...This site was not a great site when I use to go to it before but it has had a number of changes which has caused me to change my opinion because I think that it is much better now. Teletext reports up to date coverage of the news which is useful and it has done for a long while. It also offers you sports news and entertainment and other general information, it is good at what it has been doing and should continue in that way. The new site is much more faster and this has got to be my personal favourite quality it offers as I can on occasion be impatient. It is generally more better and I would recommend it to people....

Free messages from teletext to mobile

Advantages: It`s free
Disadvantages: you get small adverts with your messages

...A new service from teletext has become avaliable to anyone in the uk who owns a mobile phone and it`s great, why i here you ask, well for a start its abslutely free, it can be used on any mobile phone on any network and setup only takes about 10 minutes. What is it? It is a great new messaging service providing you with information that appeals to you ie:you are at work on a saturday afternoon and your favourite football team is playing but you can`t have a radio on, it dosen`t matter because with teletext you can have goal flashes and/or the final score sent to your phone for free. Another example is your out on a saturday night but are eager to find out if you have won the lottery, well now, with the help of your mobile phone and teletext and a few minutes on their website you can. If you havent yet then dont bother

Advantages: Ummmm - saves having to turn your television on
Disadvantages: Can't compete with the likes of CNN, has no more information than the television pages

It is only this year that I discovered www.teletext.co.uk which is the online version of the 24 hour television / Digital TELETEXT news and information service. LAYOUT & DESIGN If you had not visited the website before, you would probably have had pre-conceptions of the layout and design of the website. This website has changed...

Advantages: Loads quickly and looks nice
Disadvantages: Has very little info

...So it says on the Homepage of www.teletext.co.uk. Too right it's changed. It used to have a slow-loading but fairly useful site with TV news and a letters page as well as holidays etc. Now, it has a quick-loading site with nice bright colours but hardly any content! Teletext was launched in 1993. It used to be called Oracle. It's odd that the ITV and Channel 4 Oracle pages were changed to Teletext as teletext is actually the name of the facility which allows you to watch Ceefax/Oracle as well. Anyway, the site states "The Teletext.co.uk website has changed to become a corporate information site and a resource for finding out where you can access Teletext on TV, the web and via mobile phones....Content areas of the previous Teletext.co.uk website including news, sport, entertainment and finance have been discontinued. Simply the Best Information Site in All Ways

...We all know and love the traditional teletext system found on all televisions nowadays but the company have now produced teletext.co.uk. This site is rather useful in comparison to its blocky sister. As with normal teletext this site provides very up to date news, sports news, current affairs, financial news as well as the normal teletext games. You can search for late holiday bargains and book online. You can check cinema times by location and by film. This site is very well presented, quick to load and easy to navigate as you would expect form an organisation of this stature. You can access this site either through a normal Internet connection, via WAP, and digital TV. You may register to have a login id so you are able to personalise your news so only things you are interested in are displayed, saving you time...

Booking via teletext

...Have you spent hours looking through teletext for holiday bargains only to find that they are not available when you get round to booking them - I have. Travel city direct, specialise in flights to Orlando and unlike others, when you ring them, the advertised flights are available at the advertised prices. The agents are helpful, not pushy at all and give genuine help and advice. I have used them now for several years and they continue to give the best value flight only or accommodation inclusive deals to Florida. Well done - keep up the good work...

Take the easy option with Teletext

Advantages: Some excellent offers, clipboard facility to keep track of possibilities
Disadvantages: Search facilities a bit limited if your not too sure where to go

...I find that booking holidays can be so stressful that you need the holiday to get over the stress from booking! Travel agents put pressure on you to take the higher priced deals, or are so damned useless you are in the office for 3 days just trying to communicate to them that you don't want to go on a package holiday to Benidorm. I hate it. I generally travel independently in any case, but last year I tried to book a lastminute break, ony to find that most lastminute deals aren't up to much. I got so fed up with travel agents I jsut bought an interrail pass and fled. Then my brother told me about Teletext.co.uk's holiday search.
