-y

Advantages: same turntable at home as in the clubs
Disadvantages: heavy

...Technics 1200 / 1210 what more can you say its the number one DJ turntable on the planet. For years and years when i was younger just geting in to Djing all i wanted was a pair of technics. after a few years with other direct drive decks i finally saved enough money to buy a pair i of technics, i bought the SL1200Mk2 because they were silver i did not like the brown of the 1210 much. i have read around and talked to people and aparently the only difference between the 1200 and the 1210 is the colour. I set up my new 1200s and got the tunes out. Wow what a turntable, after years of trying out all other types of direct drive turntables i could instantly see and feel the difference in build quality. the technics weight alot compared to any other turntable, this is because the bottom black base you see is not made of cheap moulded... The CD Player is Dead Long Live the Turntable
Review of Technics SL1210MK2Y by  jason.rowe

Advantages: Well Built
Disadvantages: None

...Do you remeber vinyl records - black plastic discs that scratched easily and came in 12" and 7" flavours. Well if you're in your early teens you probably will not know what I'm talking about. Unless you love dance music and collect dance tracks on 12". Well Technic SL1210's are record decks used in pubs and clubs throughout the world to play this old form of media. If you want to set yourself up as a DJ and learn the art of mixing, then a good bet are the Technics SL1210-MK2 or the 1200's. They are expensive retailing around £350 each and in this day and age probably no the best available (technically at least). What you do get for your hard earned dollar is an extremely well built record player, that can take some serious wear and tear. The decks are available in two colours silver(sl1200) and black(sl1210... Read review

Used by most DJs for a reason...
Review of Technics SL1210MK2Y by  QuinnTheEskimo

Advantages: Very well made, industry standard decks
Disadvantages: Relative high price and few features compared to others

...Technics. Ask most DJs what there dream is and somewhere along the line it will involve Technics. The SL1210MK2 is the industry standard record deck, for a very good reason. They have excellent build quality and will survive even the toughest tests, essential for club use. The tonearm assembly is of the highest quality and as a result the sound output is beautiful. The direct drive motor has high torque and will start almost instantly and stop just as quickly. Technics decks are the most reliable and nicest feeling record decks I have ever used. Everything on them feels like quality, and is. Because of the relatively high price, these are probably not the best choice for amature DJs, although there is nobody who these won't be suited to these. Any type of mixing is possible.... a pro DJ's opinion
Review of Technics SL1210MK2Y by  thenewboy

Advantages: Sturdy high performance workhorse with classic looks and superb response
Disadvantages: Flying leads for audio/ground/mains; bastard heavy

...The Technics SL1210 (and it's nearly identical twin the 1200) has remained the industry standard for DJ's practically since it's release...ongoing demand has meant Technics threaten to stop production every twelve months; when the protests flood in they 'give in gracefully', but justify another price hike by blaming product sourcing or something. But the 1210 is the king of turntables for many reasons, and still holds it's crown with ease. For a start, just from a hi-fi point of view, the 1210 is a superb piece of kit. I personally do not know the relevent technical figures, but my hi-fi enthusiast friends can quote them with ease, as most of them agree on the superiority of the 1210 and own one themselves. Suffice to say the sound quality is as high as one can realistically expect from a record player, and the pitch control and motor... Read review

Brilliant investment
Review of Technics SL-1200MK2 Turntable by  cybergoose

Advantages: Industry Standard, Good Feel, Good Looks, Sturdy
Disadvantages: Price, Minimal Pitch Control

...Whether you want to get into DJing or you are upgrading from a less expensive deck, the technics is the way to go! this deck is built like a tank, it feels as good as it costs, and is an all round excellent turntable whether you scratch, mix just use it to play vinyl. The only problem with the deck, and it is a minor one, is that the pitch control only goes 8% each way. This means that the decks can mix music fine if you specialise in one genre or mix music with similair speeds, but the decks can mix music from one extreme to another. However, I find that once the pitch gets to, say, 12% or more, the music sounds ridiculously slow or fast, so the pitch range available should be fine for most people. If the expense of the deck intimidates you, you might want to conisder picking up just one deck to start with, then when you have... Read review

The Best Decks in the World.............Ever!!!
Review of Technics SL1210Mk2 Turntable by  buchaben

Advantages: Durability, Image, Usability, Layout, Strength, Power
Disadvantages: Price (But you can work around this), Some say demise of vinyl (I dont agree)

...I have to say that I completley agree with everything that the previous reviewer has written about these decks. They are industry standard and there is a reason why you will find them in every club in the world. They are one of the best investments that you will ever make. I bought my pair a year ago as my first decks after deciding to make the next step in my love of music. The were 2-3 years old then and I have not had one single problem since I bought. The budget I gave myself was £600 max to start out including mixer, headphones and a couple of basslines to start my collection. I had two options, being get some Stantons or Numarks..etc new or get some 1210s.. After seeking advise from my various mates who had decks and reading up about them I opted for the Technics. I got mine second hand from an internet auction site and I... Read review

The Legend continues?
Review of Technics SL1210MK5 by  edlloyd01

Advantages: can't go wrong
Disadvantages: overpriced

...It's the same review as the Technics SL-1200 MK5 because the only difference between the SL-1200 MK5 and SL-1210 MK5 is the colour. The SL-1200 is silver and the SL1210 is black. Not many people realise it. The amount of people I've met who say "yeah...the 1210's are better aren't they!?" and "the 1210's are more powerful". When I was trying to sell 1200's MK2, I had difficulty selling them to 2nd hand stores because the shops were only after 1210's because of this illusion that the 1210 is a better deck With my experience of this turntable I would say it is a very good turntable for the use of Dj'ing. The only thing I dont agree with about this turntable is the price. As other Dj turntables produces began to make turntables of the same quality and standard for lower prices the technics deck is starting to become outdated. Though... Read review

SL1210's
Review of Technics SL-1210 by  mbmb11

Advantages: top of its class
Disadvantages: there are none!

...Ahh, Technics SL1210 MK2 decks are a delight in themsleves, and proof that some things in life DO stand the test of time!! The Sleek Black casings, the silver pop up light, the black and silver feet, oohh it oozes class!! Not only are SL1210 MK2's the most technically accurate turntables, with the most amazing pitch control, they are very hardwearing, a friend of mines got tossed out of a 6th floor window in an emergency situation (!) and survived, well the covers never, but they still work a treat and thats the main thing. If you dont abuse your decks, look after the covers, maintain your needles regularly and keep the boxes, they will hold their retail value exceptionally well if you ever decide to sell them (though why would is beyond me!!) Technics are still the DJ's number one choice, but i do understand people who... Read review

Absolutely fantastic. Nothing will ever compare.
Review of Technics SL-1210 by  baldloaf

Advantages: Too many to list.
Disadvantages: One minor defect (see conclusion)

...of a single turntable. This is not very suitable for today’s type of clubs. The first direct drive turntable was the SP-10 and was only replaced ten years later with the SL-1200MK2 which was inspired by Technics in the way that their aim was to manufacture a turntable which was built not only for quality but durable enough to cope with sustained, heavy-duty use. This set the standard for direct drive turntables designed specifically for club environments and DJs who wanted to play a continuous flow of music without any gaps and be able to do this by changing the speeds of the records. Previous versions of turntables did not even have pitch control so you can imagine how difficult that would have been. The design of the 1210 has not changed noticeably since the 1200 series and only minor modifications are made in each new variation... Read review

Polo 1.05 mk2 and 3
Review of VW Polo 1.05 by  tomdean79

Advantages: Reliable, Economical, Build Quality, Badge
Disadvantages: Head Gasket

...Mk 2 (round lights) and Mk 3 (square lights) Polo 1.05ltr The Volkswagen Polo 1.05 is the car I would and have bought in times of crisis. I owned my first 1.05 when I was 17, a C reg 1985 silver saloon (the height of fashion!) that cost me £775 8 years ago. This car lasted me 2 years before a tree sent it to car heaven. I can safely say that before its run in with the tree, this car was one of the strongest most reliable car I have ever owned. The car had covered over 100,000 miles and on inspection of the pistons and cylinder head, the engine looked to be in perfect condition. The only reason for the removal of the head was because I though the head gasket was leaking oil, which is a very common fault on these engines, although after a days work I found out it was only the fuel pump that had sprung a leak and cost less...
