Little tikes on a teeter totter
Advantages: long lasting
Disadvantages: none
...Tiny tots on a teeter totter.
I see tiny tots playing on a teeter totter most days at work as we have a little tikes teeter totter rocker in the nursery playground.
This outdoor toy is a very basic moulded plastic rocker. It is blue a long curved base that has a place at each end for seating there are two handles one by each of the seating areas. These handles are yellow plastic rods which have been pushed through a raised blue plastic lump . These are chunky easy for little hands to grasp and hold Another child can easily sit in the middle between the seats this toy measures 105cm L x 43cm W x 36cm H./ 41.50" x 17" x 14" The plastic curved base of the rocker has been moulded to look like a few waves. These are quite wide and are places for resting feet
On one end of the teeter totter there are eyes either side...

Great singles - where's the rest
Advantages: Great Singles
Disadvantages: Poor backup
...OK, so we all know 'Writing to Reach You', 'Driftwood' and the superb 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me' but what happened to the rest of the album? All I can say is that somebody at the record company is pcking the right tracks to use as singles. Don't get me wrong, the three songs mentioned make this a good purchase and I am not disappointed by it, but the lack of consistency of the tracks is immense, and repeated listening hasn't lead to the growing on me. The hooklines which make the singles so strong are either missing or teetering on edge of being catchy but never fall into the correct area.
I will look with interest to the next release and see if the band who....can produce a more consistent product....

------- Keeping Watch ----------
She lies
A portrait of serenity
A shrine to peace
Silent.
He sits
Sorrow personified
At the Alter of life
Afraid.
--------- Death --------------
My life,
Drifting into realms
Of grey tonality.
A silence is born.
A silence to stop
Mortals still.
But a whisper
Drifts between the trees,
Up through the
Rocky path,
Teeters for a moment then falls.
Falls down further
Swallowed by the depths,
The abyss which is...

Forget the pain of the past....
Advantages: na
Disadvantages: na
...I’m in a reflective mood today; nearly four years ago my mother passed away due to cancer. The years have gone quickly and my pain and sorrow have diminished, but my feelings remain the same. Next month she would have been sixty and I still wish she was able to see her birthday and enjoy her later years. So, I thought, what do I normally do when in this kind of mood – I know – poetry time. Hmmm, as the Poetry section only allows you to post one poem I had to place it here – sorry!
Spring flowers,
unheeding to the changing times,
peek out of their winter prison,
searching the inspiration,
the nourishment and the healing,
of the giving sun,
lifeblood flows,
as renewed feelings encourage growth,
renewed vows of love teeter on a precipice,
as storms threaten the horizon,
and a false dawn disappears...

Lost Love (On Chesil Beach - Ian McEwan)
Advantages: short, well written, poignant
Disadvantages: cold
...more obviously so, any of its descriptions) permanently teeters on the edge of bathetic.
The double perspective and the wide gulf between Florence's real feelings, her behaviour and Edward's interpretation rang amazingly true, perhaps even more so in the context of the current debates about consent and date rape.
A short and intense read, "On Chesil Beach" is a sparse, poignant if ultimately not elegiac and very sharp; beautifully told with the now trademark McEwanite clarity and precision. The characters are not particularly likeable (occasionally I detected a faint whiff of "Amsterdam") but both their anguish and their pettiness invite compassion, not contempt.
Highly recommended.

Wii! It's the noise you make when you fall off the board
Advantages: Adds new dimensions to the Wii console
Disadvantages: a bit bulky to store in a small cottage
...on the board and the console creates a Wi-Fi link.
Opinion
I've never been a great games player, they always seemed to be divorced from any sense of authenticity. The Wii came along to put an end to that, with its motion sensitive controllers it emulates the feel of the activity quite effectively, that is to say, when I play the Ten Pin Bowling game it mirrors my ineptitude with the real game so closely it is frightening. When you see the ball teeter and fall into the gutter three quarters of the way down the lane it is exactly like what happens to me on those rare occasions that I grace the lanes of the Wessex Superbowl in Bournemouth.
The board is well constructed from moulded plastic and is very robust. The power switch is on the rear edge and access to the synch button and battery compartment are on the bottom. There are no...

Let the cheese begin!
Advantages: Great debut album
Disadvantages: Just the one weak song
...'s quite weak, but the guitar and beat of the track are phenomenal. I felt this one was more for Sambora to show what he can do rather than provide something deep and meaningful with the lyrics.
Breakout is similarly a chance for another band member to showcase their talents. David Bryan's keyboard skills are excellent, and they were essential to the success of a band such as Bon Jovi at the time, with a synthesiser sound at the forefront of pop sounds. BJ used this sound to cross over and put a little commercialism on their pop, getting them a cheesy rock title but launching them into another genre, almost, and this track certainly shows why.
I'm not too keen on She Don't Know Me. It kind of flirts between a slower tempo and a quicker one, and never really makes its mind up. This kind of teetering, to me, didin't really fit in...

Perfect Pad
Advantages: So easy to use, cheap and no mess
Disadvantages: Disintegrate fairly quickly on rough surfaces
...Forget messy rollers and time consuming brushes - paint pads are the answer to a decorators prayers.
The product varies slightly depending on brand but basically consists of a handle, spongy pad and a paint tray (you might have to buy the tray separately but it is definatley needed). The sponge can be removed from the handle for cleaning purposes.
Check out how securely the sponge is fixed to the handle. The best ones slide into the base plate of the handle and are reasonably tight fitting. Beware of ones that are fixed by a few tabs as the sponge tends to come flying out when you're teetering on top of the ladder doing a fiddly bit.
The paint pad is dead ease to use - just glide the pad over the paint in the tray, scrape off excess paint and smooth the paint over the wall.
No skill is required, you can paint in all...
