Working for Tesco
Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers
...Ok, first of all, I'd just like to mention, this is a looooooooooooong review, so if you're not actually interested in reading about Tesco as an employer, then I'd suggest you don't bother as it will take some patience to get through!
When I left school at the age of 18, and having decided I couldn't be bothered with university, I suddenly had to face the big bad world and go and find myself a job. I wasn't really fussy about what job I did - I've never been ambitious, and simply wanted a job where I could go to work, do my job, come home and not have to think about it.
As our local Tesco is just 5 minutes away, I decided to apply there. I wrote a letter requesting an application form, and a few days later received a lovely letter and the form I had asked for. I read through the form and thought, wow, I don't know how to answer...

Tescos
Advantages: Great Value
Disadvantages: Puts local businesses under stress
...Tescos is King of all supermarkets and I think that they are best for value in the long term or in the big shop as well. As a student I have found that the tesco down the road from me is my new home, as opposed to the Centre up the road that can be so expensive some times in comparison.
Tescos sells your average grocerys as well as dvd's and electricals, clothes, office supplies, tobacco and confectionary, alcohol, cards for special occassions and toys. Everything you need seems to almost be in one store, there is also a tesco value line that provides Tescos own products at a cheaper price.
The staff in Tescos are always friendly where I come from in Cookstown, they always help you find something if your not quite sure where it is and always strike up a pleasant conversation at the help desk, though I understand that some...

Tesco supermarket
Advantages: A wide variety of well priced goods
Disadvantages: Toilets maybe need cleaning a little more often
...Tesco plc over the years has become a household name.
A gentleman by the name of Jack Cohen who hailed from East London founded the company in 1919.
The Tesco brand first appeared in 1924,when Jack Cohen bought a shipment of tea from T.E.Stockwell..he combined the first three letters of the name (TES) along with the first tow letters of his own surname (CO ) and formed the word `Tesco`.
Tesco started life as a retailer of food and drink, but recent years have seen Tesco diversify into other areas such as clothing, consumer electronics, financial services,CD`s ,music downloads,Internet service, telecoms, health insurance, dental plans, software and DVD`s.
In 2008 Tesco became the World`s fourth largest retailer, with profits exceeding 2 billion pounds.
The Tesco company employ over 273,000 people.

TESCO
Advantages: Friendlly people, easy job
Disadvantages: pay,staff benefits
...Having worked for Tesco at some point I have an employee and also a customer's perspective.
I was employed when I was 16; it started off as part time work because I was at college. This suited me because my hours were convenient, the pay was good - above the minimum wage, overtime was available at the drop of a hat and it was a really easy job.
For a young person the training was a breeze - everything was easy to pick up and the local store where I worked had friendly older women to guide me through all the millions of questions I asked. (Best way to learn - asking all the questions under the sun)
I was initially trained on checkouts - the system was old but manageable and the main focus was being polite to your customer, offering to pack their bags, building rapport and of course SMILING.
TESCO do monthly checks on you...

TESCO - Awesome Giant!
Advantages: Clubcard, Great Value, Large Stores some 24hr, Convenient, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Company too Big, Taking over, putting small shops out of business
...>------------------------------<
TESCO STORES PLC
>------------------------------<
>---------------<
Introduction
>---------------<
Tesco is one of the worlds largest companies, with supermarkets ranging the world over and products now far in excess of food and drink. To some, Tesco is a company that is too big for its boots, too powerful, and too manipulative over local areas. To an extent I am inclined to agree with them. Small shops which have been trading for decades, overhauled by the introduction of a large Tesco to the area. However, I am a huge fan of Tesco not just because I have a large 24hr Tesco at the end of my road but also I am in favour of the huge range of products and services that Tesco provide and the jobs that it brings to the local area. Clearly this review has the potential to go on forever, but please...

Tesco
Advantages: Good range, airy, knowledgable staff
Disadvantages: Traffic can be a nightmare
...Throughout Northern Ireland, Tesco seem to have embarked on a major expansion project. In my local area, 2 new stores have recently been open, Antrim & Ballymoney, replacing the old, falling apart stores that once resided in those towns.
Tesco is a relatively recent import to Northern Ireland, having bought over the Stewarts & Crazy Prices group of stores. Some old stores were closed, others revamped, and in some areas completely new stores were built such as the flagship stores in Knocknagoney, East Belfast and Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.
My closest Tesco store is the new Ballymoney store, so this is the one I have chosen to review.
It opened last weekend, after much publicity, both good and bad. It was feared that the building of the supermarket on that site would cause problems for the town, as it is built on what used to be...

Every Little Helps with Tesco's Clubcard
Advantages: Easy and fast to accumulate points and money off!!!
Disadvantages: The way you spend points should be revised maybe so that you can get "change"!
...Tesco Clubcard
About
Clubcard was launched in 1995 and since then has just got more and more popular dragging customers into Tesco?s shops around the country. Resulting in Tesco becoming one of the most popular Supermarkets in Britain.
If you don?t have a Tesco?s Clubcard the way it works very simply is that as you spend in Tesco (whether it be on food, petrol, insurance), you earn points on your Clubcard, every £1 = 1point, ever 100 points = £1 to spend in store. And although it sounds like you need to spend hundreds of pound in Tesco to get anything back, with the double points in store, plus when buying £80 of petrol from there every month, it very soon accumulates, and we usually get around £7 to spend in store every couple of months!
Clubcard has grown in huge amounts over the last few years, with the introduction...

Tesco suits a student shop!
Advantages: Competitive prices, great range in relation to store sizes, good opening times, variety of services
Disadvantages: Can be busy, metro stores have limited size and range, disadvantages of another powerful monopoly
...I am an employee at Tesco and have inevitably ended up shopping at every type of Tesco store you can get - Extra, Standard size, Express and Metro. Since I shop there so often I thought I should give my perspective on why I buy there so much that goes beyond my discount card. I promise to make it as free from as much employee bias as possible. I'm only a checkout girl so making honest observations of this giant corporation should be no problem.
*~Product Choice and Quality~*
The product choice within a store really depends upon what type of store that you shop at. The Extra stores are absolutely massive and in turn provide a huge range of products. So big are these stores you can even call them supermarkets - these are hypermarkets. You are pretty much guaranteed to find almost any food or drink item (within reason) which you...

Tesco Team
Advantages: Hours to Suit
Disadvantages: Low pay to start off with
...I joined Tescos about 9 months ago.
I applied to Tescos because being a mum of two,I needed a flexible job, where i didnt need to pay for childcare.
I dint look into the pay or anything, being a big company i Knew the pay couldn't be that bad!
After applying i was interviewed within days(it was the lead up to christmas) and i began my employment within a week.
When applying for Tescos you have to state your preferred hours, this is looked at when you have you r interview and they try and slot into your preferred hours,Our Tescos is a 24 hour store,so there is plenty of night work (which is what i was looking for).
Tescos supply you with a uniform, which is comfortable to wear and isnt at all dowdy.
Depending on the area you work in you are also supplied with the correct equipment to do your job safer,ie safety shoes for the deli...

Tesco Home Delivery Service
Advantages: Very reliable service
Disadvantages: Short shelf life items need us by dates checked
...Background:
High Wycombe delivery.
I have for the past two years taken advantage of the Tesco home delivery service. For the simple reason I hate going to the supermarket. I always seem to get stressed out by out of control kids or people with massive long lists not looking where they are going. As a result I got more bruises than I did when I played football.
What I do now is place an order once a month online and top it up with fruit and vegetables in between direct from the store.
The Home Delivery service is an excellent idea for those who struggle to get to the shops for example the elderly, my mum swears by it. It is also really handy for those heavier items; it can be hard work lugging all your bags of shopping around. And also for lazy people like me who just hate shopping.
So I like to do it from the comfort of my...
