Tesco suits a student shop!

Advantages: Competitive prices, great range in relation to store sizes, good opening times, variety of services
Disadvantages: Can be busy, metro stores have limited size and range, disadvantages of another powerful monopoly

...I am an employee at Tesco and have inevitably ended up shopping at every type of Tesco store you can get - Extra, Standard size, Express and Metro. Since I shop there so often I thought I should give my perspective on why I buy there so much that goes beyond my discount card. I promise to make it as free from as much employee bias as possible. I'm only a checkout girl so making honest observations of this giant corporation should be no problem. *~Product Choice and Quality~* The product choice within a store really depends upon what type of store that you shop at. The Extra stores are absolutely massive and in turn provide a huge range of products. So big are these stores you can even call them supermarkets - these are hypermarkets. You are pretty much guaranteed to find almost any food or drink item (within reason) which you...

Tesco shopping delivered

Advantages: No queues, no screaming kids!
Disadvantages: You do miss out on the reduce lines!

...and "multi buy" items first. I save loads by buying the "buy 1 get 1 free". Plus I don't miss any of the offers as I can see what is on offer without walking around a busy supermarket with two kids screaming at me because they are bored! You can add to your shopping whenever you like, so you don't have to do all your shopping in one BIG hit. As you run out of items in the week you can simply just log back into your Tesco account and add items, up until 4am the day they are due to be delivered. The convinence of shopping online is great and once the shopping is delivered to your door the drivers are extremely helpful. Any products that have been substitued are stated clearly at the top of the receipt the driver gives you and if there is anything on the list you no longer need or something which is not right you hand it back to the driver...

Tesco yes I shop at Tesco's

Advantages: convenience
Disadvantages: spend too much money

...Let me tell you about tesco?s or at least my experiences of Tesco?s Well back when sleepydormouse was in her pram (24 years ago) I occasionally visited my local tesco. It was dirty, smelly; unpleasant I did not go very often. However there were supermarket revolution new supermarkets popped up everywhere. There are 4 tesco?s that I visit 1 on a regular basis the others infrequently they are different in size and the goods they hold I shall begin with the smallest my local tesco it is situated on the edge of the small town I live in. I do not do my main shop here but pop in usually on a Sunday if I want any bread/milk or something for my husband?s sandwiches on. This supermarket is small. It does have a fresh bread section and a fruit and veg section a few aisles with A selection of washing products tinned foods, alcohol...

Shop till you drop at Tescos

Advantages: 24 hour shopping Whayyyyy !
Disadvantages: It shuts partly on Sunday due to the Law! Boo

...In 1924 the name Tesco appeared on the packets of Tea, How did they come to pick a name like Tesco. Jack Cohen was the founder of Tesco and its first Chariman was T E Stockwell. They tool the TES for Mr Stockwell and the CO from Mr Cohen, there for TESCO was born. The first store opened in 1929 in Edgeware and the first self service store opened in 1956 in Malden. I live in Warrington and a new Tesco has just opened and there is currently a price war going on between the stores. I used to shop at Asda but now you have to pay in their carpark unless you spend so much on food. So I thought I used to shop at Tescos when I lived in Altrincham at the Wythenshawe branch so I will tell you all about my store here in Warrington. The Layout ---------- The car park is absolutely massive and I reckon it must be able to fit in around...

Tesco Internet Shopping

Advantages: Saves time and carrying heavy goods
Disadvantages: if you forget something

...I have been ordering food from Tesco via the Internet for the past 3 months, I have been absolutely thrilled to bits with the sevice. I have had a few hiccups but on calling Customer Services and explaining they have gone out of their way to be as helpful and rectify any problems immediately. I have been given extra shopping that I have not ordered and advised to keep the items with Tesco's compliments. I have also returned goods not required and my bank account has been recredited within a couple of working days. The delivery people are also super. I have to say that I give a 10 out of 10 for the service. Something I was concerned about was receiving naff fruit and veg but I have only received the best of everything and I am usually a very difficult customer to please. P.S. There is a £5.00 delivery charge for this service....

Tescos

Advantages: Great Value
Disadvantages: Puts local businesses under stress

...Tescos is King of all supermarkets and I think that they are best for value in the long term or in the big shop as well. As a student I have found that the tesco down the road from me is my new home, as opposed to the Centre up the road that can be so expensive some times in comparison. Tescos sells your average grocerys as well as dvd's and electricals, clothes, office supplies, tobacco and confectionary, alcohol, cards for special occassions and toys. Everything you need seems to almost be in one store, there is also a tesco value line that provides Tescos own products at a cheaper price. The staff in Tescos are always friendly where I come from in Cookstown, they always help you find something if your not quite sure where it is and always strike up a pleasant conversation at the help desk, though I understand that some...

Tesco supermarket

Advantages: A wide variety of well priced goods
Disadvantages: Toilets maybe need cleaning a little more often

.... Tesco Express: The equivalent of the convenience store,,to be found in small shopping precincts and on Esso garage forecourts. One Stop : The only type of store not to have Tesco in its name. There are more than 500 of them left throughout the country, they work on a different pricing system to the larger stores. A proportion of them have cash machines installed. Tesco Homeplus: A non food store offering a comprehensive range of goods. There are currently eight Homeplus stores throughout the country. The stores stock the items that are included in the Tesco Direct catalogue. Tesco Direct: The online Tesco site where you can buy many different types of goods. Furniture, electricals, jewellery, toys, home and garden,PC,photo and gaming, sound and vision, sports and leisure, baby and toddler. Tesco Direct charge £4.85 for a delivery...

All my shopping needs on one site?

Advantages: Convenience, Long Opening Hours, Petrol on site
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest, Out Of Town.

...is the cheapest within 10 miles of my home. There are a reasonable number of pumps with a couple dedicated to 'Pay @ Pump', but it does get very busy and I do normally find myself needing to wait for a pump to become available during the day. During the night only the 'Pay @ Pump' is available and to use these a credit or debit card is needed, which is a little inconvenient if you don't have one. As well as the larger stores, normally known as Tesco 'Extra' there are a number of smaller versions dotted about. These 'Metro' stores are far smaller with a very limited range of goods available. You won't find any of the value brand in these small shops and very often they only stock the more expensive big brand names, so they can make popping in for a loaf of bread quite expensive. But they are a little less impersonal, and normally have...

Tesco online shopping

Advantages: Convenience
Disadvantages: Embarassment

...I have been shopping online with Tesco, on a weekly basis, for 2 months. Whilst I have no criticism of the quality of the goods selected and delivered, I would have severe reservations in recommending anyone to use this service. On every occasion, I have been told by the delivery staff, very politely, that there has been a problem with my payment method and I must provide an alternative method of payment. On each occasion, I have opted to pay by debit card. The problem hinges apparently hinges on incorrect input of my debit card details, account number or issue number. On each occasion, the delivery staff have had to phone Tesco and request they check the details held, and each time, my payment has gone through with no problem. After the third time, I contacted Tescos customer care centre only to be that I must have input...
