Dinosaur R-O. Not My Phone Number...
Review of Number Of The Beast, The [ECD] - Iron Maiden by
Tribute
Advantages: MAIDEN MAIDEN
Disadvantages: -
...The following op was written as my entry for the 29thCandidate's "Dinosaur Rock-Off":
Yes it’s another write off from the king of all write off organiser people – 29th Candidate. This one is to commemorate the death of one of rocks finest musicians – John Entwistle, the guitarist with The Who. His death is of a great loss not only to music, but also to an entire generation who shall not hear his unique style of music. Lets hope that all in heaven (as if there is a place) are enjoying his presence up there.
Now on with the opinion. This ‘Dinosaur Rock-Off’ is a competition that challenges members to write about a truly great rock album that has truly changed their lives. I have chosen Iron Maidens ‘Number Of The Beast’
I may as well tell it all from the beginning, as if I don’t, references later on the review will become more...

Whos Bad!!!!! Michael Jacksons Number Ones.
Review of Number Ones - Michael Jackson by
BUBBLES171
Advantages: A lot of the good old songs he sang.
Disadvantages: his life at the moment.
...I am writing this review and opinion as a fair one, I have my personal opinions on him but this is not what this is about.
No matter what has gone on in the past, Michael Jackson is a legend. He even has a monkey named after me lol.
My next door neighbour from my last place idolises him and will not hear a bad thing said against him so for Christmas I decided to get her the Michael Jackson Number Ones.
Now Ciao, tut, tut, if your trying to catch me out to see if I have got this cd, then I must point out to you that you have the wrong picture on the review heading. Ciao shows it as Michael jumping sideways. This is actually one of the pictures inside the cd and is not the main cover.
The CD Cover
--------------------
Very basic, white front and back cover with a picture of Michael Jackson with his had on his head...

666 the number of the best album produced by man
Review of Number Of The Beast, The [ECD] - Iron Maiden by
bbjbb
Advantages: Breataking riffs, smashing vocals, orgianl metal at its best biggest and loudest
Disadvantages: the album is near enough perfection
...Number of the Beast is perhaps the best Iron Maiden Studio album ever produced. It captures the heart and soul of what Iron maiden are about from the opening chord on invaders to the last drum beat at the end of hallowed be thy name. This album is simply a masterpiece.
In the early 1980's Iron Maiden were propelling themselevs into stardome. However they had to change vocalists from the falling apart drug ridden Paul Di'anno to the electrifying Bruce Dickinson just before the recording of this album. Bruce bourght the spark that shot them from a good band to superstars, with high powered vocal rythms and a voice that was so powerful it could encapulate any audience world wide. On stage Bruce added dynamite and energy to shows, not really seen before at gigs. Even bands such as Judas Priest and Ozzy who were at the top then couldnt...

Number one Song in Heaven Sparks
Review of Number One In Heaven - Sparks by
terriano
Advantages: more beat and melody than you can handle
Disadvantages: it ends
...seemingly goes on forever or at least six minutes or so.
Most great albums have a track which radically departs from its main body of work,in this case its "My Other Voice "so sublime and strange yet hypnotic and euphoric that you might think that you have died and gone to heaven, its backward symbols intro makes way for an electronic angelic choir which in turn submits to a spaghetti western guitar line before the cherubic Russell sings of the joy of having two voices ,the song makes no sense at all in the real world but in the abstract surrealism of The Mael Brothers /Sparks it all makes complete sense of course ,but you will never hear a song so staggeringly different within the realms of a pop song .
In perverse and awkward Sparks fashion the title track is also the last, the sprawling electro epic"The Number One Song in Heaven "in its...

A Load of Number Twos
Review of Number 1 - Racine by
Soho_Black
Advantages: A couple of tracks aren't too bad
Disadvantages: Most of them are pretty lame
...'t sound all that interested again. Like others earlier on the album, this is another long track and again one that I'd lost interest in long before the final note.
There's a drum beat at the start of "Deluxe" that reminds me of Terence Trent D'Arby's "Sign Your Name", but the music on this is more like a lounge act than anything else. The vocals are more varied than on most of the tracks, but with very little variation in the guitar lines, it does drag out a little, especially with a running time of more than four minutes once more.
Thankfully at this point the album is over and I'm not at all sad to reach the end. Admittedly, when you go into an album (or, indeed, anything) with certain expectations, as I did here, the chance of disappointment is always increased. However, even had I put "Number One" on with a clear mind, I suspect I...

They Really are Magic
Review of Magic Numbers, The - Magic Numbers (The) by
mr_kipling
Advantages: Hippy, makes you want to smile ear-to-ear music.
Disadvantages: Can get dull towards the end
...in gradually with chords, to be met by Romeo Stodarts lyrics, and then a riff section of a bouncy bassline. This up and down system goes on to the chorus which is a banjo fest of breathtaking harmonies, until the song calms off for a quiet section. This song is a real mixed bag! There are more banjos before the end of this over 5 munite track, which is the longest on the album. It could be shorter and does begin to drag but at least the album is not the 'Numbers 'Be Here Now'.
Number two is the first single 'Forever Lost'. This has recived alot of airplay on Radio 1, 6 Music and MTV 2 to name a few, and, like the abum, has been very sucessful. Its another fast pased hippy song with upbeat bass and a great melodice (now thats not an instrument used in many rock bands) again, the song has sublime melodies, but the bridge si what makes the song...

99 Reasons to Love The 80's
Review of Original 80s Number 1s Album, The (18 Number One Hits From Across The Decade) - Various Artists by
supercityfan
Advantages: 18 Wonderful Number one Tracks from the 80's
Disadvantages: None
...My wife was in Woolworths the other day, and whilst browsing at the albums which were in the sale she came upon this wonderful collection for the remarkable price of 99p. That's right you get change out of a pound. I must admit it's not the greatest 80's album in the world but what do you expect for a pound.
Cover Design
This is pretty uninspiring but having said that it must have done something to attract my wifes attention. Basically, the album cover is black, with 56 purple circles with the number 1 in yellow emblazoned within each purple circle to signify the fact only number 1 singles are included on the album. Near the top of the cover, the album title is emblazoned in yellow, and a selection of artists is detailed at the foot of the cover to attract your attention.
Tracks
What the album lacks in design it certainly...

Magic & Unique
Review of Magic Numbers, The - Magic Numbers (The) by
blonde_girl774
Advantages: Very original, some brilliant tracks, suits the majority of listeners.
Disadvantages: A few weak links, not very well known at all.
...The Magic Numbers are a fairly recent addition to the music scene in comparison to some of the firmly established bands of our time. I'd never even heard of them until a couple of weeks ago when they appeared on one of the music channels so I wouldn't be surprised if you're sat thinking who the hell is she on about! Their first and only album was released in the UK back in June 2005 and has proved to be mildly popular. You may be familiar with their Top 20 single entitled Forever Lost or their second single Love Me Like You.
The group consists of four individuals who happen to be two separate sets of siblings. The first set is Trinidad born brother Romeo and sister Michele, both responsible for vocals and the former responsible for the majority of the song writing. The second set is London born brother Sean on drums and sister Angela...

Get Your Hands Off My Nob
Review of Number Of The Beast, The [ECD] - Iron Maiden by
Paiceyjohn
Advantages: Ground Breaking Album
Disadvantages: None
...It’s a long one... The opinion, I mean!
In the beginning was the word and the word was ROCK. The gods of Metal gazed down upon this firmament and gave us great gifts. And man was grateful. Lo! he went forth and created cacophonous sounds with curious looking pointy tools. Yea! it was good.
But soon FOREIGNERs came and the gift was stolen. Man trembled in the darkness and feared that he would never be delivered from our suffering. Condemned eternally to endure melodic harmonies from idiots with home perms.
But the barren times, as they were later to be known, could only last a short while as the metal gods did smite these impostors, returning them to the perverse lands from whence they came. Preparing us for the second coming and the New Wave.
It’s all true. Honest. This is officially number two in my series...

WERE SAVED BRUCE IS HERE
Review of Number Of The Beast, The [ECD] - Iron Maiden by
devonm
Advantages: Having Bruce Dickinson instead of Paul Di'Anno

...IRON MAIDEN NUMBER OF THE BEAST
Genre Heavy Metal
The Band: Bruce Dickinson vocals
Dave Murry Guitars
Adrian Smith Guitars
Steve Harris Bass Guitar
Clive Burr Drums
Original release 1982 EMI Records Record and Tape
Bruce is on the loose! Bruce Dickinson that is, the writer, master swordsman and poet takes the mic for the first time after Paul Di'Anno left the band. Thank God for that! Bruce is a much better singer and has a better stage pressence and really gets the crowd going.
Tracks
Invaders, song about a battle invaders looting and pillaging
Children Of The Dammed, song taken from the horror film with the same name.
Prisoner, the intro is the Prisoner tv series with Patric Mcguian trapped in a village as number 6. the clip taken was when he was talking to number 2 and was told he was a number, "im...
