Tesco Mobile Extra Sim Package "Simply the Best"
Review of Tesco Extra Tariff by
smilerz
Advantages: Excellent Value for Money and easy to use
Disadvantages: None at present
...to go into a Tesco Store, I checked my coverage and it was found to cover almost 99% of the UK so I was happy with that, you always know that there are places you will not get a signal but hey thats life. Anyway I went up to Tesco and picked up of the shelf my PAYG Tesco Extra Sim Package which cost me wait for it the total sum of £2.48 what a bargain, then I paid for it at the till and asked where I could get a voucher to top the card up straight away, and to my astonishment I could get that at the till as well, so I paid £15 for my first top up and went over to the customer service counter to pick up the Tesco Extra Sim Packaged. easy so far, I then went home made sure my phone was unlocked, as I was keeping my phone there was no need to change my phone it was perfectly capable of still doing the job all I needed to do was change my sim...

Extra Extra! Tescos Extra open now in Shirley
Review of Tesco (Shop) by
helbells1986
Advantages: 2 Floors therefore being able to stock more, Cleanliness, Product Range, Offers within the store
Disadvantages: Depending on the time of day the store can be quite crowded, Poor Public Transport
...Me and my faimly have now shopped with Tescos (Mainly the Shirley branch) for the past to 5 years due to the poor quality we found in our local Asda.
When the store closed approx a month ago for refurbishment we panicked as we knew that the small temporary store would not hold the goods we desired (due to us being a large family of 5) and after one visit there decided to shop in Redditch for a while until the Shirley store re-opened. This store was also nice just as shirley so the only problem we really found was the distance of travel. Luckily due to havin our own transportation we were able to make this journey but those who required to use public transport would have found this difficult.
Anyway... Back on the subject of the new store opened in Shirley.
The store has now re-opened with an extra floor level and what seems...

Tesco extra Gallians Reach
Review of Tesco (Shop) by
kazmul
Advantages: Reward points
Disadvantages: spend too much
...I have shopped in tesco's before but have not really thought of it as the place to shop......until now.
At the beginning of september my life was changed. I have been shopping at another local supermarket for years and thought i would give our New Tescos Extra a go seeing as i had got some money off coupons through the post for the opening of the store and a promise of free beans on toast. What a store, what a choice, what a car park.
I have never seen a supermarket so big and so well planned out. The car park is huge with plenty of parent/child parking (which makes life a whole lot easier with my 2)
I walked into the store and thought it was going to be like all the other tesco stores i had been to, small aisles, not much choice on the shelves, and long queues at the checkout. But no... i walked in and it is so bright...

something Extra from tescos
Review of Tesco (Shop) by
GrahamN
Advantages: HUGE selection
Disadvantages: We need more 'extra' stores
...I live near the recently revamped Brookfield Centre store in Herts. The store used to bea regular, all be it large, Tescos store but has recentyl undergone major works to double the size of this store.
It is now one of the new batch of Tesco Extras, which basically means that you can more or less go there and do everything and buy everything you would need to.
The instore reception is huge and iwll pretty much be able to help you with or assist with anythign you may need. In addition they will provide information ont he local area, including providing driving directions.
The pharmacy is superb with resident doctors and the opticians seem to be able to book you in for an appointment that day.
The instore cafe also has an internet cafe, but the food offered in this area is superb. Hot, cold, snacks or meals everything...

Tesco Extra Dry 24 Hour protection Value Deodorant
Review of Tesco Value Antiperspirant Deodorant by
DylanD
Advantages: Smells pleasant and last quite a while
Disadvantages: stains clothes
...Well I am always trying Tescos own products and thought I would try their own anti perspirant extra dry deodorant for a change rather than the usual SURE brand I use. I opted for the Tesco mid price option at 65p rather than the really value product which I thought may be a bit cheap and nasty at 55p but that's another opinion to be written......yes I know I did mention in a previous opinion that you shouldnt judge a book by the cover but one does like to smell nice!
I chose the Active version of the deodorant, here's what I thought about the product:-
Packaging
----------
Comes in a nice metallic green 200 ml container with a sun emblem on the front which is supposed to be white deodorant, it says it's 24 hour protection... well see..
It say's on the back of the container that it's high performance protection guards against...

TESCO GIVE YOU EXTRA
Review of Tesco (Shop) by
Christophene
Advantages: Great customer service, they sell loads of different things
Disadvantages: I spend ages in there!!!
...Tesco is a great store that always tries to do well by their customers.
What other store do you know that offers a great value range to the finest range going beating brand names? I actually enjoy doing my weekly shopping here.
I love going to the big supermarkets that sell all the big items to the clothes and household item's.
Tesco do a great range of food for every budget and it is of a very high quality whatever the range. You can buy the 'finest' range that is about on par with the average M&S stuff it is of excellent quality, a real treat to buy.
I can say that every time I go shopping that I rarely purchase any branded item's everything is Tesco or their value range because I am a believer that it basically is the same anyway and given the taste and appearance I have been proven correct, anyway on a students budget...

TESCO - WE WERE LUCKY TO ESCAPE THIS ONE ALIVE!
Review of Tesco (Shop) by
RICHADA
Advantages: Huge Stores. Stores Everywhere. Fresh Food Quality. Clubcard
Disadvantages: Taking Over The World. Huge Stores, Some Badly Run.
...WHO ARE THEY?
Tesco are simply the biggest grocery retailer in the UK, and by some margin. Unlike ASDA, Tesco is not just a chain of superstores or hypermarkets, they have now split their retail business into groups of shops of varying sizes:
Tesco Extra - a full size hypermarket carrying a full range of food, groceries and non-food goods.
Tesco - a traditional "supermarket" size store carrying food, groceries and some non-food products.
Tesco Metro - a compact store almost exclusively food and groceries. These are to be found in town centres or may be attached to garage forecourts in almost any location.
And now, Tesco's latest venture "Home Plus", entirely non-food retail stores.
Tesco are also expanding rapidly in Eastern Europe, Poland and Slovakia increasingly "enjoying" Tescos market dominance. From our...

Working for Tesco
Review of Tesco by
tia_bailey
Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers
...because they prefer to employ 2 part-time staff who will then be able to cover extra nights as overtime, than one full-time staff who is then limited to what overtime they can work.
When I started at Tesco, my contracted hours were 9pm - 6am Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Since then I've swapped and changed my shifts round a few times, and also taken on an extra shift, so I'm now contracted to 9pm-6am Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and 7:30pm to 2:30am Sunday.
Now, I know generally that anything over 30 hours a week is considered full-time, but at Tesco for some reason this is different. To them, full-time is classed as 36.5 hours and above. And whilst you may think this doesn't really matter, it does affect certain things such as break entitlements and overtime rates.
As well as contracted hours, there are usually plenty of overtime...

TESCO - Awesome Giant!
Review of Tesco (Shop) by
TheHairyGodmother
Advantages: Clubcard, Great Value, Large Stores some 24hr, Convenient, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Company too Big, Taking over, putting small shops out of business
...>------------------------------<
TESCO STORES PLC
>------------------------------<
>---------------<
Introduction
>---------------<
Tesco is one of the worlds largest companies, with supermarkets ranging the world over and products now far in excess of food and drink. To some, Tesco is a company that is too big for its boots, too powerful, and too manipulative over local areas. To an extent I am inclined to agree with them. Small shops which have been trading for decades, overhauled by the introduction of a large Tesco to the area. However, I am a huge fan of Tesco not just because I have a large 24hr Tesco at the end of my road but also I am in favour of the huge range of products and services that Tesco provide and the jobs that it brings to the local area. Clearly this review has the potential to go on forever, but please...

A Welcome addition to Tesco One Stop Shop!
Review of Tesco Opticians by
MikeLB
Advantages: Opening Hours, Prices, Special Offers, Staff, Convinence
Disadvantages: Lack of Privacy. Not very quiet enviroment
...There are a total of 19 Instore Opticians within the Tesco group situated across the UK. They are only sited within the Extra Store formats, to complement the Instore Pharmacy services. (Though there is at least 1 store, Inverness, where there is no pharmacy!). Plans are afoot, according to Tesco, to launch another 35 Opticians. The Optical Project started some 5 years ago within Tesco, and it seems only now that they are ready to launch full steam ahead with them.
Stores which currently have them (May 2005. Source Tesco Store Guide) -
Inverness Extra, Cambridge Extra, Cardiff Extra
Aberdeen Extra, Cheshunt Extra, Horwich Extra
Swansea Extra, Newport Extra, Peterborough Extra
Broadstairs Extra, Redditch Extra, Sandhurst Extra
Watford Extra, Weston Favell Extra, Newcastle Extra
and a host of non dispensing stores too...
