More tea vicar?
Review of Tesco JK04W by  paisleyman

Advantages: Reasonable Price/Reliable
Disadvantages: none

...an automatic switch off and an electric cut out should an electricity problem occur. In all it seemed a great bargain. I thought well if this doesnt last very long then I wont have wasted so much money. Tesco apparently make a few different models, this one on topic is the JK04W. This model also has a filter that sits just inside the spout. It is easily removed for rinsing under the tap. As it is a jug kettle and quite tall it is reasonably heavy when full but this lessens the chance of perhaps knocking it over. It comes with a twelve month guarantee, an instruction booklet and a lead of course complete with the 13amp.plug. The packaging is a square box in the red ,white and blue colours of the Tesco Value Range. When I got it home before the magic cup of tea, I boiled the kettle once to sterilize it so to speak and re... Read review

Tea without the Pot
Review of Tea Ball by  hammd1974

Advantages: Tea leaves without the Teapot
Disadvantages: Fiddly and messy

...I have always grown up as a tea drinker and my parents have always brew the tea with tealeaves and a teapot. When I left home I wasn't worried about brewing a pot of tea but found it a bit wasteful. I switched to teabags as they were quick and easy and I didn't have to dirty the teapot. However, the taste was never the same and I missed my tea from my pot. A friend of mine saw a Tea Ball and thought of me! This is an excellent invention for those households with only one tea drinker. A must in my house as my husband only drinks coffee. The Tea Ball has a metallic rim which is sealed shut by a small catch and has a metallic mesh where the tealeaves sit, fairly similar to a tea strainer. At first I found the Tea Ball a bit fiddly. You have to release a small catch on the side of the tea ball, place your tealeaves in one half... Read review

Perfection to a tea
Review of Tefal Tea Maker by  headgardener

Advantages: Excellent cup of tea, economic
Disadvantages: None

...Tefal Perfect Tea maker. The Tefal Perfect Tea maker makes pot like tea, quickly, safely and efficiently. It is available from selected electrical stores and some Home Shopping companies. The normal selling price is around £20, however my husband bought mine at Christmas last year for £10 in a sale. Having always preferred tea made in a pot, I was dubious about the accuracy of the claims made by this company, and keen to use my new present, I was convinced that it would be just another dust hoarder to be used once in a blue moon, and to spend the rest of its life in a cupboard with so many other useless kitchen appliances. The Tefal Perfect Tea maker is capable of holding sufficient water when slightly filled above the 4-cup level, which is clearly defined on the side of the Pyrex jug part of the unit. It is possible... Read review

I R good at ironing now - VALUEable IR06
Review of Tesco Value IR06 by  Expired-Account

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable
Disadvantages: Tesco Value

...goods as rations were low and people were desperate for food. The Tesco brand was first seen in 1924, after he purchased a large quantity of tea from T.E.Stockwell and combined this with his own surname to form TES-CO. The first store was opened in 1929, the first self service store was opened in 1947 and the first super-store was opened in 1956. By 1968 Tesco had 800 stores in the UK after buying out a number of small chains. In 1973 Jack Cohen resigned as Chairman of Tesco and was replaced by his son-in-law. Under new management Tesco began to do very well and in 1977 the market share increased by 4% in 2 months. In the early 90's Tesco built up its presence in Scotland as until this point it has been much weaker than in England. Then, in 1995 the Clubcard was introduced. Later in the 90's Tesco bought out a chain in Ireland... Read review

Tesco Value Steam Iron
Review of Tesco IRS04 Steam by  newby2

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: not so good for heavy creases

...Tesco Value Steam Iron I tend to try and never do any ironing whatsoever and it is mainly my partner who uses the iron for his work shirts. Most of my clothes contain enough stretch that once I put the clothes on the creases will stretch out and I am very cautious when the washing machine has finished and I get the clothes out and onto the line as quickly as possible so that as little creases as possible are put into the clothes. Also I find giving the clothes all a good shake before putting them on the line reduces any creases therefore reducing ironing to nil!! But the iron that we previously had was a very old one and after my accidentally knocking it off of the shelf it lives and smashing the plug to within an inch of its life it was my responsibility to buy the new one. I was pretty slack in rushing out to get one... Read review

Tesco Value Vacuum
Review of Tesco VC204 by  mints4merlin

Advantages: Cheap, good vacuum power & still going strong
Disadvantages: Small & requires bags

...After considering many brands and places to buy a vacuum from, the last place you think you'd end up purchasing such an electrical item from is Tesco. But there you go. Mind you - you would too if you knew just how much of a bargain this little baby is. It's a dark blue little pull along vacuum cleaner with a grey ribbed nozzle and black handle. Functions include flip out bristle brushes for vacuuming the carpet with, adjustable sucking power, disposable dust bags and filter papers. The cord is retractable at the touch of a button and the length of the cord is about 3m or so which allows plenty of room for cleaning the house without having to plug hop you way around the house. Any one who has ever cleaned thier house will know what I mean, as for the gentlmen who have only ever 'experimented' with a vacuum - for personal uses... Read review

Tesco Health Grill, Model HG36
Review of Tesco HG36 Health Grill by  sallyspud

Advantages: Cheap, efficient, cooks through thoroughly. virtually perfect!
Disadvantages: Small power lead, no variable heat setting.

...I was looking for something to help with my predicament at the moment & came accross the Tesco Health Grill, by accident. Im having a new kitchen fitted on 7th April & have had to have the kitchen stripped of everything including my cooker, as I needed other work doing, including all the walls & ceilings plastered. Im not a ready meal person. I have to watch my salt intake very carefully & I like what I like. So the thought of microwave meals filled me with dread. I was flicking through Tesco online, trying to find anything I could buy, that was cheap & would allow me to make a meal myself. I am delighted to say I found the Health Grill. It was £13.97, so I was a bit sceptical at first as it seemed very cheap. I went to our local store & they had one in so I plumped for it. I have just eaten my Sunday dinner & was so... Read review

Cookie Up Fun With Tesco's!!!
Review of Tesco Christmas Cookie Cutters by  queenviv

Advantages: Great value for money, fun and festive
Disadvantages: Container Doesn't Last Long

...I was having a wander around the aisles of my local branch of Tesco's when I spotted the Christmas display. My initial response was to roll my eyes and think 'Not already!!!!' but then my eyes glanced across a set of 'Tesco Christmas Cookie Cutters'. They are packaged in a clear plastic drum, which is about 6" tall, and the actual cutters are green and red on colour. They are made of plastic, and each drum contains 10 cookie cutters. Each cutter is in a different Christmassy shape - Star, Snowflake, Angel, Horn, Santa with Sack, Bell, Angel, Soldier, Elf and Christmas tree. I've been meaning to do some more creative things with my toddler so these seemed like a great idea. They can be used to make cookies, to play with dough or marzipan and as they are made of plastic they are safe for little ones to use without hurting themselves. My... Read review

Suck it to me good Tesco's
Review of Tesco VC005 cylinder vacuum cleaner by  chocliteclair

Advantages: Budget price, lightweight, easy to operate
Disadvantages: Filter capacity, attachments are loose and hard to use

...With my old vacuum having just blown up it was obvious time for a new one and with 2 kids in the house it was required pretty sharpish. My parents had luckily not long purchased a new one themselves and after 3 weeks of using it were very pleased with it and so recommended that I follow suit and so there you have it, no trawling the shops looking for sales and bargains, just simple, hassle free vacuum shopping. Chosen product: Tesco VC005 vacuum cleaner @ £39.97 (May 2006) with 39 club card points to boot!! Reason for choice: Recommended from satisfied parents and at a good price Packaging: Box was as small as possible with minimum polystyrene and plastic wrapping - so thumbs up for being green Tesco! and it wasn't at all heavy which was handy for my parents as they collected it for me :-) Contents: Obviously... Exactly What It Says On The Box....
Review of Tesco Tesco by  ricoroyale

Advantages: Cheap, Basic, Functional...
Disadvantages: At £5.89! You've got to be joking!

...THE BACKGROUND: It seems a bit of an indictment of our throwaway, consumer society that I've managed to get through no fewer than three kettles in the past 2 years, without even bothering to pursue a refund, or attempting to get them repaired. Actually, perhaps it's more of an indictment of me than anything… But with kettles, and most other appliances, being so cheap to buy now and so expensive to fix, you can hardly blame me. The first of my last three kettles was a good one, stainless steel, looked smart on the bench, cost about £50. The second and third were both medium-range, cordless, white-plastic, didn't look very smart & both cost approx. £20. When the last of them died, my heart really sank. I hate appliance shopping at the best of times, but another kettle! AT TESCOS: Anyway, the next day, I was in my local Tesco... Read review
