...I have only been to Tenerife once for three weeks and thought i'd share my experience of the island with you all. Also the review of the place where our apartment is, in Costa del Silencio is not very good! So this is to clear a few things up. The apartment is on Amiralla Bay with great views over the ocean and right on the sea front. Unfortunately Tenerife as a whole is very rocky and so there is no beach. There is however a place to get into the sea via a ladder or just jump in (without breaking a leg!). There are always a lot of people down there and the locals are down there after 6pm most days. If they are not in the sea do not go in as i learned, it didn't look too rough but it was. I am a good swimmer but those who aren't that confident would have struggled and didn't see any lifeboats whilst over there so wouldn't like... Read review

Advantages: Clean and spacious apartments.
Disadvantages: Too noisy and packed around the hotel area especially around the pool.

...Compostela Beach Resort was situated in between Playa d'las Americas and Los Cristianos, which is an area that is packed with plenty of places to eat and drink. We stayed here for two weeks self catering in a two bedroom apartment. The apartment was brilliant, it was very spacious and clean. Food was good and well presented in the restaurant. The kids really loved it as there are loads of children of all ages everywhere in the hotel, but I thought it was too packed around the swimming pool area. The hotel couldn't cater for so many people and to be honest it was rather noisy all day long around the pool, so we did tend to go to the beach where it was more peaceful, which is a ten minute walk from the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again, although my two boys liked the company of other children, but I just thought it was too loud... Read review

Advantages: Huge, quality apartments with good pools
Disadvantages: Remote(?), building work, bad restaurant

.... Worst thing about Mandi was the restaurant -the worst in Tenerife I reckon. Sad, given the captive nature of the guests. We found that even the smallest restaurant in town was better quality. We ate at one lovely place which was in a sort of wooden shed, with a kitchen smaller than mine at home and the food and service were beautiful. There was building going on across the golf course which could be a little noisy but not bad. The windows are all double glazed in the apartments. Oh we did get woken at 5:30 one morning by the pratt greenkeepers on the golf course racing their buggies and leaving them with headlights on and engines running outside our window, but it was only once. So the biggest thing to watch out for is the development of the acres of prepared ground around the front of the complex.... Read review
