...Tea different types, different brands where do we begin! In this Tea review I would like to discuss 'Tesco Value Tea Bags'. At one point I was in the search of a low cost but decent cup of tea and was considering how we are often driven to buying certain things due to their highly thoughout advertising then again 'Value' ranges are also cleverly marketed as 'value' which is appealing to those who want low cost no frills purchases - either way we fall into the trap of clever marketing! Away I went and picked up a white with blue stripes box which stated "Tesco value tea bags" and contained 80 bags - at under 50p was this real ?!.... Actually yes! I opened the box and was greeted by 80 square tea bags which were in two piles (each pile was stuck together but had perforations so you could tear the bags apart) there was a subtle... Read review

...Tesco Premium Tea bags are described on the packaging as being; "A blend of quality teas for a full flavour and a naturally refreshing taste." The tea has a flavour strength of 2 so according to the key on the pack this is a medium strength tea. The product is contained in a simple red box which contains the tea bags themselves which are wrapped in foil, presumably to retain freshness. The tea bags themselves are of the round variety. I personally prefer this type as you seem to get much more flavour from each bag than you can usually get out of a square tea bag. I have found the tea to be tasty, refreshing and leaves no bitter aftertaste even when left in a pot for a long time. As someone who likes their tea strong I would recommend that boiling water is poured slowly onto the tea bag to release the full flavour... Read review

...Tea OR coffee...? Not the most exciting question in the world, I know, but one which is bound to trigger a response. For me, it is a close contest. Although I like coffee, I tend to drink more tea than anything else, so if I had to choose, tea would win by a small margin. I have to say that I am also a bit of snob when it comes to tea. I like my tea to taste like tea and not some watery concoction, claiming to be tea. I have nothing against brand names, like Tetley and PG Tips, but prefer something a little more flavoursome. Assam tea is probably my favourite blend of tea and it is this particular variety that I shall be reviewing today. Appearance: Triangular pyramid shaped tea bags, the colour of the dry contents is a brown and dark red mixture of crunched up twig like stuff in a white paper tea bag. ...Rich tea biscuits for a poor man. These are a pack of value biscuits I am reviewing. 300g of biscuits for 25p can't get much cheaper than that. There are about 25 or 26 biscuits in a pack so 1p a biscuit can't be bad. Mc Vities 300g rich tea pack costs 71p from Tesco so as you can tell from the price. Rich tea biscuits are not the most exciting of biscuit. The Tesco value pack comes in the standard value packaging white with blue writing a picture of a couple of biscuits on it too , blue ends of the paper seal the end of the biscuit pack .. If you do not wish your friends to notice that you are so poor/mean you have to buy value biscuits then unwrap put them in a biscuit tin or arrange on a plate to serve. Personally I am not desperately keen on rich tea biscuits of any kind. The Tesco value rich tea are an ok biscuit... Read review

FAIR TRADE PRODUCE RANGE? 7 / 10 Not being regular Co-Op shoppers, it was in Tesco that we first became aware of Fair Trade products, particularly the bananas, coffee and tea which we have been using for a couple of years now. Whilst the Co-Op has to take the most credit, I certainly am not going to knock Tesco for being in there early in this market and for carrying an increasingly large range of both Fair Trade and organic produce. ANY "LABELS"? 6 / 10 Well we have already gone into the Value Brand label at the lower end of the price spectrum; at the opposite end of the range are the Tesco "Finest" products. ...Tea. AVAILABILITY AND PRICE ------------------------------------ I seem to have huge problems getting Lipton Ice Tea these days. Whilst at universitry the vending machines and campus shop was full of bottles of Lipton Ice Tea. On a visit to my local Londis, Somerfields, CO-OP and Spar I could not find Lipton Ice Tea anywhere. On a visit to Tesco (10 miles away) I managed to find a shelf of Lipton Ice Tea and decided to stock up. I tend to find the larger supermarkets stock Lipton Ice Tea and the smaller convenience stores only stock 'popular' soft drinks such as Coke, Dr Pepper, Fanta and Red Bull. The 500ml bottles cost me 83p each and a 1.5 litre bottle would have cost me 97p so as you can probably see it worked out cheaper to buy a 1.5 litre bottle. The only reason I bought the 500ml bottles were for space in the fridge... Read review
