Nice Rice!
Review of Tefal 3682.15 by
Lizzieanne15
Advantages: So easy to use
Disadvantages: None so far!
...I received the Tefal 3.2l Classic automatic rice cooker as a present from my Mum - Good old Mum!
To be honest, whenever I thought about the concept of a rice cooker, I thought, "What's the point?" Surely a saucepan or a microwave would cook rice just as well? Every friend I asked agreed with this theory - they all seem to either boil rice in a saucepan on the hob or in a microwave.
So it was with trepidation that I first tried out my new rice cooker one lunchtime, to make a risotto. I thought, mistakenly, that you could only cook plain rice in this new gadget, but the instruction leaflet contains recipes for risottos, pasta, steamed vegetables and fruit.
My rice cooker looks much like a slow cooker, with a non-stick internal bowl plus a basket that sits inside the bowl. The basket is used for steaming fruit and veg...

Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer
Review of Tefal Steam Cuisine 1000 Turbo Diffusion Steamer by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Great idea saves time
Disadvantages: None
...Well, it had to happen, I suppose. All good things must come to a end, as they say. Our faithful steamer gave up the ghost after nearly eight years of Stirling steaming service.
Time, we realised, to buy a new one. We decided to make our purchase of a new steamer at the BBC Good Food Show. After circling round and round the stands and displays several times ("too small, too big, doesn't look quite good enough, no WAY" are we paying that much!") we discovered the Tefal stand.
We both fell in love with the Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer. My comment was: "My god, it looks like something out of Star Trek voyager!" For yes, indeed, the Tefal Steam Cuisine steam cooker does look incredibly funky and very, very modern. It also has, for the amount of food that it can cook, a relatively small footprint. And this is, in the tiny and pokey...

Chopsticks optional
Review of Tefal RK700015 by
J----
Advantages: Perfect rice every time,
Disadvantages: Don't cook 'quick cook' rice in it as it comes out as a sticky mess
...We eat quite a bit of rice, some we cook at home and some we get from the Indian and Chinese takeaway. Our Friday night treat is a Chinese take out and our midweek 'can't be bothered to cook' treat night (usually a Tuesday for some reason) is usually an Indian takeout. On a recent economy drive we worked out how much we would save by not buying takeout rice; it comes to about £10 a month which doesn't sound a lot till you work out we spend around £120 a year on take out rice. Buying a rice maker then became a perfectly reasonable investment.
After a bit of research we decided to go for the RK700015 also known as the Tefal Electronic Multi Cooker. This is a combined rice cooker, slow cooker and steamer. It is a fairly compact round machine; its dimensions are 29 x 28 x 28 cm (H, W, D) so it doesn't take up much space; about the same...

So you think you don't need one?
Review of Tefal RK700015 by
bubblegum_princess
Advantages: Easy to use; perfect fluffy rice, easy to clean
Disadvantages: None
...and begin leaking water everywhere so we decided to opt for the Tefal RK700015.
Compared to our old rice cooker, the Tefal is a monster of a contraption, capable of cooking rice for 10 people. Fairly big, the size of a large saucepan, it looks pretty stylish in silver and black. It comes in 2 parts, the outer container which contains the heating device and has a smart click-shut lid, and the non-stick pan, which is where the rice goes into and just fits inside the cooker.
*Price*
We bought ours from Amazon.co.uk for £39.99 and it comes with a free 12 month warranty.
*How to use*
The best thing about the rice cooker is the ease of use - it really is designed for those who struggle to boil an egg! It can cook every type of rice I've ever heard of - plain, brown, basmati, jasmine. Everything is done from the snazzy but simple...

A Must For Rice Eaters
Review of Goldair Rice Cooker and Food Steamer by
elvina
Advantages: So easy to cook great rice
Disadvantages: None
...After my husband went on a trip to Japan he returned saying that we must get a rice cooker, apparently everyone over there has one. I was a bit dubious but we bought one. We bought the Goldair PRS50230. Not only does it cook rice but it can be used to steam food such as vegetables, meat and fish on a little steamer basket that comes with it.
We bought this model because of the price, it was one of the cheapest on the market at the time at about £25.00.
It was a good buy. It is so easy to cook rice in it, no more getting the rice overcooked, undercooked or just horrible. The important thing is to wash the rice well first in cold water till the water comes clear. You then add the measured amount of rice (using the measure supplied) and measured amount of cold water to the steamer, put the lid on and turn it on. No fuss...

Hot and Steamy
Review of Tefal Tefal by
Barb
Advantages: Healthy way to cook food, retaining full natural flavours, as well as most vitamins and mineral salts.
Disadvantages: Timer works when appliance isn't even plugged in! Clip-on handle isn't supple enough and easily breaks!
...My mother-in-law bought the Tefal Steam Cuisine 1000 Turbo Diffusion for herself, but felt it wasn’t worth using for just one person (her husband doesn’t eat vegetables!) so she kindly gave it to me :-)
I had previously thought about getting myself one, but always assumed that they were expensive, I was wrong, this one only cost £32.95 from Argos. I also thought you could only cook vegetables in them. I could not be more wrong! As you will see further down this opinion.
The Tefal Steam Cuisine comprises 1 x 4 L bowl, 2 x 3L bowls (all clear and with easily removable bottoms), 1 x 1.1 L rice bowl, clip-on handle, separator and juice collector with integral egg holder. It also comes with comprehensive operating guidelines and a Healthy Eating Cookbook, full of recipes and meal ideas for using your steamer.
Each...

A Hot and Steamy Opinion
Review of Tefal Tefal by
Dalesman
Advantages: Gives a new awareness of common vegetables
Disadvantages: none
...Ok, this is not sex, drugs and rock and roll, sorry if you've been dragged here by the title, however you could do yourelf a favour by learning about an old way of cooking with a relatively new type of cooking implement, I am talking cooking by steaming your food...
Yes it used to be boring, messy and time consuming, you only used to get steamed food in hospitals and it was largely tasteless....
However you can kick all those thoughts into touch, with the onset of a series of steam cookers from Tefal, I bought the basic model last year and it really change those tasteless boring common vegetables into tasty, healthy and nutritious food, no over cooking, and no standing over the cooker whilst it all cooked. these steam cookers have definitely changed the way I view cooked vegetables.
The range of steamers from Tefal varies from...

Slow Cooker...Right Up My Street
Review of Hinari Lifestyle Slow Cooker SC350 by
purebitch
Advantages: An easy way to cook,
Disadvantages: NONE
...I invested in a slow cooker, purely by accident. As some of you may know, I hate cooking. The thought of throwing everything into a slow cooker and leaving it alone all day, appealed to me. However, this slow cooker that I am writing about, was originally bought for some one else. It was to be a present for someone, who had been saying that they wanted one for while. When we bought it, we liked it, and to be honest I wanted to keep it! As things turn out, the present was returned to us, as it wasn't big enough for the amount of food this person wanted to cook in it.
************************LOOKS************************
This slow cooker is in three parts. There is a lid, an outer pot and an inner pot. It is quite stylish to look at, and it is not over sized. It quite happily sits in the corner, on my work top.
The lid is glass...

PUTS THE SEX BACK INTO VEGETABLES
Review of Tefal Tefal by
LostWitness
Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: See review
...glad I did.
I eventually purchased the Tefal Steam Cuisine for just under £40. Having read positive things here on Ciao, and having had a look at the rest of the range (which was rather limited) I concluded that this was probably the best model around. I purchased mine from Comet (sorry) but I have seen this model in a number of places so it is very easy to get hold of.
The steamer works on a very simple premise. A hot water tank at the base contains a heating element that heats the water, continuously causing steam to rise upwards through specially designed steam baskets which hold your choice of food items. There are three baskets, each of which stacks on top of the other, which means that you can effectively cook three completely different foods at once – which makes this an extremely efficient way of cooking. The equipment...
