Advantages: Energy saver. Only heat what you want. Filtered water.
Disadvantages: Water not hot enough to make a Pot noodle.

...My son bought me this the week before christmas so I could enjoy it while he sunned himself in Moroco. Anyway to the unit itself. Well boxed so no way it was going to get damaged if posted somewhere. At first glance out of the box it looks nothing like a kettle as you know it. The only work you have to do when its out of the box is to fit the filter into the water tank. Its not easy if you have big hands. Mine are average and I still found it hard to turn the filter clockwise to fit it into the holder. When its in though thats it. You first fill up the onboard water resevoire, either by taking of the molded plastic cover and using another jug to pour water in, or you can lift the tank off and putting it under the tap. ...The Tefal quick cup is a great accessory to our home. My partner makes more drinks now we have this than ever before. This is quick and energy efficient. Perfectly hot every time! I like the fact you can have cold filtered water or hot water for your cup of tea/coffee. I think the shape is great and fits nicely on your work space. It has an easy to remove compartment to put water in. I find this item rather noisy and it dribbles a lot after some drinks are made. (could be just mine though). We are on our second Kettle as the first stopped heating the water after two weeks. We got the item replaced quickly though without fuss. The filters are quite pricey and in my opinion difficult to put in. I tried several times to no avail so now don't bother using the filter! ...I bought this item in August 2007 as i have a lead feed pipe to my home so I was really attracted to the idea of have filtered water straight from a "kettle". Having got the unit home and rinsed through it was put to work making a brew of both Tea and Coffee. My wife is the Tea drinker and was a litlle disapointed that the water was not as hot as a normal kettle and the Tea bag needed agitation to ensure that sufficient flavour was gained. On the coffee side I was happy that the instant powder was not scorched as this does make the drink bitter. I did agree that the drink was not as hot as usual but soon worked out the secret of the Quick Cup.... the first few seconds of water are not as hot as the rest. ...Great efficiency, as the only tea drinker in the household, this product is extremely efficient - hot water in only 3 seconds - it does puff & blow a bit (similar to the noises made on Red Mountain coffee adverts!). Tefal claims energy saving up to 65% , compared to a standard kettle. I work shifts and often come in from work, put the kettle on and then wander off distracted, waiting for it to boil, frequently I would come back to the kettle and find it had cooled so i would have to switch it on again - wasting electricity. ...Thought this would be a revoloution, but alas, it wasn't to be! We saw this being advertised on television on one of the shopping channels after we bought ours and didn't play up at all like ours did, ours made SOO much noise it was silly and it would also vibrate an awful lot. The cool function also wasn't cool, it was luke warm which is not what you want if you are expecting cold water! The water capacity is the same (maybe a little less) as an average kettle so nothing really to compare on that front. With prices around the £60 mark, it does make it an expensive purchase but with Tefal's claims of the energy saving ('Up to 65% energy saving compared to a standard kettle') it could be worth the investment depending on how much hot water you use. Anyway the sad truth its great, not 3 seconds great, but around 20 -25 seconds with our preferred size mugs for a nearly instant tea or coffee. ...I have a read a few reviews about this product saying that it does not boil the water, may I say that is the main reason I bought it. When I was in a hurry, usually in a morning you make a hot drink and try to guzzle it down before rushing out, there was never any time to let the drink cool down which resulted in a burnt mouth and blisters. Then suddenly, Hey Presto , you can make a drink and have it straight away. I also bought one for my mother and she is thrilled with it. She no longer has to lift a heavy boiling kettle. She is able to see exactly how much water is in it, she can have a hot coffee, a cuppa soup of a cool filtered drink. ...I am so pleased I replaced my mother's Brita-filtered kettle with the Tefal QuickCup. This is a much safer option over the old kettle for my 80-year-old mother that can only walk with the aid of a frame. Both her old kettle and the Tefal Quick Cup hold about 1.7 litres of water and rather than remove the Quick Cup's water tank she fills it, as she did with her old kettle, using a small plastic jug from the cold tap. Unlike the kettle there is no need to lift a cumbersome and heavy kettle full of boiling hot water to pour it into her cup for her drink of tea. To prepare a perfect cup of tea, all she does is place her cup under the nozzle and simply presses the red hot button once to start the water and again to stop it when it is half full.
