CHIP Off the old Cake bars
Review of Tesco Chocolate Chip Cake Bars by
HotBlonde
Advantages: Low sat fat, moist and full flavour
Disadvantages: none
...Tesco Chocolate Chip Cake Bars (30g)
I thought I would write a review on this product as I thought they were very appetising and good for value cake. Ok this product has around 125 calories per cake but compared to a double chocolate muffin which is around 300 calories - shocking eh, and slightly better than a chocolate HobNob Flapjack at 159 Calories. With all this in mind I don't feel guilty munching away on one of these bars - on Weight Watchers these cakes are around 2 points.
***** The Product *****
This product is made in France for TESCO Stores Ltd and are sold globally in all there stores. They are packaged in a dark red box which measures 9 inches long x 5 inches wide, with the TESCO logo in bold White writing on the top right hand corner. There is also a picture of the cake bars on the front and the daily guidelines...

Carrot CAKE???
Review of Tesco Healthy Living Carrot & Orange Cake Slices by
carminator
Advantages: Low in fat, taste great!
Disadvantages: Not good for nut, gluten or wheat allergies
...I’ll have to admit when I first saw these little gems on the aisle I did do a Peter Kay impression. “Carrot Cake” I said to myself (like Peter Kay says Garlic Bread or Cheese Cake), “Carrot in cake, you’ve got to be joking!” But they weren’t joking this cake actually contains carrots; you know those orange vegetables that help you to see in the dark. So, for a laugh I decide to put them into my trolley and have a go at these carrot cakes.
Packaging
The Tesco healthy living range has distinct packaging, the majority of products come in a light blue packaging with a splodge of red (that is meant to be a person stretching or dancing or looking healthy- that person looks in a bad way never mind healthy one side of their body is longer than the other, not the best way to sell a healthy living product to me I can tell thee)
Anyway...

Hands Off My Jaffa Cakes!
Review of Tesco 36 Jaffa Cakes by
DebzJ
Advantages: Taste nice
Disadvantages: Bit dry
...During the usual nose in the Tesco bags after my mum comes back from shopping, I discovered a box with 36 jaffa cakes in. Although at first I wondered why the Tescos brand instead of McVities, I soon forgot this and ripped open the packet to indulge in the orangey-chocolatey cakes. More on that later.
PACKAGING
**************
The jaffa cakes are stacked 12 to a clear cellophane wrap rather like biscuits. There are 3 stacks in the box, which is bright orange and very eye catching. The front features a picture of 4 cakes on the front, chocolate side up and another one is cut in half to show the sponge and orange centre. In bold white it says "36 Jaffa cakes" and underneath "Tangy orange centre with real fruit juice." It is obvious they are made by Tesco with it saying Tesco in paler orange at the top.
The back of the box is given...

Carrot Cake But Not Very Healthy
Review of Tesco Healthy Living Carrot & Orange Cake Slices by
faders321
Advantages: Tasty and cheap
Disadvantages: Not any healthier than other brands
...Tesco Light Choices Carrot & Orange Cake Slices. I often but things from the Light Choices range in Tesco, I tend to find that they are not at all lighter than the normal varieties, especially their ready meals which are full of salt. However I do buy the products because I really like their taste.
These cake slices can be found in the cakes and pies aisle, a packet of 6 will only cost you £0.90 which I think is a good deal and that's why I bought them, a lot of the other varieties were more expensive. They come in a white box which is the same design as the other boxes in the Tesco light range. On the front it has a picture of some of the cake slices on a plate with the nutritional values below it and to the left of these are the Tesco Light logo and their description of the product "Moist carrot and orange cake slices topped...

A less fattening , but still tasty , carrot cake
Review of Tesco Healthy Living Carrot & Orange Cake Slices by
grafter123
Advantages: Low fat , tasty , good price , only 86 cals a slice
Disadvantages: Small , can be a bit to sweet and sickly
...=TESCO HEALTHY LIVING CARROT AND ORANGE CAKE SLICES=
I have loved carrot cake ever since I discovered it many years ago . Most of it is delicious and as it's made from carrots you assume it's healthy .It probably is ok for a treat but it is quite fatty and high in calories. So discovering Tesco's healthy living carrot and orange cake slices has been really handy.
We have had a Tesco Express open near us , within the last year , which has been useful .They do a lovely but naughty full fat carrot cake . Finding these low fat slices on the shelf close to the bakery was a real find .
Usually my husband only indulges in high calorie cakes but even he loves these.
=THE PACKAGING
You get a mainly blue , with some orange , coloured , oblong shaped box about 10 inches long by 4 inches wide and 2...

What's life without cake?
Review of Tesco Healthy Living Carrot & Orange Cake Slices by
Dodie
Advantages: See below
Disadvantages: See below
...Well, I have decided I have been away from Ciao for far too long, that and a few extra pennies might come in handy and seeing as I seem to have done loads of challenges lately I think it's time I actually sat down and typed out a "real, paying review". Not that I expect to make a fortune you understand, but there's no harm in trying so here goes. Be gentle with me, it's been a while.
How many people make the "I'm going to lose weight" New Years resolution?. I do every year and it only ever lasts a week or two. More often than not it only lasts until I hear the call of the double choc chip muffins while out shopping or until I spy the carrot cake in Peters. What is life without cake?. Ok, you know how it is. I popped into Tesco for a couple of things on Tuesday morning and although cake was not on my list I accidentally found...

Move over INSECT CAKE, the balloons have it!
Review of Tesco Chocolate Happy Birthday Cake by
mrsxopher
Advantages: LOVELY SMOOTH CHOCOLATE!
Disadvantages: WHAT no Caterpillar this year?!
...A bit of a harsh title as I do like the lil ol insect cake a bit, but sorry peeps, TESCO has one upped ya!
Right, lets describe this lovely thing.
Starters, its a birthday cake, and its chocolate! When I say chocolate, I mean they start with a VERY moist and delicious chocolate sponge two layer cake. They fill the layer middle with a lovely chocolate creme icing that tastes as if it might be a butter cream recipe, and spread the top and sides with icing that might as well be rich, smooth melted chocolate. NOT HARD coated chocolate mind you, but a nice smooth, rich, melt in your mouth, beautiful chocolate icing! Then on top, you will find three chocolate baloons. One is a solid white chocolate shaped balloon. The other two are similar, and vary only in the fact that one is dark chocolate, and the other is milk. Then along...

Carrots AND orange in one cake!
Review of Tesco Healthy Living Carrot & Orange Cake Slices by
Amy69
Advantages: sweet, scented, few calories
Disadvantages: size, orange can be over-powering
...When I was younger, quite often I would visit the bakers after a hard and tiring day at school to boost my energy levels with a creamy, delectable slice of carrot cake. I had not had a slice of such fine confectionary in about six years, until today, when I sampled Tesco's Carrot and Orange Cake slices.
I was a bit peckish and fancied a little snack a short while after my unsatisfying peanut-butter sandwich for lunch. The peanut-butter had given me a craving for something sweet, but I had no idea what treats were lurking in the cupboard. I opened up the door and raided around the biscuit box, but the little selection of bourbons and 'creams did not seem to take my fancy. Then I turned to my right, and noticed, side on, an orange and blue cardboard box, sitting all alone on the shelf. I looked hopefully at it, praying it stored a tasty...

The icing on the cake, for my Wedding Day
Review of Tesco 7" Fully Iced Madeira Cake by
dreamscancometrue
Advantages: multiple usages
Disadvantages: fattening
...We purchased this cake as the middle tier for our wedding cake, we had already obtained the top and bottom section in fruit filled traditional style from Tesco and thought the change to this Madeira cake, would make a nicer option for the younger ones.
It is stated as being Madeira, but the inside does have a light jam and cream filling, the cakes are well presented covered in a smooth royal icing top to bottom and a piped swirl pattern around the top rim.
The cake comes in a cardboard box, with plastic see through window, enabling you to spot any damage, there is also a picture of the cake sliced on the box, again enabling you to vision the inside of the cake prior to buying.
We were able then to dress the cake as appropriate for a wedding cake, but it would also make a good starter cake, for a birthday, engagement...

Free cakes, hopefully wee wee free too!
Review of Tesco Chocolate Chip Cake Bars by
pennywa
Advantages: Very tasty, lovely colour, perfect size, these were free
Disadvantages: Second hand cakes, not good
...My brother came into our house yesterday afternoon with a bright pink cardboard box under his armpit. He put the box down on the kitchen bench and I went over to take a look. I saw that it was an unopened box of Tesco Chocolate Chip Cake Bars. He told me to help myself, so I did.
I opened the box and saw that there were five individually wrapped cake bars inside, all encased in a lovely bright red shiny wrapper. I took off the wrapping, gave it a quick sniff and sunk my teeth into a really lovely rich, moist and delicious-tasting sponge. My brother kept looking at me a bit oddly whilst I was eating it but said nothing. He then asked me how it tasted and I replied that it was really good, and asked him if he was having one. He said he might have one later and I thought nothing more of it.
I went back to have a second one...
