New Opinion - Temple Bar - The Never Ending Party
Review of Temple Bar, Dublin by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: The friendliest city in Europe
Disadvantages: Weather - lots of "liquid" sunshine
...~ ~ Mention the words “Temple Bar” to anyone from Europe or North America, and immediately you are likely to be regaled by stories of the wild time they have had while visiting this trendiest of bohemian districts in Ireland’s capital Dublin, or else how much they really want to go and pay a visit, as they’ve heard so much about it from their friends.
What is incredible about this is that as little as twenty years or so ago this district was nothing better than a run down (and fast becoming derelict) slum, right in the heart of the city, and not a stone’s throw from the city’s premier street, O’Connell Street.
A decision by the then Government to redevelop it as an entertainment and shopping area was almost laughed at, but has since proved its undoubted wisdom, as this district alone...

The great Temple :oP
Review of The Temple Bar (Dublin) by
purple_twix
Advantages: Great fun
Disadvantages: None
..., its is Isaac’s hostel ha! Ha!
When we had unpacked we asked a lady where the best place to go was and she directed us to the Temple bar, we decided that was where we were going to go for our 1st night.
After getting reading and being really excited to be in Dublin we made our way to the Temple bar. We thought it was just 1 bar and it wasn’t…it was a whole street of bars, pubs and clubs. It was great! We went into most of them. There was so many I can’t even remember them, but the two I do remember are Jesters and Down under. I really don’t want to comment on the wrest of the holiday as it might get me into trouble ;) Best keep my secrets between me, Kerry and Dublin ;)
Just walking through the Temple bar was great. It was very friendly and it was full of people. There were a few people playing music for money and there were people...

Temple Hotel, Matlock Bath
Review of Temple Hotel, Matlock Bath by
RClure
Advantages: lovely views with quality accommodation
Disadvantages: small ensuite, not the cheapest
.... This wasn't a problem and we were quoted £115 per room including breakfast for all of us. We knew this wasn't the best price but didn't try and negotiate as we were only staying one night whilst visiting friends in a nearby town. We were asked to give a £40 non-refundable deposit over the phone to confirm our booking. We were also pleased to discover that the hotel was now a completely no-smoking hotel. Within a few days we received a letter confirming our reservation.
On arrival we found the hotel had not changed much. You enter via a narrow doorway and immediately the bar is through a doorway on your right and there is a hallway with the hotel's logo of a temple woven in to the carpet. We followed the stairs up half a flight to the reception desk (still with the unique carpet) where we were greeted by a very helpful member of staff...

Right In The Heart of Temple Bar
Review of Morgan Hotel, Dublin by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: Style, elegance, every possible convenience, central, and very reasonably priced.
Disadvantages: No dining room or bar. Room service only.
...~ ~ When you walk through the front door of the Morgan Hotel you would be hard put to tell that it is located in the very heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar quarter, where every visitor to the city seems to congregate to visit what has become over the last decade the entertainment and nightlife centre of the city.
~ ~ Located in Fleet Street, just a stone’s throw from the River Liffey, it would be very easy to walk straight past the front entrance to a hotel that is now considered one of the “in” spots in Dublin. In fact, the front entrance to the Morgan is so small and discreet that if you happen to blink as you walk past, you’d probably miss it.
~ ~ This is cosmopolitan living of the highest standard.
Each of the Morgan’s 61 en-suite bedrooms are individually furnished in ultra-modern fashion...
