...This is yet another update to the industry standard direct drive Technics SL1200 turntable. To be honest, this is not massively different to the M3 edition, the most noticeable difference is the white LED light and the anti-skate control (which I never adjust anyway). As with all Technics, this plays records at either 33 or 45 rpm and you have the option to select the speed between -8% and +8%. This turntable also has the 'pitch reset' button which, if pressed, ignores the pitch selected on the fader and plays the record as if at 0%. A nice feature, although I hardly use it. Putting the cartridge and stylus together was a tricky job but these things always are. Technics 1200's-the best and sexiest decks around

Advantages: Nearly everything-the best decks by far.
Disadvantages: high price new9though it is justified), pitch control clicks into place at 0% pitch.

...Many decks claim to be better than the industry standard-the Technics SL1210 or SL1200-but none, in my opinion, come close. These are the best selling decks there are, so surely that shows how good they are. With +/-8% pitch, and very quick start up times, no wonder nearly all top DJs choose Technics as their weapon. The Technics decks have been around for years, but still look ready for business. Although there is no difference performance wise, I prefer the Technics 1200s to the 1210s. With their sexy silver finish and retro look, these decks would look at home anywhere, not just in the big clubs. Most of the cheaper decks copy the same layout as the 1200s and 1210s, which has now become the industry standard layout, though they cannot match their performance. The only small problem with them is that the pitch fader clicks into place...

Still the industry standard turntable?

Advantages: Excellent reliablity, accurate pitch control, nice feel to them
Disadvantages: Not so many features compared to newer decks, low pitch range

...I bought my Mk5s about 3 years ago now and they have stood me well over the time. The first thing I will mention, and what Technics are renound for, is their durability. My decks have been to parties, had drinks spilled on them, dropped, been in the back of transit vans, and they still work perfectly. There is no sign of damage to the tone arms, or in fact any other area of them. The lights on the platter still stay in perfect allignment at 33rpm, which shows that they still turn at precisely 33rpm. It's almost like you couldn't break them if you tried. They also have a fair amount of torque - when you drop in the vinyl, it begins to spin at 33 or 45 rpm almost instantly. Then again, they don't have too much either. Technics 1200 / 1210 Mk2

Ah...The good old days...

Advantages: Great little deck
Disadvantages: Looks a bit dated

...These little darlings were banging out tunes to dancefloors when people were raving with White gloves and a whistle in their mouths. In fact these decks were where most of the big name DJs would have cut their vinyl teeth. Yes the SL1200 would now look decidedly more at home in someones house or flat due to their Shiny aluminium look. The shiny look as replace the black metal look in home Hi Fi so dig out your 1200s and get the parties going again. There is very little difference between the 1200 and the 1210 other than the colour. Both are direct Drive masterpieces of mixing engineering. Technics buit their legendary name in the club world on the back of these decks while the 1210 has taken it to new heights. Both set ups have a pitch control of +8/-8 and are instant Start/Stop so pick up time is nil. Great for the beginner...

We tried to make it together doing different parts, but since you have to follow the instructions very carefully and do one step after another this was not really working, so I just had to sit next to my boyfriend and watch while he did it! My mum got this from John Lewis for £49.99 but it is also available from the Lego website for the same price. I have also seen Lego Technic available in Toys'R'Us so it is not hard to get a hold of. Lego Technic looks quite different from the 'normal' Lego that we all know. The parts are smaller than the normal lego bricks. It is like a more 'grown up' lego. Brilliant investment

...Whether you want to get into DJing or you are upgrading from a less expensive deck, the technics is the way to go! this deck is built like a tank, it feels as good as it costs, and is an all round excellent turntable whether you scratch, mix just use it to play vinyl. The only problem with the deck, and it is a minor one, is that the pitch control only goes 8% each way. This means that the decks can mix music fine if you specialise in one genre or mix music with similair speeds, but the decks can mix music from one extreme to another. However, I find that once the pitch gets to, say, 12% or more, the music sounds ridiculously slow or fast, so the pitch range available should be fine for most people. Review of technics 1210's deejay tuntables

Advantages: proven track record, strong motor, good for club or bedroom deejay extremely robust

...Recently the 1210's from technics have been under seige for the number one spot. they have been industry standard for over thirty years and every1 knows when you at the top you always have someone waiting for you to make your mistake. So Its unfortunate for the competition that technics dont really do mistakes and they are number one for a reason. They are not much to look at but the build quality and durability are out of this world, words cannot describe how smooth these turntables feel at your fingertips, i personaly have had 2 sets in the past the mark 3's and the mark 2's i own today ( my original decks are still going strong being used by a friend who bought them when i needed space ) They sell from anywhere between 500 to 600 pounds each brand new or you can pick up a second hand pair for below 600 pound.
