Tesco value tea - low cost high value !
Review of Tesco Tea Bags by
DrBob2k8
Advantages: great taste, low cost
Disadvantages: aroma from box a little stale, sometimes you suffer stray pieces of leaves.
...Tea different types, different brands where do we begin!
In this Tea review I would like to discuss 'Tesco Value Tea Bags'. At one point I was in the search of a low cost but decent cup of tea and was considering how we are often driven to buying certain things due to their highly thoughout advertising then again 'Value' ranges are also cleverly marketed as 'value' which is appealing to those who want low cost no frills purchases - either way we fall into the trap of clever marketing!
Away I went and picked up a white with blue stripes box which stated "Tesco value tea bags" and contained 80 bags - at under 50p was this real ?!.... Actually yes!
I opened the box and was greeted by 80 square tea bags which were in two piles (each pile was stuck together but had perforations so you could tear the bags apart) there was a subtle...

Tesco Premium Tea Bags
Review of Tesco Tea Bags by
dannyjb123
Advantages: cheap, make a good brew
Disadvantages: not spring to mind straight away
...Tesco Premium Tea bags are described on the packaging as being;
"A blend of quality teas for a full flavour and a naturally refreshing taste."
The tea has a flavour strength of 2 so according to the key on the pack this is a medium strength tea.
The product is contained in a simple red box which contains the tea bags themselves which are wrapped in foil, presumably to retain freshness.
The tea bags themselves are of the round variety. I personally prefer this type as you seem to get much more flavour from each bag than you can usually get out of a square tea bag.
I have found the tea to be tasty, refreshing and leaves no bitter aftertaste even when left in a pot for a long time.
As someone who likes their tea strong I would recommend that boiling water is poured slowly onto the tea bag to release the full flavour...

Tea for Tea
Review of Tesco Tea Bags by
Tea65
Advantages: Good tea
Disadvantages: None
...Tea has got to be my all time favourite drink; some friends of mine even speculated that my nickname came about because of my love of it, unfortunately no. Hence forth, I have decided to tell you all about Tesco's Tea Bags and promise no to be boring or sound like my granny. If you are sitting comfortably and have said cuppa to hand then I'll begin.
The History
----------------
According to a 5000 year old legend, Shen Nung, an early emperor of China was an accomplished ruler, creative scientist and patron of the arts. As part of his ruling, he required that all drinking water be boiled as a hygienic precaution.
One day while visiting a distant region of his territory, he and the court stopped to rest. In accordance with his ruling, the servants began to boil water for the court to drink as it was boiling a few dried leaves...

Finest Tea... but at a Price!
Review of Tesco Tea Bags by
rowei
Advantages: Nice aroma and taste
Disadvantages: Expensive
...Tea OR coffee...? Not the most exciting question in the world, I know, but one which is bound to trigger a response. For me, it is a close contest. Although I like coffee, I tend to drink more tea than anything else, so if I had to choose, tea would win by a small margin. I have to say that I am also a bit of snob when it comes to tea. I like my tea to taste like tea and not some watery concoction, claiming to be tea. I have nothing against brand names, like Tetley and PG Tips, but prefer something a little more flavoursome. Assam tea is probably my favourite blend of tea and it is this particular variety that I shall be reviewing today.
Whilst browsing the tea/coffee aisle in my local Tesco store the other day, I came across an attractive black and silver box, bearing a photograph of a beautiful sunset around a landscape of Indian...

Berry Tea Bags :)
Review of Tesco Red Berries Flavoured tea bags by
mints4merlin
Advantages: Cheap as - um, teabags :) Value for money, and tasty
Disadvantages: Stain! Tea bags drip
...Place of purchase: Tesco
Weight: 50g Box
Number in Box: 20
Cost: 54p
Suitable for Vegetarians: yes
A bargain box of 20 teabags from Tesco own Brand line for only 54p which is a bargain compared to other products on the market such as Dr Stuarts, Twinings, and Tetley teabags which for the same quantity and flavour will have you paying anything up to £1.49 for a herbal brew!
Appearance:
Triangular pyramid shaped tea bags, the colour of the dry contents is a brown and dark red mixture of crunched up twig like stuff in a white paper tea bag.
Appearance when brewed is that the water turns a deep dark blood red and looks a bit like steaming red wine - the intensity of this colour depends upon how long you leave the tea bag in for. My prefered duration of brewing for this particular flavour of tea is about 2 minutes but you...

A poor mans Rich tea biscuit
Review of Tesco Value Rich Tea Biscuit by
mumsymary
Advantages: Good value
Disadvantages: bit boring really
...Rich tea biscuits for a poor man.
These are a pack of value biscuits I am reviewing. 300g of biscuits for 25p can't get much cheaper than that. There are about 25 or 26 biscuits in a pack so 1p a biscuit can't be bad. Mc Vities 300g rich tea pack costs 71p from Tesco so as you can tell from the price. Rich tea biscuits are not the most exciting of biscuit.
The Tesco value pack comes in the standard value packaging white with blue writing a picture of a couple of biscuits on it too , blue ends of the paper seal the end of the biscuit pack .. If you do not wish your friends to notice that you are so poor/mean you have to buy value biscuits then unwrap put them in a biscuit tin or arrange on a plate to serve.
Personally I am not desperately keen on rich tea biscuits of any kind. The Tesco value rich tea are an ok biscuit...

I got nasty habits I take tea at three
Review of Twinings Lady Grey Tea by
PERFIDIOUS
Advantages: Women are like tea bags they never realise their strengths until in hot water
Disadvantages: Revolutions
...form or loose leaves.
The tea bags come in boxes of 50 and a 100 and the leaves in boxes of 125g.
Both boxes are black with Twinings and Lady Grey in golden letters and a picture of citrus fruits on the front.
Everywhere from Sainsburys to Tescos stock this brand of tea and prices start at £2.50.
How to make the Perfect Cup of Tea taken from the Twinings Website http://www.twinings.com
1.
Only use freshly drawn cold water, ensure that kettles or water boilers are de-scaled regularly and that teapots are spotlessly clean.
2. Teapots should be warmed with hot water, which is then poured away.
3. Use the recommended number of tea bags or one teaspoon of loose tea per cup. For one person use a 10oz tea pot, for two persons a 20oz tea pot is recommended.
4. Water should always be freshly boiled and boiling when...

Not everyone's cup of tea...boom, boom!
Review of Lipton Ice Tea by
leofluffy69
Advantages: refreshing, tasty!
Disadvantages: Not everyone's cup of tea
...Tea.
AVAILABILITY AND PRICE
------------------------------------
I seem to have huge problems getting Lipton Ice Tea these days. Whilst at universitry the vending machines and campus shop was full of bottles of Lipton Ice Tea. On a visit to my local Londis, Somerfields, CO-OP and Spar I could not find Lipton Ice Tea anywhere. On a visit to Tesco (10 miles away) I managed to find a shelf of Lipton Ice Tea and decided to stock up. I tend to find the larger supermarkets stock Lipton Ice Tea and the smaller convenience stores only stock 'popular' soft drinks such as Coke, Dr Pepper, Fanta and Red Bull.
The 500ml bottles cost me 83p each and a 1.5 litre bottle would have cost me 97p so as you can probably see it worked out cheaper to buy a 1.5 litre bottle. The only reason I bought the 500ml bottles were for space in the fridge...

Tickety-Boo Is Spelled With A TEA
Review of Tickety-Boo Tea Bags by
jillmurphy
Advantages: It's fairly traded, it's charitable, it tastes nice.
Disadvantages: It's only available in 80 bag packs, it's a wee bit dearer.
...'s sold in many places, including Safeway, Iceland, Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrison and Kwik-Save. Unlike many of the other fairly-traded teas which seem to have chosen fairly discreet and refined, rather upmarket packaging, Tickety-Boo's gone for a real inyerface red and blue scheme. You can't miss it – bright colours, childish drawing of a tea pot and a font in an equally bright, hand-written style. I like the packaging. I think it suits. It screams optimism and positivism at you from its place on the supermarket shelves. Billy Connolly's a jolly sort of chap, I smile when I get my cuppa, and a fairly-traded packet of tea bags whose profits go to charity is A Good Thing, I'm sure you'll agree. I do wish it came in larger packs, though – a measly 80 bag box is all that's available, meaning that I have to buy two packs each and every week. I'd like...
