Tesco VC005 cylinder vacuum - very disappointed
Review of Tesco VC005 cylinder vacuum cleaner by  bob21

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Useless on carpets.

...Bought this as a quick replacement for a broken upright vacuum cleaner. Knew that cylinder vacuums weren't ideally suited for large carpet areas, but not too bothered as I only vacuum about twice a month. I have used many different vacuum cleaners over the years, and I can honestly say this is the least effective vacuum cleaner I have ever used. Am puzzled by one of the earlier reviewers praising it and then describing spending 30 minutes vacuuming one room and building up a sweat. I have had the same experience - spending ages and hard effort to vacuum a carpet and it not looking much cleaner at the end. Unlike them, I feel this defeats the purpose of vacuuming. The build quality looks fine, and the loud motor certainly sounds as if it's halfway decent, but there's virtually no suction. When it does suck up some fluff... Read review

Suck it to me good Tesco's
Review of Tesco VC005 cylinder vacuum cleaner by  chocliteclair

Advantages: Budget price, lightweight, easy to operate
Disadvantages: Filter capacity, attachments are loose and hard to use

...With my old vacuum having just blown up it was obvious time for a new one and with 2 kids in the house it was required pretty sharpish. My parents had luckily not long purchased a new one themselves and after 3 weeks of using it were very pleased with it and so recommended that I follow suit and so there you have it, no trawling the shops looking for sales and bargains, just simple, hassle free vacuum shopping. Chosen product: Tesco VC005 vacuum cleaner @ £39.97 (May 2006) with 39 club card points to boot!! Reason for choice: Recommended from satisfied parents and at a good price Packaging: Box was as small as possible with minimum polystyrene and plastic wrapping - so thumbs up for being green Tesco! and it wasn't at all heavy which was handy for my parents as they collected it for me :-) Contents: Obviously... Tesco Value Vacuum
Review of Tesco VC204 by  mints4merlin

Advantages: Cheap, good vacuum power & still going strong
Disadvantages: Small & requires bags

...After considering many brands and places to buy a vacuum from, the last place you think you'd end up purchasing such an electrical item from is Tesco. But there you go. Mind you - you would too if you knew just how much of a bargain this little baby is. It's a dark blue little pull along vacuum cleaner with a grey ribbed nozzle and black handle. Functions include flip out bristle brushes for vacuuming the carpet with, adjustable sucking power, disposable dust bags and filter papers. The cord is retractable at the touch of a button and the length of the cord is about 3m or so which allows plenty of room for cleaning the house without having to plug hop you way around the house. Any one who has ever cleaned thier house will know what I mean, as for the gentlmen who have only ever 'experimented' with a vacuum - for personal uses... Read review

Neat Little Sucker
Review of Tesco VC005 cylinder vacuum cleaner by  nigelcwm

Advantages: price, ease of use, specification
Disadvantages: smallish dust capacity

...This review is for the VC005 vacuum cleaner from Tesco. I bought this vacuum for cleaning a holiday let so did not want to pay a lot of money for it. Took a trip to Tesco and saw this for £29.99 and thought it was worth a gamble and did not expect a lot Boy was I wrong This model is a little gem. Familiarisation I purposely did not read the instructions to see how easy it would to get to grips with. No problems. It was easy to see how the hose connected to the unit, it has a hole in the top into which it firmly clips. The telescopic tube fits snugly into the flexible hose handle and has a good range on it. The floor brush is easily fitted and has the ability to be used on carpets and solid floors. I opened the unit and removed all filters without reference to the instructions, which has not been as straight forward on other... Read review

Do not buy this poor excuse for a vacuum cleaner
Review of Tesco VCU007 Upright Bagless by  tony_316

Advantages: Long lead
Disadvantages: So many things...see full review

...Good points: - If you use the nozzle end, you might have half a chance of sucking some dirt up (although there's an equally good chance of that same dirt being fired back out of the rear end again, resulting in a fun game where vacuuming a simple floor can last in excess of 1 hour) - It's only £40 you're wasting Bad points: - Cheap, tacky design and build - Terrible suction power - Bulky and difficult to manoeuvre, particularly if hoovering stairs etc My god, do not buy this vacuum cleaner. We purchased this on the basis that it was likely to offer us value for money; being from Tesco surely it would offer at least reasonable quality? Not at all. In fairness we should have done more research before going ahead and buying. Looking at the product again on Tesco.com it states 'suitable to use on laminate... Read review

Tesco, here we go
Review of Tesco (Shop) by  mcgoo2002

Advantages: 24 hour openings, good range, layout,
Disadvantages: massive store (could be good could be bad)

...into the store and at the front there is a small newsagent. Exelletn if you don't want to spend half an hour waiting in queues. Chart CD’s, DVD’s, videos, games, books, stationery. Unusually. The prices of Tesco aren't actually dearer than HMV or Virgin!! Shock horror!!! Sometimes they are cheaper if not they are normal prices. Ideal if you live near and want a CD DVD etc. Electrical department. These have been popping up into many of the popular supermarkets recently but have been at Tesco for quite a while. Here you can buy vacuum cleaners, TV's, Videos etc. Tesco also offer a extra guarantee added on to the end of you manufacturers guarantee which is definitely a bonus. Clothing. Here you can find some great quality items of clothing. They may not be designer clothes but they are good quality. Clothes also aren't excluded from... Read review

Vacuuming sucks: How to buy a vacuum cleaner
Review of Member Advice on Vacuum Cleaners by  DaisyRose

Advantages: Consideration of all features will make the search easier.
Disadvantages: Vacuuming is still a useless and horrible task, regardless of what you buy.

...One of my most least favorite household chores is vacuuming. It’s such a waste of time and effort. I mean, think about it; what are your floors for, anyway? To walk on, right? With your dirty, muddy, dusty footwear, right? (With apologies to the Japanese, who are enlightened enough to remove said footwear at the front door.) So regardless of your efforts, as soon as you finish cleaning the floors, they’ll get dirty again, right? Right. OK, so now we’ve established one Fundamental Truth about floor care: It’s a Sisyphean task. Here’s another: If you don’t take care of your floors, the crud will build up more and more until you’ll be kicking up clouds of dust and dirt with every step, your feet with stick to the floor, your kids won’t want to bring their friends home, your friends will all cluck in scandal... Tesco you've saved me some precious time.
Review of Tesco.com by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Avoid trolley bashers, out of stock items and long queues
Disadvantages: Delivery cost is fairly high.

...After a long week at work the last thing I want to go and do is the shopping in a packed supermarket battling with trolleys and grannies who block the stock with their trolley so you can't even get to it. Mark my partner he also hates shopping and I could never ever get him to volunteer for the shopping that is until he volunteered to do it online. Tesco.com is a great, stress free way of getting the shopping done quickl and easily. Today was our second delivery and we plan on using it each and every time. ***Registering for the facility*** In order to use the online shopping facility you need to register your details with Tesco which take a few moments. Enter your email address and postcode along with your Tesco Clubcard Number and then follow on to the next page to enter your delivery details and create your own password... Read review

I will do the vacuuming cleaning mum
Review of Casdon Little Henry Vacuum Cleaner by  ldvda

Advantages: Exactly like the big version
Disadvantages: Expensive

...My daughter had a toy vacuum cleaner and it broke and she was pretty upset as she loved playing it. Well along comes Christmas and my daughter is opening her presents when she gets to the one from my aunt and it was a vacuum cleaner, but not any vacuum cleaner but a Henry vacuum cleaner. My aunt then explained that she was buying a vacuum cleaner for herself, a Henry of course and as she left she spotted this little version in the window so rushed back in and asked if it was for sale. The sales assistant explained it was a toy and not a mini version, she informed in she knew it was and just wanted to know if they sold them, which they did. You guessed it she brought it so that was why my little girl got one. What do you get? A Henry vacuum cleaner, the obvious item, which looks exactly like the proper Henry. Inside you get... Vacuuming Fun!
Review of Fisher Price Learning Vacuum by  BecksterMas

Advantages: Good for role play
Disadvantages: Some pieces cant be removed

...and opposites. Musical fun: There are four fun songs to sing along to. There are also a variety of sound, sure to make your child smile. Imagination: Push the vacuum along for great role-playing fun. It makes a realistic vacuuming noise, which is great fun. There is a volume switch to adjust the sound levels-very useful! OTHER DETAILS This little vacuum is bright yellow with two large purple wheels on the back, while the handle is blue. The upright section of the vacuum has a drum that spins when the vacuum is pushed on the floor -the drum features lots of small pictures that are shown as the toy is pushed along. The back of the upright features moldings of a hose and accessories but nothing that is removable-this is quite frustrating for children when they discover that they cant remove it. On one side the vacuum has an on/off switch... Read review
