New Opinion - Temple Bar - The Never Ending Party
Review of Temple Bar, Dublin by  the_mad_cabbie

Advantages: The friendliest city in Europe
Disadvantages: Weather - lots of "liquid" sunshine

...contemporary art, and the Gallery of Photography, which is just what it says. There is also the Temple Bar Music Centre, which doubles as a rehearsal and recording studio, when it is not making an absolute fortune as a very popular bar and music venue. You have the Clarence Hotel, owned by the Irish rock band U2, and with its own famous night club at the rear called the “Kitchen”, which is a frequent haunt of not only the owners but also of a plethora of visiting stars, musicians, and both major and “wanabee” celebrities. And last, but by no means least, you have the extremely hip and trendy Irish Film Centre, which (for the moment at least) is one of the “coolest” venues to frequent in the whole of Dublin. This place has actually earned its good reputation, as not only does it show some excellent cinema... Read review

Temple Hotel, Matlock Bath
Review of Temple Hotel, Matlock Bath by  RClure

Advantages: lovely views with quality accommodation
Disadvantages: small ensuite, not the cheapest

.... This wasn't a problem and we were quoted £115 per room including breakfast for all of us. We knew this wasn't the best price but didn't try and negotiate as we were only staying one night whilst visiting friends in a nearby town. We were asked to give a £40 non-refundable deposit over the phone to confirm our booking. We were also pleased to discover that the hotel was now a completely no-smoking hotel. Within a few days we received a letter confirming our reservation. On arrival we found the hotel had not changed much. You enter via a narrow doorway and immediately the bar is through a doorway on your right and there is a hallway with the hotel's logo of a temple woven in to the carpet. We followed the stairs up half a flight to the reception desk (still with the unique carpet) where we were greeted by a very helpful member of staff... Read review

Right In The Heart of Temple Bar
Review of Morgan Hotel, Dublin by  the_mad_cabbie

Advantages: Style, elegance, every possible convenience, central, and very reasonably priced.
Disadvantages: No dining room or bar. Room service only.

...~ ~ When you walk through the front door of the Morgan Hotel you would be hard put to tell that it is located in the very heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar quarter, where every visitor to the city seems to congregate to visit what has become over the last decade the entertainment and nightlife centre of the city. ~ ~ Located in Fleet Street, just a stone’s throw from the River Liffey, it would be very easy to walk straight past the front entrance to a hotel that is now considered one of the “in” spots in Dublin. In fact, the front entrance to the Morgan is so small and discreet that if you happen to blink as you walk past, you’d probably miss it. ~ ~ This is cosmopolitan living of the highest standard. Each of the Morgan’s 61 en-suite bedrooms are individually furnished in ultra-modern fashion... Read review

D' old men and old women hotel!
Review of New Dolmen Hotel, Malta by  jo145

Advantages: Situated near the promenade overlooking St Paul's Bay and Islands
Disadvantages: Bedrooms not as luxurious as reception. More fresh fruit needed.

...at weekends during the winter. They also serve food and have "cool music" and a "laid back, jazzy atmosphere" - their words not mine, as we missed the opportunity to try it out as we wanted to hear the music in the Temple Bar when it was open. Neptune Pool and Wet Bar ************************************* Again only open during summer months, this was by the Neptune pool and by the Animation team base. Open during the summer from 10-5.30. Amazonia Lido ************************* Within the hotels "Private beach area", again only open in the summer months. The night club is open during the summer evenings and the al fresco bar open morning to night. Wedding At The Bentota Beach Hotel
Review of Bentota Beach Hotel by  pocahantis

Advantages: Beatiful location
Disadvantages: Mosquitoes

...WHY SRI LANKA YOU ASK? J & I had been to Sri Lanka for a holiday when we first started seeing each other. We had booked a last minute deal & stayed in a guest house . Whilst there we spent our days at the 5* Bentota Beach hotel using the pool & bar, for a small fee of £2 you can go to any hotel & use their facilities. This is a nice way of checking out the other hotels & generally being nosey. We fell in love with the place & decided then that if we went back we would stay at the hotel. One of the main things that had swung it for me was the resident elephant who was also part of the wedding ceremony. Sri Lanka or Ceylon as it was once known is an Island off the southern tip of India in the Indian Ocean .It is a ten & three quarter hour journey if flying direct. There are sometimes stopovers in the Maldives which is a wonderful place... One of the world's best hotels - in Delhi!
Review of Imperial Hotel, New Delhi by  koshkha

Advantages: A landmark hotel
Disadvantages: It's a long way from home

...-desk and luggage storage is on the right. The gym is down a corridor to the right. Comfy seating and newspapers are laid out in a sitting area ahead and to the right. There are very odd flower arrangements on pedestals in the centre of the reception area - a little too modern perhaps for the setting but intriguing none the less. Beside check in is the Chanel store - it's the only one in the whole of India so whilst I have no interest in over-priced clothing, I think its presence endorses The Imperial's status as the top hotel in the country. ** The Walk Through After check in we were 'walked' to our room by a lady from reception. As we went she explained all the places we passed on the way - the name of each restaurant or bar, what sort of food they served and so on. Most of the restaurants and bars lie off the same corridor so it's really easy... Read review

The great Temple :oP
Review of The Temple Bar (Dublin) by  purple_twix

Advantages: Great fun
Disadvantages: None

..., its is Isaac’s hostel ha! Ha! When we had unpacked we asked a lady where the best place to go was and she directed us to the Temple bar, we decided that was where we were going to go for our 1st night. After getting reading and being really excited to be in Dublin we made our way to the Temple bar. We thought it was just 1 bar and it wasn’t…it was a whole street of bars, pubs and clubs. It was great! We went into most of them. There was so many I can’t even remember them, but the two I do remember are Jesters and Down under. I really don’t want to comment on the wrest of the holiday as it might get me into trouble ;) Best keep my secrets between me, Kerry and Dublin ;) Just walking through the Temple bar was great. It was very friendly and it was full of people. There were a few people playing music for money and there were people... Read review

A great hotel in Dublin
Review of Quality Hotel Leisure Centre, Dublin by  gem686

Advantages: Cheap, great food, great leisure facilities,
Disadvantages: Located away from shops, bars and restaurants

...I stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions in 2007. My first visit was for St Patricks Day and we booked this hotel because it was cheap even though this would be their busiest weekend. We booked a triple room for 4 nights arriving on a Thursday and departing Monday. On our first visit we got the airport bus which costs 5 Euros. We got off the bus at O'Connell Street and then got a taxi as it was late at night to the hotel. The hotel is located on the south side of the river Liffey in the direction of the Sea. It is located near The Point so is a good location for attending concerts and events. It is approximately 15 minutes walk to O'Connell Street, the main shopping areas of Grafton Street and Henry Street and Temple Bar. It might seem like a long walk back after a night out in Temple Bar but the walk back helps sober you up... Read review

The Westin, best hotel to date!
Review of Westin Hotel, Dublin by  charlottemt

Advantages: Location, service, food, bars...the list goes on!
Disadvantages: It is expensive, but you get what you pay for.

...worse for being room service (which you can sometimes get with room service) and we were very pleased with the quality of food and service. Location The Location of The Westin is one of its many strong points, right in the centre opposite shops and very close to the main centre for shopping. Temple Bar is also surprisingly close so you are within easy reach of all the top restaurant and bars. The Staff The Porters were incredibly helpful, always greeting you, helping you find your way around, and it wasn’t only the guests they helped but the generally public would often come to them for direction and they treated everyone like a guest. I think that this is a very important part of working in a hotel as everyone is potential business! The Bar and Waiting Staff were always very prompt, helpful and very good... Read review
