Advantages: Very cheap international phone rates Disadvantages: There are none
...I make a lot of long distance, international phone calls. I mean a lot. I call the states several times a week. I also don't talk for just a short time, I talk like it is a free local call. Lots of catching up to do with family and friends you know. I even still call my favourite local shops in the states to order gifts, flowers, and restaurant gift vouchers. I needed a good long distance phone carrier. I've experimented with a couple, but none proved to be that cheap. Until I found OneTel!
OneTel is simple to use. Once you register your telephone number with them, they issue you a 4 digit code to dial before you enter the phone number that you want to ring. That's it! Easy as that! I never have problems accessing and rarely have problems with OneTel having busy circuits. I can talk as long as I want to my family...

Advantages: Cheaper international calls, fixed rate 1p per min internet access Disadvantages: None
...OneTel is a great company that gives you very good rates on national and international calls made from the UK and also the option of an Internet connection that costs no more then one penny per minute at ALL times. This is very good value for those that want to surf at odd times during the day but don’t want to have to pay through the nose for an unlimited use package with another ISP.
If you sign up for the cheap national/international calls service via the website at www.onetel.co.uk, you can claim a £2 calling credit as a new customer bonus. Registration is very straightforward and once completed, you will be emailed confirmation including lots of welcome information and a Home or Away Calling Card. The card enables you to make calls from any phone in the world and enjoy the same discounts as you would from home. OneTel also...

Advantages: Excellent value and service, no credit card needed Disadvantages: Not available in all areas
...Some time ago I was in a sorry state of affairs trying to balance my internet addiction against huge phone bills, not an easy task.
So why not just sign up for an unmetered access account with say, BT or AOL etc you may ask? Well if, like me, you are not in possession of a bank account for various reasons and your credit cards are in little pieces in the bin (best place for them!) then you are severely limited in your choices and have little option but to count the pennies whilst online.
That is until a little One-Tel leaflet fell out of a magazine. The words that caught my eye were £12.99 per month, 'no credit card needed'! Whoop de doo! I made a phone call, was given a freephone number by a friendly member of staff and within minutes I was surfing as if it were going out of style without the worry of watching the minutes clock...

Advantages: Cheap calls Disadvantages: Unhelpful customer support, seem to be incapable of taking and modyfying details.
...I decided to sign-up with OneTel for two reasons. The first and foremost one was to get internet access for 1p per minute which they where offering at the time and the second was to be able call a couple of friends who were living abroad at the time. The service I received at the time was less than helpful
When I signed up for the internet service I was told there would be a 4 hour delay as they would need to update their access files, but the guy on the other end of the phone gave me all the configuration settings which I took and then proceeded to set up on my PC.
I tried to log in around 6 hrs later and constantly got invalid username and password. I rang OneTel to see if there was a problem and they took my details and said that there was no problem, but to wait another 4 hours just to be sure. I decided to wait overnight...

Advantages: Very cheap for limited use Disadvantages: Slightly slower than some ISPs
...OneTel.Net is an ISP with a different charging structure to most others. There are no sign-up or monthly charges, you only pay for connect time (at 1p/min at any time), and access is via an 0808 freephone number, so there are normally no phone call costs. Billing is by direct debit.
I signed up for the service mainly as a cheap ISP for mobile use with my Nokia communicator on Orange (calls to 0808 numbers are free for Orange contract customers, see other opinion), also as a backup ISP for RedHotAnt, which is sometimes difficult to connect to (see other opinion). I have found it excellent for these purposes, and 1p/min is very reasonable for daytime access.
As I mainly use the service for internet access only, I can't comment on other services provider, which include a pop3/IMAP email account,
SMTP server (have used that - seems...

Advantages: You get to keep more of your own money! Disadvantages: Please tell me.
...If there is still anyoneout there using B.T`s exhorbitant rates to ring around the world I suggest that they either have their head examined OR sign up asap to "onetel".
We`ve been using them for over four years since they started and it must have saved us thousands of pounds in calls to various parts of the world.
My wifes mother lives in Toronto and long calls are made to her every week as she is now quite elderly and infirmed. What do "one-tel charge?Just 4p a minute so a 30 minute call is about £1.20.(They have recently reduced the cost from 5 to 4p a min!) We have other relatives in Canada and they are phoned frequently as well. Our niece is living in Dallas in the U.S. and the charges to there are an unbelievable 3p a minute! All these rates are 24 hours a day including VAT!The rates to other family in the rest of the world...

...On browsing through the morning paper I found an advert for OneTel, they promised fast access to the internet for only 1p a minute, with no connection charges just 1p a minute all day, every day. On seeing this I decided that it would be a lot cheaper to register with OneTel net than my existing ISP. So I connected I found that the access was fast and reliable. You can get through every time you try to connect!I recommend this to EVERYONE, there is not one person who I think in sane mind could doubt the fact that this service is excellent and at a reasonable price...

Advantages: Very Cheap calls if you choose the right package. Disadvantages: None that I have come across.
...Hi....I was looking avidly for a landline service that would help me out as I needed to make calls to the USA. I needed something that wouldnt be expensive and that I didnt need to use any coded numbers either. So ease of use was a factor for me.
I had checked out several of them and found that One.Tel offered the best value. The site was easy to navigate and it gave you quite a lot of options to choose from. Lots of combo packages to cover your particular needs. You could tailor the package to do just that, it even gave you a Q and A sequence to help you find the right package for 'you'. This I found to be most helpful because when you first check a site out there is so much information to take in you dont always make the right choices.
For me it was simple, I wanted cheap International calls and I had found what I was looking...
