...Although I'd had a cheap toaster for a while it was very rarely used because I had a gas oven and grill and we always used that to toast anything other that sliced bread. Crumpets etc went on the grill and came out beautifully. The purchase of my first electric oven soon put paid to that due to the time required to heat the element. A toaster that was capable of a range of baked goods was necessary and the Tefal Avanti looked like it was up to the job. This is a big toaster with slots that look wider and deeper than the average. It has a futuristic appearance and plenty of buttons and knobs on the front to make it seem that toasting is a complicated task. There's a high lift button for teacakes, crumpets and other things that sit lower in the slot, there's a stop button if you notice smoke emerging and the usual browning control... Read review

After a swift flick through the pages of my trusty Argos book (otherwise known as the Tickly bible), I decided to spend no more than £20. ...I bought this toaster in the January sales after it was reduced from £50 to a more appetising £35. A big factor in the purchase was twofold. Firstly, the existing toaster - a 2-slice faux silver Delonghi which gave pathetic results – was heading for the Oxfam charity bag as soon as it’s successor was found. Secondly, I was looking to upgrade to a four-slicer. My satisfaction, I decided, would be measured by an evenly toasted bread product, delivered with consistent results. The Tefal Avanti Deluxe ticked the box for having the four slice option, and the price was bearable. The unknown factor was it’s performance, which I’m happy to report is very good, after 5 months of use. The Oxfam charity bag won’t be seeing this baby for a good while. ...***Background*** This is not the first Tefal Avanti model that I have owned. The first one lasted me over 10 years and was obtained with the help of ABC points with Safeway many years ago. Unlike this model it was only a 2 slice toaster and when it gave up on us about 3 months before our wedding, it was decided to buy a cheap Tesco value model to do us and we put this model on to our wedding list. ...Having a fairly large family (who all like toast) I finally decided it was time to buy an electric toaster. Up until now, I had got by using the grill on my cooker, but it was becoming an increasingly time consuming process to prepare enough toast for everybody in the house. My actual requirements were fairly basic, any toaster I bought would have to be able to cook 4 slices at once, be silver in colour (to match the rest of my kitchen appliances) and be as cheap as possible. The Tefal Avanti Deluxe four slice toaster fulfilled all these criteria, and a little more besides, and at £24.99 in Argos it was an absolute bargain that I simply couldn't miss. ...I have had this toaster for a few months - and wow! It is a little on the pricey side when you consider you can buy a cheap one in tescos now for under a tenner but this is definitely worth it. It comes in a chrome finish with 4 angled slots. There is a memory facility on there which means you can program in how you like your toast to be done. Just press the button, slide the bars down and voila! Very handy if different members of your family like their toast done different ways. There's also a crumpet button and a bagel button. If you use the memory facility with these it will automatically adjust the timings to make sure your bagel or crumpet comes out browned to perfection. It also has a crumb catcher underneath. ...I bought this toaster last year, to go with my new kitchen. It looks good with chrome/black finish. I normally get a cheaper model, Asda's own, but they only last a few months if you use them every day. i would say don't buy cheap, buy a good toaster like this, that will last with daily family use. This toaster even has a high pop up and even an eject button, for when you've toasted crumpets or bagels etc Since I have had this toaster, Ive never had any problems, and most different sized breads fit in to it, and its quite fast and makes good toast, and is a good looker, and very easy to clean. ...Wait for it, yes you guessed it, this was another wedding present. This time from my brother-in-law. I had a cheap two slice toaster, which just isn't quick enough for 2 people, so I added a nice expensive 4 slice toaster onto my wedding list. I chose this Tefal model due to its list of functions and also the design as I was changing everything in my kitchen from plastic to chrome.
