Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer
Review of Tefal Steam Cuisine 1000 Turbo Diffusion Steamer by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Great idea saves time
Disadvantages: None
...Well, it had to happen, I suppose. All good things must come to a end, as they say. Our faithful steamer gave up the ghost after nearly eight years of Stirling steaming service.
Time, we realised, to buy a new one. We decided to make our purchase of a new steamer at the BBC Good Food Show. After circling round and round the stands and displays several times ("too small, too big, doesn't look quite good enough, no WAY" are we paying that much!") we discovered the Tefal stand.
We both fell in love with the Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer. My comment was: "My god, it looks like something out of Star Trek voyager!" For yes, indeed, the Tefal Steam Cuisine steam cooker does look incredibly funky and very, very modern. It also has, for the amount of food that it can cook, a relatively small footprint. And this is, in the tiny and pokey...

This iron has a corrosion free boiler, which is made of stainless steel; this helps it to last a lot longer than ordinary irons.

Tefal Steam Cuisine
Review of Tefal 6161.15 by
tblake7
Advantages: Healthy Meals and very in-expensive
Disadvantages: Washing it is a bit of a pain
...I bought my steamer about 2 years ago and used it fairly often...until I bought my George Foreman Fat Reducing Grilling Machine...
Ok I have to admit that steaming is probably the healthiest way to cook, but using the grilling machine is so much faster and less hassle.
I was using my steamer to cook vegetables on one level and salmon on the other...what a pain it is to clean after you have cooked fish in it. You really have to scrub it hard to get all the bits out of the steaming rack that sits inside. Even soaking it doesn't get the bits out. At least with the George Foreman, you give it one wipe over and it is spotless. Cooking on the grill takes about 5 minutes whereas the steamer can take around 25-45 minutes (Tefals recommendation) for vegetables and 15-25 minutes for chicken.
I do like the cooking time instructions on the front...

Tefal Protect
Review of Tefal GV 9150 Protect Turbo by
drow22
Advantages: Reduced ironing time
Disadvantages: Very Expensive
...Tefal GV 9150 Protect Turbo
Out of all the household tasks ironing is the one I hate and the one I am useless at. So when my iron died a death a couple of months ago I thought I would invest in a steam generator iron. Whilst they are expensive they all claimed to cut your ironing time down by half, which sounded good to me. I opted for the Tefal Protect Turbo as I liked the idea that you could cover it with a hood and put it away still hot, without fear of scorching anything. And also with a small child in the house I also liked the protect function. Having said that I always wait to iron until he is in bed to avoid accidents.
.
Ok so what's the iron Tefal Protect like?
Well there is no picture on Ciao so I will try and describe the iron too you. All steam generator irons are much bulkier than your standard iron...

Reliable Tefal
Review of Tefal Integral Iron by
backstreetwoman
Advantages: Reliability of Tefal, top of the range cookware
Disadvantages: None
...I have become a bit of a Tefal lover over the past couple of years, mainly because of the reliability of course, but also for the look. Yes, I know, a typical 'girlie' thing!
Amongst my many Tefal products is my set of Integral Saucepans bought for me by my daughter. After I constantly moaned about my previous set of pans that had seen better days, she very sweetly bought them for me from QVC who often have Tefal hours presented by the lovely Annette Baker-Malpas.
The Integral Saucepans are the top of the range of Tefal pans and quite simply, the best. As well as the well-known non-stick interior favoured by Tefal, the Integral saucepans, which come in a very attractive slate grey colour - ideally suited for most kitchen colour schemes - they have toughened glass lids, which won't shatter easily, and have steam vents which can...

Full steam ahead
Review of Tefal Tefal by
chinnyli
Advantages: Can cook my entire lunch/dinner, healthy, quick, almost effortless, doesn't need watching
Disadvantages: Doesn't cook rice well, not ideal for cooking food at varying lengths of times
...to hire a cook. However, I remembered that my dad used to steam most of our dinners, using an extraordinarily large metal bowl part filled with water, with a separator thing keeping a dish of meat and vegetables above the water while it boiled. Well I wasn't about to buy the same thing - I'm too likely to accidentally knock the whole bowl with boiling water over, or scalding myself while trying to lift food out. But I thought of another possibility... an electric steamer.
Turning to my trusty Argos catalogue, I picked out the cheapest steamer I could find from a brand I trusted: Tefal's Steamer Aqua Timer for £24.50.
---- Physical details ----
The steamer consists of a white base to which a non-detachable electrical cord and plug is attached. This is where you fill up water, and there are both internal and external water level...

This steam iron is a real blast!
Review of Tefal 2910 Express by
GrimTweaker
Advantages: Makes ironing easy, ergonomic design, lots of available steam
Disadvantages: Heavy, and needs a special ironing board for maximum effectiveness.
...I'll come clean. I never usually do much ironing. Mrs Tweaker takes care of that. (I do the cooking as payback) However, I accidentally broke her last Tefal steam iron by trying to use de-scaler in it (You're not supposed to do this) so I was duly dispatched to buy a new one.
That's when I spotted the Tefal "Pro-Express".
For starters, it's more ergonomically designed than its predecessor. It looks good. The iron now rests on its base at an angle, easier to handle like this and slightly harder to accidentally knock off it's perch.
The other advantage is the new way of filling the steam reservoir. In the old model, you had to unscrew a rather chunky valve-like bung, and pour water inside. It was hard to see the water level, and difficult to know when you had run out. In the Pro express, it's easy. There's a detachable reservoir...

Tefal gv8150 pro express turbo, the best tefal yet
Review of Tefal GV 8150 by
cat1510
Advantages: Continuous steam, 2 minutes heat up, great steam output and great finish
Disadvantages: cleaning required on a regular basis
...I run a small ironing business and I have used many tefal irons in my time. I can honestly say that the GV8150 is the best yet. It give a great finish to clothes in half the time and is ideal for large or small loads. The steam output is great for all fabrics and the turbo boost of steam really helps with stubborn creases.
Another advantage is that it has continuous steam so you can carry on ironing even if you run out of water. This has come a long way from the lesser steam generators when you had to wait for the steam to settle before opening it to refill it. This was time consuming and quite dangerous for the ones who tried to speed the process up(a few minor scalds on my hands on occassions)
It also heats up in about | | |
