New Opinion - Temple Bar - The Never Ending Party
Review of Temple Bar, Dublin by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: The friendliest city in Europe
Disadvantages: Weather - lots of "liquid" sunshine
...contemporary art, and the Gallery of Photography, which is just what it says.
There is also the Temple Bar Music Centre, which doubles as a rehearsal and recording studio, when it is not making an absolute fortune as a very popular bar and music venue.
You have the Clarence Hotel, owned by the Irish rock band U2, and with its own famous night club at the rear called the “Kitchen”, which is a frequent haunt of not only the owners but also of a plethora of visiting stars, musicians, and both major and “wanabee” celebrities.
And last, but by no means least, you have the extremely hip and trendy Irish Film Centre, which (for the moment at least) is one of the “coolest” venues to frequent in the whole of Dublin.
This place has actually earned its good reputation, as not only does it show some excellent cinema...

Right In The Heart of Temple Bar
Review of Morgan Hotel, Dublin by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: Style, elegance, every possible convenience, central, and very reasonably priced.
Disadvantages: No dining room or bar. Room service only.
...~ ~ When you walk through the front door of the Morgan Hotel you would be hard put to tell that it is located in the very heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar quarter, where every visitor to the city seems to congregate to visit what has become over the last decade the entertainment and nightlife centre of the city.
~ ~ Located in Fleet Street, just a stone’s throw from the River Liffey, it would be very easy to walk straight past the front entrance to a hotel that is now considered one of the “in” spots in Dublin. In fact, the front entrance to the Morgan is so small and discreet that if you happen to blink as you walk past, you’d probably miss it.
~ ~ This is cosmopolitan living of the highest standard.
Each of the Morgan’s 61 en-suite bedrooms are individually furnished in ultra-modern fashion...

A great hotel in Dublin
Review of Quality Hotel Leisure Centre, Dublin by
gem686
Advantages: Cheap, great food, great leisure facilities,
Disadvantages: Located away from shops, bars and restaurants
...there from the hotel. It also attracts a lot of people from the building sites nearby (as this area is in development) as well as locals. So there are plenty of people to meet and it is definitely worth a drink on your way to Temple Bar. And have a vodka and red lemonade!
This is a great hotel, I guess the only thing that would put people off is the location if you can't or don't like walking. But as this area is being developed I am sure bars and restaurants will pop up down the river too. I would recommend it to everyone from business people, groups, families and couples. I will return to this hotel on my next visit to Dublin....

Best value hotel in Dublin
Review of Bewley´s Hotel Newlands Cross, Dublin by
kebabking
Advantages: Nice Price, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Out of town
...I am visiting Dublin again for the fifth time in November & was looking at Ciao reviews. I'm very surprised that this hotel hasn't been rated yet as it is a little treasure. I should say at this point that I went there in 2001 with a 6 month old child & they catered for him very well, so no problems on the family side of things.
The only thing that is a drawback about this hotel is that it is a little way out of town. However, there is a bus service right outside if you are on a budget & wish to sample the (dubious) delights of Temple Bar of an evening & the taxis are not that expensive either should you wish to get there in better style.
I've stayed here three times, twice on a tour of Ireland visiting family, once on a dedicated Dublin city break. On each occasion I have had nothing to put me off of the place.
Situated...

Great Dublin Hotel
Review of Blooms Hotel, Dublin by
killiefan
Advantages: Excellent Location, Nice Rooms
Disadvantages: Possibly Noisy
...I have now been to Dublin twice and both times i have stayed at Blooms Hotel as i was so impressed with it the first time. Blooms is a 3-star Hotel.
LOCATION
Firstly the location of Blooms is perfect for a nice weekend in Dublin. It is located in Angelsea Street which is in the Temple Bar area which means that within a few hundred yards you have a large selection of bars and restaurants which is perfect. Also within a ten minute walk is Grafton Street which is the main shopping area of Dublin.
STAFF
As soon as you enter the reception area of Blooms Hotel you are greeted by the friendly staff who are very nice and helpfull. They have either been very well trained or are naturally pleasant and willing to help. The staff will also give you a wake-up call in the morning if you require one, a service which we used to make sure...

The great Temple :oP
Review of The Temple Bar (Dublin) by
purple_twix
Advantages: Great fun
Disadvantages: None
..., its is Isaac’s hostel ha! Ha!
When we had unpacked we asked a lady where the best place to go was and she directed us to the Temple bar, we decided that was where we were going to go for our 1st night.
After getting reading and being really excited to be in Dublin we made our way to the Temple bar. We thought it was just 1 bar and it wasn’t…it was a whole street of bars, pubs and clubs. It was great! We went into most of them. There was so many I can’t even remember them, but the two I do remember are Jesters and Down under. I really don’t want to comment on the wrest of the holiday as it might get me into trouble ;) Best keep my secrets between me, Kerry and Dublin ;)
Just walking through the Temple bar was great. It was very friendly and it was full of people. There were a few people playing music for money and there were people...

Stay @ the West-in Dublin
Review of Westin Hotel, Dublin by
newty1977
Advantages: Luxurious and fantastic service
Disadvantages: Expensive
...The Westin Hotel Dublin

Dublin 2
Ireland

5 Star Hotel *****
Westin hotels are part of the larger Starwood hotel family, including brands such as Sheraton, Four Points, W Hotels, St Regis, and the recent acquisition of Le Meridien.
The Westin brand is always a blend of the modern, whilst allowing a certain amount of tradition, as is evident at The Westin in Dublin.
I have, for many years, been meaning to stay here on a jaunt to Dublin and finally did it in September 2005, which is when and where I experienced my first "black velvet" - Guinness and Champagne ... lovely jubbly as Derek Trotter would say!
Ideally located next to Trinity College in the centre of Dublin, the famous Grafton Street is a very short walk, as is the infamous Temple Bar...

Handy For Sunday Services (Or Temple Bar!)
Review of Jurys Inn Christchurch, Dublin by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: Very centrally located, good standard 3-star hotel with reasonable prices
Disadvantages: A bit noisy if you get a front facing room
...This Jury's Inn, one of three in Dublin city, is ideally located for accessing the city centre, as are all Jury's Dublin Inns) It's situated in Christchurch Place, about 5 minutes walk from the drinking dens of Temple Bar (heh, heh) and Grafton Street (the main shopping area) and College Green. (Trinity College and the Central Bank) Dublin Castle is about one minute's walk and the Guinness Hop Store, the single most visited tourist attraction in the city (by far!) is only about ten minutes brisk walk away.
It's also directly opposite Christchurch Cathedral, and just around the corner from St. Patrick's Cathedral. So you're ideally located whatever your preference; a night on the tiles, followed by a Sunday service the following morning to confess your sins of the night before. Mind you, both the city's main Cathedrals...

Grafton Capital Hotel, Dublin
Review of Grafton Capital Hotel, Dublin by
pick_2u4
Advantages: Central location
Disadvantages: Noisy at the front of hotel.
...of the hotel so there is plenty of choice.
The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Although the hotel was full it was fairly quite in our room apart from the noise from the nightclub. There is a kebab shop straight opposite the hotel which also means that noisy people are coming and going all night.
The Grafton is centrally located and is within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions such as Temple Bar which is on a cobble stone street. The Gaiety Theatre is only a couple of minutes walk away.
The cost of our stay for 3 adults which included breakfast for 3 nights was €570 .
I would stay at the Grafton again purely for the location to all the attractions but maybe ask for a room away from the front of the hotel....
