I was staying in a bed & breakfast and I turned on the television to watch “Top of the Pops” when this guy came on with a long scarf and feathered hair. Advantages: very strong yet light with good feel

...I always considered 3lb TC carp rods to be too heavy duty for 'normal' carp fishing situations. Sure they could bang out a large method feeder 90 odd yards but surely the feeling would be lost when playing the fish? I originally stumbled across a pair of the Fox Extreme rods whilst looking for a pair of rods for an up and coming trip to France. I went to a local dealer to ask for something heavy duty that wasn't a fortune. The intention was to use these rods purely for my trips abroad and nothing else. I was showed the Extremes and was instantly amazed at how slim and light they were. They also felt very well balanced. In addition they were a nice matt grey finish and looked quite stylish - I thought how good they would look on my pod. ...M.A.P was started a few years ago now. I am yet to see a bad product from the company (Midland Angling Products). It consists of joint efforts from Leeda, FOSTERS fishing shop in Birmingham, and well known match ace - Dave Harrell, their chief tester). The range is now qite huge, and I bought this rod actually not knowing much about it. I went for it beacuse of the good reputation the make has, and also it's classification as an allround match rod. I didn't want anything too light because I often catch a lot of carp on my travels (in fact, most of the waters down here in Cornwall, hold them as the predominent species), mostly upto about 8lbs. ...It's hard for non-babyboomers to believe that Rod Stewart was a cutting-edge R&B troubadour in his time. He was though, and it wasn't until the early eighties that he really became a conversational embarrassment. What happened to the poor sod? LA basically, and too long a separation from Ronnie Wood. Jagger has Keith to keep him on the 'Bent & Wide', Rod has Ron. Both have Ron actually but that's another story. So it was, that after a particularly liquid lunch in Oporto, I found myself in a multi-media store. I saw this CD. I thought 5 euros (3 quid) can't be bad, added to which I saw Ron Wood on the cover. I did, of course, wonder why in the hell I'd bought it on the Sunday morning, but it turned out to be not such a bad buy. I've done much worse after a liquid lunch! ...Holding this rod in your hand you could really think you were holding a rod worth well over £200, and when you find it is less than £100 you realise what a great value bit of kit this really is. A super slim blank makes the rod look great and understated markings really make it feel like a custom built rod. I use the 3lb tc model and it really is a superb all rounder, the rod really can cast, hitting 100 yards with ease and going well over that mark when needed. Also it can play a fish, it is not too stiff so you suffer hook pulls. It is finished to a very high quality, with full fuji rings, with a well proportioned 40mm butt ring, couple this with a FUJI DNPS reel seat, you can tell it is a quality piece of kit, worth well over its price tag. ...Many of you know that Darren Hayes is the former front man of Savage Garden who had success worldwide. Darren hit the music world with Spin - his brilliant debut solo album which made number 2 in the UK charts. Now pretty much two years later Darren is back with a brand new record - The Tension and The Spark. However it must be noted that The Tension and The Spark is a totally different record to Spin. Where Spin was perfect pop - sometimes with a rocky edge and a few awesome ballads thrown in, Darren's second album is very electronic and dark. But this doesn't mean that it is any less good! The album is lyrically breathtaking and it can almost be guaranteed that there is at least one track on the album that everyone can relate to, be it feeling insecure or noting how the law of the land seems to be the one you love always loves... The golden rod is a perennial plant that flowers in the late summer through the autumn. This plant is fairly easy to care for in the garden it likes a well drained soil. ...Ladies and gentlemen, please put aside your prejudices before reading this opinion. In the seventies, Rod Stewart was a superb r&b singer who collaborated with some greats and wrote great melodies and lyrics ('You Wear it Well', 'Maggie May', 'Mandolin Wind' to name but three)and sang them with pure, raw emotion. In the eighties, he was an embarrassment to us all, dabbling in disco and electro-pop and dressing like a complete idiot, not to mention those fright wigs (at least I hope they were wigs). He lost all credibility, and his farcical personal life only added to the whole kitsch carnival. Now, however, he's back at his absolute best. His new album, 'Human', is smooth, contemporary and emotional, combining sublime melodies with a sincere, deeply moving voice that appears to have suffered no ill effects from his recent... Advantages: Hilariously stupid, no sex, fun for all the family

...I've just been to see my brother who's just got back in the country the other day having been out to Dubai on business.  We said the usual 'hellos' and what-not but then he asks me if I've seen a film called 'Hot Rod'.  Apparently he watched it on the plane back to the UK, thought it was fantastic and asked if I wanted to watch it now.  You've got to bear in mind that by watching the film we would have missed the football on TV so the film must have been a cut above the rest! It was.  The story is the usual american mr. nobody comes good formula but where this differs is that whenever it appears that it is going to get disgustingly saccharin it side-swipes you and makes you laugh your pants off.  When you realise that it was written by Pam Brady (who?
