Skegness Water Leisure Park (Tents and Caravans)
Review of Skegness Water Leisure Park by
jonluvsnique
Advantages: Lovely surroundings, excellent on-site facilities, polite and friendly staff
Disadvantages: A fair walk to Fantasy Island, silly push button showers, some uneven ground for tents
...Well, it was mid-september, and we decided we needed a break, so being first time campers (I'd been camping when I was younger, with my parents and brother and sisters, but that was nearly 25 years ago, and now I had my own family), and having got all the camping gear, (frame tent, cooking stove, air beds, sleeping bags, etc), we decided to go camping in Ingoldmells in Skegness, (or Skeggy to most of us in Yorkshire!)
We searched the Internet for a place to stay, and came across a few sites, including The Skegness Leisure Water Park, which looked pretty good and reasonably priced.
We set off from Sheffield around 3pm, after having loaded the car up, (6 birth family frame tent with all poles, inner sleeping compartment and seperate ground sheet, cooking equipment, pots, pans, table, air bed, sleeping bags, suitcase, baby's travel cot...

Eurocamp holidays - where the fun is 'in tents'
Review of Eurocamp family holidays by
philippephiloppe
Advantages: Excellent value; well appointed sites; flexible choices;great service
Disadvantages: some sites are less scenic than others; pricing looks complicated at first
...We first went Euro-camping about 15 years ago when I our children were 5 and 1 (blimey how they've grown). Basically we were skint but wanted a holiday abroad, and Eurocamp seemed to fit the bill.
We were so impressed that we have been at least every other year since - although we have now progressed to mobile homes rather than tents. So how does it work?
Booking
This is dead easy, although when you first look in the brochure it might seem a bit daunting. Basically you get a price for a basic holiday and then you add amounts for days, increased spec of accomodation, travel routes etc and that gives you a pretty good idea of your price - then you call them (I prefer to call rather than do things on line because you can ask questions then). I've always found the staff to be very knowledgeable and friendly. You tell them where youd...

Three Girls...and a Tent....
Review of Isles of Scilly (England) by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Beautiful, relaxing, largely unspoiled, friendly
Disadvantages: The boat trip...!
...Three Girls and a Tent….was to be the theme for my most recent holiday. When my elder sister rang me back in February this year and asked if I fancied a camping holiday, I thought about it for an hour and decided that this would be a fantastic opportunity for a very different holiday and so despite the fact we hadn't camped since the Girl Guide trip some 28 years previously, our five day trip was duly booked!
I had seen the Isles of Scilly on TV shows, including Coast, and read about the Islands in the Sunday newspapers, and I was delighted that I had the opportunity to visit the place for myself.
Fast forward to the night prior and I drove down to my Sister's house in Truro ready for the boat trip the following morning. By this time, her 16 year old daughter decided to have a teen strop, the bottom line being the lack...

Butlins: how many chavs can you fit in a tent?
Review of Butlins by
kellie_louise
Advantages: Great for children or chavs
Disadvantages: Bad food, accomodation, prices
...portion and my husband had lasagne which tasted like tomato puree and flour mixed together. This was the final straw and after only just over 24 hours, we decided to leave. I dont think we could put up with another 3 days being stuck in a tent full of chavs, shouting and swearing at their kids, eating chips, sleeping on plastic and paying over the top prices for drinks.
When we went to check out, we were offered to be moved, but to the same type of accomodation which was pointless and all complaints have to be in writing to head office and butlins cannot guarentee you will get a reply.
So, the accomodation is terrible, the staff are miserable, the prices are unbelievable, the food is disgraceful and the other guests are mainly disgusting (like their language).
Conclusion: A childrens heaven, but a adults nightmare....

O'zapft is!
Review of Oktoberfest, Munich by
SarahJennifer
Advantages: too many to mention here!
Disadvantages: often overcrowded, but if you know how to escape it it's not that bad
...As I live in Munich, I know all aspects of the Oktoberfest…but I might as well be a bit biased :o)
The Oktoberfest is the world's biggest fair and is vernacularly called Wiesn. It takes place on the Theresienwiese near Munich's city centre every year in the two last weeks of September and the first October week, so this year it will take place from September 20th until October 5th 2008.
To date the Oktoberfest has been divided into two main streets: one for the fun rides and the other one for the beer tents. This year, however, the town Munich decided to add another street in the hope of straightening out the crowds a bit.
There are many great attractions that draw in approximately 6 million people from all over the world every single year:
Fun rides
There are about 200 carnie businesses at the Oktoberfest, more than...

Kilimanjaro hike in September 2003
Review of Mt Kilimanjaro National Park (Tanzania) by
gard
Advantages: Great views, satisfying to achive a goal like this
Disadvantages: Altitude sickness, expensive, a bit harder than expected
...and smaller and at about 5 pm we reached the Machame camp at about 3000 meters and we saw one of the characteristic green huts that we would see in many of the camps to come. It was kind of weird for me to realize that I had already set a personal record…I had never been at a higher altitude. Once again we had to sign into a big book and after this we went over to our tents. Our porters had of course reached the campsite hours ahead of us and our sleeping tents and out mess tent were already erected.
After a quick cup of tea and a quick wash we headed for the mess tent to get some hot drinks. I thought that we would have to live on tea the entire trip. But it turned out that we would get served both tea and hot water. And from the hot water we could make coffee, Milo or hot chocolate. And dinner didn’t turn out to be bad either. We got chicken...

Review of Bunchrew caravan and camping park by
jacpuss
Advantages: A GOOD BUDGET FRIENDLY,FAMILY PARK
Disadvantages: NOT FOR THOSE WHO WANT ENTERTAINMENT
...of this place before, and after trailing through their web site, had finaly discovered exactly what i was looking for and at a reasonable price. So off i went to phone the site and booked a six berth caravan for a week in July this year.
I only booked a week because, having never been there,i didn't know what to expect and if it turned out that it was not a nice place, then at least i wasn't commited to spending another week there.I however had no need to worry as it was realy very good.

Oktoberfest
Review of Oktoberfest, Munich by
JVL
Advantages: Beer, beer, beer
Disadvantages: Very crowded, not cheap
...Oans, zwoa, drei, Gsuffa (one, two, three, drink)! Every year it’s the same procedure: I don’t plan to go to the Oktoberfest, and come up with all sorts of excuses and reasons for not heading down to Munich – the train journey, the cost, the fact that it is almost impossible to get a seat inside a tent after 11am. And then I get a phone call from a couple of mates in England who tell me that they are booking a cheap flight to Frankfurt, and that I really ought to get cracking and organise a trip to the Oktoberfest. Yes, I really am that weak-willed! Despite all my protestations, I have been to the world’s biggest beer festival for the last three years, and I have to say that it has been thoroughly enjoyable every time.
So how did it all start? Well, the original Oktoberfest was a celebration of the marriage...

THE BULLDOG BASH 2007 (+ link to Drag-Strip vid's)
Review of Bulldog Bash by
The-ex-Raven
Advantages: Lots to do....weather was HOT !!!
Disadvantages: ?
...a ticket it's the most expensive rally we went to last year (gave the Rock 'n' Blues a miss) but that said it was worth every last penny. All bike events have rules and I guess they're worth a mention such as " BAR-B-Q'S ALLOWED BUT STRICTLY NO FIRES AND NO DOGS (EITHER ALIVE OR COOKED) " But on a more serious note kids are welcome and 14 and under get in free accompanied by an adult. Parking of course is free for bikes and trikes and if you want to bring your 4 wheels is £10 to park your car up for the weekend in a patrolled space. An extra £50 if you want to spend the weekend in luxury and take your camper or caravan. We as ever loaded up the bikes with tents and all the necessary weekend essentials
We bagged a spot close to a tap and within easy walk of the floodlit concrete bit with many many toilets, close enough to nip to but far enough...
