...We went to Puerto de Santiago/Los Gigantes, which is northwest of the two most ?popular? resorts, Playa de las Americas & Los Cristianos - muchos Ingleses! These two, in my view, are awful, and visitors going there for the first time expecting something with a foreign feel will be disappointed by the usual rash of "See Leeds v Barcelona live tonite on Sky" cafes and bars. What they do have is beaches. It?s not just us either. The Germans are catered for in a similar way. I suppose Tenerife is like the best and the worst of southern Spain in that respect. Los Christianos does have one saving grace - it?s the ferry port to La Gomera, one of the other islands, which makes for a fascinating day out in itself. Advantages: Quiet and relaxing
Disadvantages: Dingy room and pool area dominated by timeshare owners

...My boyfriend and I visited this hotel last summer, having gotten a bargain price through Travel Republic. I think we paid around £150 for the room for the week, which was a good price for a four star hotel in Costa Adeje, one of Tenerife's more family and couple based upmarket resorts. When we arrived it all looked fairly posistive - the reception area was clean and spacious if a little dated and the welcome we received was nice if a little brusque. This became clearly the way staff talked to guests - they bordered on rude at times in spite of our efforts to speak Spanish to them because of their limited English. Advantages: Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants near by.
Disadvantages: Can be a little noisy if you are near the Varonicas centre.

Hotel Noelia Sur, Tenerife

Advantages: Quality, Family Friendly Hotel
Disadvantages: Non really, just needs to sort out the sunbed situation

...I have just got back from Tenerife and staying at the Hotel Noelia Sur. My family go to Tenerife every year and this is the second time we have stayed at the Noelia. It has always been known as a quality hotel, but like many hotels it has its blips. Our flight was with Monarch airlines and to be honest it did leave certain things to be desired. I was told to expect to pay £10.00 for the inflight meals, which basicaly are crap, but Monarch tried to hit us with a £15.00 bill for them.As there were 7 in my party, this would have been an extra £105.00. I honestly do not think there is a need for such a price, as this would bring in more than £5000 revenue for the company, just for the inflight meals. They already charge a price of £3.00 for a 330 ml can of beer that costs 60p in an off license. On top of this there is a hire charge of £1...

Tenerife - not on my short list

Advantages: Cheap car hire and petrol
Disadvantages: Unpredictable weather, expensive food, lots of time-share touts

...the local red-light district, and a mecca for prostitutes throughout the night. The hotel has been on 'Holidays from Hell' twice and I have also seen some very bad write-ups about it. The area of the resort we stayed in was compact, with a wide abundance of food restaurants of unfortunately, not brilliant quality and generally overpriced. At breakfast time, we saw food advertised at around £1.95 a head, trouble is the drinks prices were not publicised and we ended up paying around £5 each for an orange juice. We ended up eating in the pizza hut/kentucky fried chicken cafe. I had heard that Tenerife was the island of warm weather all year around, whilst we were there we had a few sandstorms, rain, a hurricane, and could not visit half the places we wanted to, as they were out of bounds and had been sealed off by the police for safety...

GO TO TENERIFE

...Tenerife, situated in the Canary Islands, near Ibiza and in the Mediterranean. Paradise! But Tenerife hardly displays the tacky, sex driven ambience of Ibiza. Some areas of Tenerife (Las Americas)are geered towards the British Tourist with pubs, clubs, strip joints and every restaurant serving ham and chips! I am not saying that this is bad. If you want to go on holiday and then end up at home again but with a sunburn then go to Las Americas.If you want to interact with the Spanish Culture, learn a bit about about the Spanish way of Life and maybe change your philosophy on Life then steer clear of Las Americas. Tenerife is only a 3 hour flight from Luton and can cost from £38 depending which airline you take. ...Hotel Sol Princesa Dacil *** Los Cristianos Tenerife Just returned from a week?s stay at the hotel and can happily say that this was an excellent holiday, I flew over with my friend from Manchester with Thomas Cook, a flight which took about 4 hrs 20 mins and then only a short transfer from the airport to the hotel of about 20 minutes. I could not fault the holiday and although this is only a 3 star hotel in my opinion it should be upgraded, I have stayed in 3,4,5 star hotels and this more than met my standards. As I said it was only a short transfer and we arrived at the hotel about 15:30 and were immediately checked-in, the receptionist informed me we had been upgraded to a superior room free of charge. The Superior rooms are by far the best and are worth paying for; they are situated on the top three floors of the hotel...

...Just want to give as much info in a total package about Tenerife. I have done the Portugal, Spain Mainland, Yugoslavia, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Gran Canaria, Lanzarotte thing, but to be honest have settled every year for Tenerife. I have three kids and it basicaly suits without forking out money on trying a different experience. There are plenty of flights available to the island leaving mainly Fridays and have never suffered any issues getting there. The Reina Sophia Airport is around a 30 minuite drive from Los Americas where you will witness some of the finest Hotels imaginable. Yes.......and that is exactly what i said, some of the 5* hotels take some beating. Usually, i opt to stay at one of the 4* hotels such as The Conquistador or Noelia Sur where i have stayed on numerous occasions and every time been a winner. The problem...

Advantages: great pool area and good entertainment
Disadvantages: on a slight hill not good for people with walking difficulties

...this is by far one of the best hotels i have stayed in in tenerife, it was so good i have been three times this year, all inclusive is the best way to go with this hotel as it has so much to offer in the range of food, we have stayed all inclusive three times now and never get bored of the variety of food on offer. hotel has three swimming pools which at most times of the year are absaloutley freezing, for a couple of months between october and january one of the pools is heated but is usually filled to the brim with children. Hotel has fantastic entertainment every night for children and adults at least two shows every night and a childrens club to keep them entertained most of the day, other activities such as water polo bingo archery and riffle shooting take place around the pool during the day to keep everyone entertained. if...
