...Well, it had to happen, I suppose. All good things must come to a end, as they say. Our faithful steamer gave up the ghost after nearly eight years of Stirling steaming service. Time, we realised, to buy a new one. We decided to make our purchase of a new steamer at the BBC Good Food Show. After circling round and round the stands and displays several times ("too small, too big, doesn't look quite good enough, no WAY" are we paying that much!") we discovered the Tefal stand. We both fell in love with the Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer. My comment was: "My god, it looks like something out of Star Trek voyager!" Tefal steams into the lead

...This is a great product from tefal. Accesories include a rice cooker. There are three shelves, you can also cook six eggs at a time. There's a helpful guide telling you how long to put different kinds of food in. Its self assembly but the parts click together easily. Comes with a built in timer and stainless steel base so it will fit in with most modern kitchens and it looks expensive. You could cook a full meal, steamed potatoes, and veg with some chicken fillets and have the healthiest meal possible. We got ours from currys in the january sale for £26.41. My girl friend is constantly wanting to buy new things to steam. The boiled eggs we had this morning were excellent. Good price for a quality name and excellent product. I'd highly reccomend buying one for yourself!...

Tefal Steam Cuisine

Advantages: Healthy Meals and very in-expensive
Disadvantages: Washing it is a bit of a pain

...I bought my steamer about 2 years ago and used it fairly often...until I bought my George Foreman Fat Reducing Grilling Machine... Ok I have to admit that steaming is probably the healthiest way to cook, but using the grilling machine is so much faster and less hassle. I was using my steamer to cook vegetables on one level and salmon on the other...what a pain it is to clean after you have cooked fish in it. You really have to scrub it hard to get all the bits out of the steaming rack that sits inside. Even soaking it doesn't get the bits out. At least with the George Foreman, you give it one wipe over and it is spotless. Cooking on the grill takes about 5 minutes whereas the steamer can take around 25-45 minutes (Tefals recommendation) for vegetables and 15-25 minutes for chicken. I do like the cooking time instructions on the front...

Tefal Actifry absolutely fantastic indeed

...I was thinking about buying one of the Tefal Actifrys for sometime about 1 year to be exact. I was not disappointed at all and it is fantastic. You must ensure though that you really rinse the potatoes well to get rid of the starch and not only that dry the potatoes before you add them to the actifry. You only need 1 tablespoon of oil, any oil will do but I prefer a good quality olive oil, the chips turned out perfect, I didn't need to do them for the full 35-40 minutes stated as they were cooked in 30 minutes but I cannot rate this Actifry highly enough. Dietetics departments recommend this too so it must be good. I am well impressed, Don't worry, get one....

I did wonder about spending such a lot on an iron (I paid 200!), but I am just starting a little ironing business from home so thought I could justify the expense. Firstly the features. 150g per minute continuous steam, 170g turbo steam shot. This might not mean anything to you as it didn't to me, so let me explain. A normal iron makes a little bit of steam, but seems to stop and start. This beast of an iron makes steam continuously (which is released when you press and hold the steam button), and it is generated with such power as to turn the iron into an hovercraft!! Thane direct steam mop - doesn't do what it says !

Advantages: Heats to steam quickly - probably heat of kills germs as steam is hot
Disadvantages: Leaves floors very, wet. End up double cleaning everything - covers poor - waste of space!

...Not impressed with the H20 steam mop product, which falls far short of the detailed TV advert performance. On hard floors it leaves them sopping wet, not so much of a problem on a matt finish amtico type floor but with laminate, there's no way you could leave it . Ended up with twice the work, having to use my superwonder mop to wipe all excess water to leave floor with decent finish when dry. Even on clean carpet which is just being freshened to kill any germs that might be in the carpet, it seems to roll any dirt in almost fluff balls which then have to be vacuumed again when it dries. It seems to double the work involved whatever the surface. The covers provided are also pretty poor in fit and quality with a tendency to come off - difficult to put back on with heat. It is a leader in non-stick cookware, pressure cookers, electrical cooking appliances, food and beverage preparation, irons and scales. The toaster I ordered from Amazon is, to give it its full name, a Tefal TT704115 Avanti Toaster, 2 Slice, Chrome and Black. Compared to old toasters (including my broken one) it is rather stylish and modern. The angled top is chrome and the case is black plastic.
