Brilliant portable DVD player
Review of Shinco 1731A Portable DVD Player by  rollerskaterabbit

Advantages: Looks great, plays great, lots of accessories, multiregion
Disadvantages: no free headphones

...I frequently travel on the train for 3 hour journeys each way so I wanted a portable DVD player to stop me being bored rigid. I happily chose the Shinco 1731A portable DVD player for the following reasons 1) The seven inch model was small, easily portable but the colour ActiveMatrix TFT screen didn't seem too small when watching films on the train. THe screen also has a 400:1 contrast ratio giving really clear pictures. 2) I wanted a multiregion portable DVD player so I could use all formats (1-6). This DVD player also plays other formats, including DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD. The Shinco also has multi language/angle/subtitle capability, zoom play and programmable play and comes with a tiny remote control. 3) I wanted a portable DVD player that I could use with my TV set at home... DVD-104 is a good buy if you can get it cheap.
Review of Technika DVD104 by  riblet

Advantages: Rock solid reliability, okay looks, good selection of output sockets.
Disadvantages: Awful remote, only 2.0 sound, lacking some newer features.

...DVD has all but replaced VHS Videos these days. And while two competing technologies attempt to catch our eye for the 'next generation' high definition DVD technology, there is still plenty of time for the regular DVD yet. The Technika DVD-104 is a fairly basic DVD player. It's somewhat lacking in more high end features, such as DivX, mp3, or 5.1 surround support. But what it does do, it does well. First off, appearances. This unit is the usual all width and no height affair. With only six function buttons and one power button along the front, the remote is vital. The front of the unit is the usual reflective plastic affair, with the display and infrared sensor to the right and various logos splattered around the place to make the unit look more posh, it's "just another DVD player" in that department, but it fits in well with my... Technika Television
Review of Technika LCD19DVDID-107 by  Hsaxo

Advantages: Compact, Stylish
Disadvantages: Slightly slow software

...to be wall mounted, with standard mounting holes to fit most brackets. The Technika also has the outstanding idea of having the freeview service and dvd player built in making it very convinent and a good all in one. The remote is a good size and the buttons are easy to understand and you don't have to be really close to the television for it to work like with some remotes, it will quite easily work from the other side of the room. The instruction manual was also easy to understand all though this was hardly needed as the television was so easy to set up. We purchased ours from our local Tesco supermarket for £279 which i concider a very good price for the television with built in DVD and Freeview. The cable has a good lenth to it making it easy to place where you want it and still be able to reach the plug socked without masses... Read review

Panasonic Portable DVD player Review.
Review of Panasonic DVD-LS 80 by  phil124lufc

Advantages: Great if you work away.
Disadvantages: Battery life

...The Panasonic LS80-K is quit a stylish little portable DVD player with its black interior and silver housing this looks the business. And not only does it look the business but it is and I can gladly say that the Panasonic LS80-K portable DVD player also delivers. Perfect for those who live on the move a lot such as contract workers or truck drivers. But you don't have to live on the move to appreciate owning one of these I for instance have used it on many occasions when on long fishing or camping trips. I must admit that not all my fishing trips are packed with activity so this is good to keep you entertained. Some of the main features include an 8.5 inch LCD screen, with DVD player which can play DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RAM. The Panasonic LS80-K will also play all of your DivX films as well as JPEG, VCD and most other media... Read review

DVD player for girls with a passion for fashion
Review of Bratz Portable DVD Player by  lizngaz

Advantages: remote, nice design, portable
Disadvantages: battery pack is a bit bulky

...I am sure anyone with a similar aged daughter to mine (9 on Sunday) will have had exactly the same situation as me last Christmas. My daughter came to me with an Argos book in one hand and one hell of a shopping list in the other! When we added it all up, it came to about £700 (and she's good at maths so I think she was pushing things a little there!). We whittled it down a bit (!) and it still left her spoilt rotten. Now, I had really good intentions to stick at that list... but it didn't happen! Most of you will have seen the many Argos adverts prior to Christmas with the half price offers. I caught the end of one and saw this Bratz portable DVD player in the pile of toys shown on the advert so went online for a look. I had been considering buying it since my friend bought it her daughter for a birthday present and told me... Read review

Tesco DVD +R 50pk
Review of Tesco DVD+R 50Pk by  Slamiton

Advantages: Cheap annd Reliable
Disadvantages: Spindle casing the DVDs are packaged in not suitable for storing DVDs once opened

...This 'write once' pack of DVD +R is great value. At the moment Tesco are retailing these at £14.97 which works out to be about 30p each The pack comes in as a spindle pack with no covers. They are write once only at max speed of x8 and have a storage capacity of 4.7GB each. The +R format can be used in the following DVD machines: Technika Bush Alba Daewoo Goodmans Matsui Philips The following machines are also compatible with +R as well as -R Sony LG Liteon Sharp The hardware that only caters for -R and therefore cannot use the +R format are: Hitachi JVC Panasonic Pioneer Samsung Toshiba The spindle pack the DVDs come in is very flimsy cheap plastic so once opened the original casing is not very good to store the blank DVDs. However, this is a minor quibble considering the price they retail at... Read review

The Best Portable DVD Player For This Price!
Review of Philips PET 730 by  Craigshadow12

Advantages: Great picture, Good audio, Nice to look at.
Disadvantages: Sound cannot go as high as some other portable DVD players.

...Introduction = I would like to start this review by stating why I chose to buy this product instead of the many other portable DVD players that I could have bought. The first reason was simply the price. This was the cheapest Portable DVD player that I could find at my local Electronics store. You must understand that I do not travel all that often so I just wanted a cheap portable DVD player so that I would not get bored during any long journeys that I would encounter by Train or Car during the summer. To put it simply if I did not have this device when I was travelling I would have been incredibly bored. Portable DVD players become lifesavers on long journeys. This machine was also useful for those times when I just fancied lying back on my bed and watching a film. Even though my TV with DVD player was just feet away, I... Read review

Freeview recording if you can't afford a Humax
Review of Technika AED-TR 160 S 7 by  AlistairBirch

Advantages: Program Guide really clear and simple, quite good features
Disadvantages: No series link, not the most energy efficient box.

...hours of TV which is fine for me and my family. When I looked into the different products I found http://www.ricability-digitaltv.org.uk/pages/products/digitaltvs/index.asp ?Product=Technika%20AEDTR160S7 useful to compare similar products although this site states that this box has series link which I can't seem to find or get working. This is a nice to have facility as it allows you to record an entire series by just setting it to record once rather than repeatedly for each episode. There are some more toys within the system like picture in picture and you can simply archive recordings off to video or DVD. Pausing live TV is simple, if you are watching a program and you are interupted you can press pause and it will store up to 2 hours of TV. Pressing play later resmes where the story left off. If you are just watching a program... Read review

Stunning little 256mb MP3 player for under £5
Review of Technika MP3 player by  DragonflyWales

Advantages: Price, Simple to use, Quality
Disadvantages: Minimal features

...I have been debating whether to splash out on an mp3 player for quite some time now but always seemed to have something else to spend the money on so had not purchased one until now. While picking up some essentials I spotted the Technika MP-906 mp3 player which Tesco are currently retailing for £4.97 and so decided that at under £5 what the hell. I have to say it is probably the best £5 I have ever spent. For this price you don't expect much and so I was expecting a lightweight flimsy feeling piece of kit, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The first thing you notice when you remove the player from the packaging is the quality feel of the player. Not the flimsy plastic I was expecting but a solid plastic with a soft rubbery texture that is incredibly comfortable to hold. The styling of the player is very smooth... Read review

Great value TV
Review of Technika LCD-19-907 by  laramax

Advantages: Excellent value, good range of features
Disadvantages: Little known manufacturer

.... What do you get for your money? The Technika LCD 19-907 is a basic 19" LCD TV with built in Freeview (they do a version with a built in DVD which is a little dearer but that wasn't what I wanted). It has a built in stand which you can remove if you are mounting it on a wall bracket like I was, however if, like me, you have a Wii then it is worth leaving the stand in place as it makes a convenient place to site the sensor bar! The surround to the screen is a smart black colour and the speakers are mounted below the screen which was important to me as I didn't want any extra width. The ON/OFF switch and volume controls etc are mounted down the right hand side and the connections for the aerial and SCART are on the rear facing downwards. There is just one SCART socket which I do think is a drawback when you want to connect... Read review
