Spa at home!

Advantages: Great smell
Disadvantages: None

...I first tried Temple Spa Peace Be Still in a hotel. I was staying at the Trafalgar in Piccadilly Circus (a five star hotel and part of the Hilton group), and this is the range that they have in the bathrooms. This cream can be used on both the face and body and is meant to calm and 'settle' the skin. It has a beautiful fresh smell - it contains essential oils (coriander, lemon and nutmeg- this may sound an odd mix, but the result is delicious) - and as such avoids the chemically smell of some body tonics, and the overly sweet smell of some of the fruit scented ones on the market. It sinks in really quickly, faster than any other body lotion I have used, but my skin felt smoother and softer straight way. I would say that if you like the feeling of having put on moisturiser and prefer a slight residue on the skin, this may not be...

Temple Church: A Curious Congregation of Knights and Lawyers

Advantages: Excellent original features. Beautiful interior restoration.
Disadvantages: Variable opening hours

...INTRODUCTION Ever since reading Sir Walter Scott?s ?Ivanhoe? as a pre-teen, I have been fascinated by knights, especially the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, or the Knights Templar as they are more colloquially known. Their white mantle with the blood red cross emblazoned on it inspired childhood daydreams of glorious battles, war horses and many a damsel saved from distress. Of course, in those days, I didn?t really know much about their past. That, and the fascination that arose from it, was down to a Medieval History course at university taught by a very passionate professor, who opened my eyes to the rich and chequered history of one of the most important and amazing military organisations the world has ever known. Then Dan Brown came along and popularised the Grail legend in ?The Da Vinci Code...

A Spa on a budget?

Advantages: bubbly, interestingly pampering scent, good body wash!
Disadvantages: may be slightly too aromatic for some, possibly too girly to appeal to men?

...I never actually bought this, I sort of acquired it! Some time ago, in Sainsbury's, my mum had decided she was fed up with the soap getting soggy in the shower soap holder and, since the Imperial Leather handwash was on offer, we somehow managed to end up with a buy-one-get-one-free on both types of product! (The other shower gel in question was the far more eye-catching bright icy blue Icelandic Spa one, but that was used up before I had chance to sample it.) So, for variety, we also went for the cream-ivory coloured Japanese Spa shower gel . . . and then my dad decided he couldn't get used to body wash instead of soap - he's not the kind of dad you'd buy toiletries for at the best of times! - and my mum isn't really a high-maintenance person in the bathroom either. Therefore, they finished the blue shower gel and the offer was open to...

A wonderful and relaxing spa with plenty of choice.

Advantages: Not as expensive as other spa's and they're nicely decorated.
Disadvantages: Why can't I afford to come here every day?!

... What is Aqua Sana? Aqua Sana is a chain of spa's, there are 4 Aqua Sana spa's in England and each of them are situated at a different Center Parcs. You can visit the spa whilst on holiday at Center Parcs, or you can just visit the Aqua Sana spa for the day, or an overnight stay. Full details on the soa's and prices are available at www.aquasana.co.uk Each Aqua Sana spa has 14 spa experiences boasting the widest selection in the UK, and of course there are the usual selection of treatments to choose from haircuts and pedicures to massage's and facials. I personally prefer to go for a spa day without any of the treatments as the spa itself is a very relaxing place and not too badly priced considering the prices of some the spa's in the UK! Inside the Spa I have been to the Aqua Sana spa at Whinfell Forest...

The temple dedicated to the God Horus.

Advantages: A beautifully preserved temple.
Disadvantages: Can get very hot and very crowded with tourists.

...Temple of Edfu. The great temple of Edfu is situated on the West bank of the Nile River in Egypt. It was built on top of an even more ancient temple between the years 237BC and 57 BC during the time of the Ptolemaic Dynasty and the reign of Cleopatra. Edfu was an ancient city of about 60,000 people and it was believed that it may have been a major site for people setting out on their journeys into the desserts. It is the best preserved temple in Eygpt built of sandstone and it is quite large. It is the second largest and best preserved temple in Egypt. The story of Horus the Falcon God, It is dedicated to the God Horus. Horus was considered a Falcon God of the Sky he was also considered as other Gods too and there is some confusion of who he was as different names were used to describe the same person. Horus represented life...

Whip around the temple of Peril!

Advantages: Fun and one of the only two coasters in this park
Disadvantages: Queues can get long in peak seasons

...When myself and my hubby went to Disneyland Paris there were various attractions that we loved - I have already written a review on the Aerosmith rollercoaster that we loved and a close second is the Indiana Jones and the temple of Peril rollercoaster. This is high speed coaster with loops and drops and is suitable for those who like fast rides. Which park is it in? This coaster is located in the main Disneyland Park and is in the Adventure land section of the park. Adventure land is at the back of the park on the left hand side and so it is one of the attractions that is furthest from the entrance gates of the park! What kind of ride is it? The ride is of course a roller coaster if you hadn?t already guessed that from the title of the ride! However it is on a much smaller scale than what the Aerosmith coaster is...

Temple of Karnak-among the best sites in Egypt

Advantages: Intricately detailed temple
Disadvantages: Crowds of tourists

...with another two backpackers and settled down into a hostel. The two boys obviously hadn't had my traumatic experience coming down on the train, having gone first class and were all psyched up to go and see some temple or other. I waved them off saying I was knackered and would catch up with them later and we could head to Valley of the Kings tomorrow together and went to lie down in our room. At this point I realised why all the touts at the railway station had been shouting about air-conditioning which we did not have. I am no stranger to heat and have been in many tropical countries and everyone has always said that the humid heat is the worst yet I have never experienced the intensity of that dry heat in Luxor and other places along the edges of the Sahara. After 15 minutes I gave up, grabbed a guidebook to see that the boys had marked they...

Champneys Spa Day

Advantages: wonderful massage and facial
Disadvantages: intituional feel, poor general facilities.

...My husband and I went for the spa day which included a thalassotherapy session, a massage and a facial at Champneys Springs in Leics. I was not impressed by the building and the internal environment - long corridors with lots of people wondering around in write robes gave it an institional feel and the buildings were ugly and sprawling. The massage and facial we both agreed were wonderful and personalised and thalassotherapy pool was pleasant enough though I wouldn't pay for it separately. The shower rooms toilets had a mildewy smell. The gym was small and steamy. The coffee was awful and all other drinks (not tap water) had to be paid for. Lunch was buffet of salad though a freshly cooked wrap was offered - basic (Compare this to the wonderful 3 course lunches at Eden Hall). I thought it had little to offer if you didn't have any...

Review of Champneys Health Spa

My hands just experienced a Japanese Spa . . .

Advantages: indulgent alternative to everyday soap, appealing fragrance
Disadvantages: slightly drying on the hands - could be too much for sensitive skin

...say it looked more feminine than masculine. Topped with the red ribbon Imperial Leather logo, the words "Japanese Spa" are printed entirely in lower case plum-purple letters and underneath a cropped, graphic-looking floral shape in pink and pale green is finished off with simple flower shapes and a figure that looks like it is from the Japanese alphabet, so again there is quite a pronounced feeling of "delicacy". As each bottle holds 300ml I think it has lasted fairly well considering it must be getting used about four times a day. I'm not sure what I'd expect a spa in Japan to smell like but I certainly think the highlight on the front of the bottle telling me that it contains green tea, rice milk and jasmine plants the suggestion of an oriental atmosphere in the mind. Having just washed my hands I am now sitting here smelling them (yes...
