Barkingside Tesco Store. Rude Management
Advantages: very Local
Disadvantages: Utterly disrespectful management, and hidden policies.
...with my children, being treated like some second rate citizen that even violates my basic human rights, along with all customers' rights, to be able to buy what is in store.
If manager decided to impose his/her policy, they MUST hang some sort of notice to inform ALL customers that everyone is spared this utter humiliation at the checkout, such as "We cannot sell more than 4 items per person".
But, hang on, this is not the limit yet of these disrespectful fiascos.
On 24th December, I done my shopping in Tesco's branch in Seven Kings, and on the way home I remembered that I forgot to buy tinned fish, so I decided to pay my local store a visit. What a terrible mistake That was!
On the shelf near checkout, there was tinned salmon, and a mini queue of 2 people! There were about 6 tins left, I was with my children third in line to take...

Tesco Super store
Advantages: Big & Cheap
Disadvantages: Often overcrowded
...Well, it's big, It's sometimes pretty, but it's definitely not described accurately.
If like me you've experienced the BIG stores, you most likely know who I'm talking about, "TESCO", Where every little helps?
On all the advertisements we are shown how people never have to que at the check outs because if just 1 person is having to wait, they'll open a new one. What about struggling with your shopping? I've had to many times with NO offer of help. but at least i can truthfully say, they do offer to help you with your packing.
On the last point i always say NO THANKS, Why?
Well that's an easy question to answer. I have allowed them to help a few times and in each circumstance packets & packages have been damaged or crushed in some way. For example: Magazines and Newspapers stuffed into shopping bags with any old items, with no...

New Leyland Tesco Store
Advantages: Great Shopping and Friendly Helpful Staff
Disadvantages: Not found any
...Only opened about 2 years ago, Leyland has already become a favourite store with many customers including myself. Every time I go I am made to feel so welcome there.
Almost every week without fail I will visit the Leyland Tesco store for the majority of my provissions.. I just love the way the store in general is set out. The staff there have started to get to know me and often see me enter and knowing i am a disabled person, they will often offer assistance with everything I need to get what ever is needed.
Leyland Tesco is a 24hr store and has a regular bus service going into the grounds, which run too and from my home all thoughout the day, so even thoguh I am not allowed to drive this is never a problem
Thre fresh food is fresh, and not stuffthat has been left on thier shelves for days. I particulay love the in-store...

Tescos
Advantages: Great Value
Disadvantages: Puts local businesses under stress
...Tescos is King of all supermarkets and I think that they are best for value in the long term or in the big shop as well. As a student I have found that the tesco down the road from me is my new home, as opposed to the Centre up the road that can be so expensive some times in comparison.
Tescos sells your average grocerys as well as dvd's and electricals, clothes, office supplies, tobacco and confectionary, alcohol, cards for special occassions and toys. Everything you need seems to almost be in one store, there is also a tesco value line that provides Tescos own products at a cheaper price.
The staff in Tescos are always friendly where I come from in Cookstown, they always help you find something if your not quite sure where it is and always strike up a pleasant conversation at the help desk, though I understand that some...

Working for Tesco
Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers
...the hours you'll be working, and your pay, and a load of leaflets and handbooks which they urge you to read as soon as possible.
Initial Training
Now, when I first started working at Tesco, our particular store was useless when it came to training. The store was in the middle of a major re-fit, and everyone's priorities seemed to lie elsewhere. My 'training' consisted of my manager giving me a case knife, pointing to a cage and saying, 'work that'. However, normal procedures for training should be that you are shown by a manager or team leader what you're supposed to be doing (obviously this will depend on what job you are doing), and then you should be put with a 'training buddy', who will work with you and help you for the first 2 weeks or so, or until you are ready to be left to work alone.
In the 3 years I have worked at Tesco...

The Handy Store.
Advantages: A handy store with good parking facilities.
Disadvantages: I find that the store is a bit more expensive due to lack of brand choice.
...The nearest Tesco Express is about ten minutes drive away from where we live, if we are on the way to visit my Aunt then we will often stop there and pick up a newspaper and a few essentials.
Our Tesco Express is a relatively new building and when it first opened the locals showed mixed feelings about having a mini-supermarket on their doorstep.
The building is modern with a glass frontage and inside you have to give credit where credit is due the store is spotless and I have never once been in there and found it otherwise.
Our Tesco Express has an amazing range of fresh flowers which are well displayed and are on offer at good prices, I will often pick up a bunch as a gift for my Aunt. It is possible to get a good sized bunch of mixed blooms for under a fiver and they are always as fresh as a daisy.
I also like to have a good...

Fantastic Store
Advantages: Stores in convenient locations
Disadvantages: none
...Out of all the major supermarket chains, Tesco is by far my favourate. Not only are there hundreds of stores in very convenient locations, but they have a huge selection of products to choose. In recent years, Tesco has expanded its empire to countries outside of europe, starting the 'Fresh & Easy' brand in the United States, and has ventured into far more than just the food market, creating its own successful clothing and electrical brands.
The Tesco supermarket is split up into a number of different types of store, depending on the quantity of products sold as well as the types of product. At present there are 4 main category of store carrying the tesco branding which are:
Tesco Extra - These store are considered 'ultra-large' store, many of which have a 60:40 split of non-food items to food, some even having 70:30.
Tesco Superstore...

Tesco supermarket
Advantages: A wide variety of well priced goods
Disadvantages: Toilets maybe need cleaning a little more often
...Extra;these stores are the much larger Hypermarket style stores. The first Tesco Extra opened in1997,and now they are building around 20 new Tesco Extra stores a year.
The largest Tesco Extra is in Basildon Essex.
In the main these stores are on two floors, the ground floor used for food products and the first floor for clothing, electronics and entertainments.
The majority of Tesco Extra stores have cafes.
Tesco Superstores:
The Tesco Superstores are the large supermarkets, stocking groceries and a smaller range of non food goods.
Most of the stores fitting this description are situated in City suburbs or on the edge of the larger towns.
Tesco Metro :
The Tesco Metro stores are the stores that are in between being a Superstore and a Tesco Express store.
These strores are mainly located in the middle of small towns and cities...

TESCO
Advantages: Friendlly people, easy job
Disadvantages: pay,staff benefits
...Having worked for Tesco at some point I have an employee and also a customer's perspective.
I was employed when I was 16; it started off as part time work because I was at college. This suited me because my hours were convenient, the pay was good - above the minimum wage, overtime was available at the drop of a hat and it was a really easy job.
For a young person the training was a breeze - everything was easy to pick up and the local store where I worked had friendly older women to guide me through all the millions of questions I asked. (Best way to learn - asking all the questions under the sun)
I was initially trained on checkouts - the system was old but manageable and the main focus was being polite to your customer, offering to pack their bags, building rapport and of course SMILING.
TESCO do monthly checks on you...

TESCO - Awesome Giant!
Advantages: Clubcard, Great Value, Large Stores some 24hr, Convenient, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Company too Big, Taking over, putting small shops out of business
...>------------------------------<
TESCO STORES PLC
>------------------------------<
>---------------<
Introduction
>---------------<
Tesco is one of the worlds largest companies, with supermarkets ranging the world over and products now far in excess of food and drink. To some, Tesco is a company that is too big for its boots, too powerful, and too manipulative over local areas. To an extent I am inclined to agree with them. Small shops which have been trading for decades, overhauled by the introduction of a large Tesco to the area. However, I am a huge fan of Tesco not just because I have a large 24hr Tesco at the end of my road but also I am in favour of the huge range of products and services that Tesco provide and the jobs that it brings to the local area. Clearly this review has the potential to go on forever, but please...
