BAKED BEANS WHERE WOULD YOU BE WITHOUT EM
Review of Heinz Baked Beans by  fromthedarkside

Advantages: Low in Fat, Nice and tasty, nice and saucy!!
Disadvantages: Pircey compared to other brands!

..., and millions of people picked up cans or tins of beans and they still do today. But it was in the 1950’s when advertising on television really kicked off; with this Heinz who advertised there baked beans with a theme tune ('A million housewives everyday, pick up a tin of Beans and say...’) is when Baked Beans became more popular. And now not only do we have Heinz we also have many other like HP who create beans. ....((Price)).... The price. Compared to Tesco value beans these beans from Heinz may seem a bit expensive. You can pick Heinz Beans up for a measly 35p for 415 grams worth in the normal sized Tin. Or you can pick up the smaller tin for 28p, which consists of 200 grams. These beans come in Tomato sauce. They may seem a bit pricey but they are worth it. You can sometimes pick up a pack of 4 for 99p on special offers... Read review

TESCO Baked Beans - A real money saver
Review of Tesco Beans in Tomato Sauce by  lorrmid

Advantages: Cheap and tasty.
Disadvantages: Unexciting packaging.

...Apart from the normal bread and milk what can you guarantee is included in my shopping every week? That's right, beans and plenty of them. The way my kids eat you have to be sure that they are having something that is going to fill them up. Filling, nutritional and they love it!! As well as brightening up a rather dull looking meal beans can be eaten at lunchtime on toast - quick, easy and always gets eaten. I was always a "Heinz" person but it starts to get quite expensive when you buy about 6 415g tins a week at 35p - adding a total of £2.10 to your weekly shopping. So on one of my whims I decided to give TESCO Value Baked Beans a try. Being a bit of a coward I only bought 1 tin the first week to use of my guinea pigs. The packaging is very unattractive - white with blue stripes and red and blue lettering confirming... Read review

Full of Beans
Review of Tesco Baked Beans reduced salt & sugar by  Schmutzie

Advantages: Are a fairly healthy choice
Disadvantages: There may be certain side effects

...in the obviously salty things like crisps and salamis. Even bread and milk contain salt, and it’s no easy task hunting it down and limiting it when you first adopt a low-salt way of eating. Unfortunately, many low-calorie, ‘healthy’ diet meals are heavy on the salt, and so are some mineral waters. When I see a reduced salt and sugar product I’m pleased, because there aren’t that many of them around. Tesco’s Healthy Eating baked beans are a standby in my kitchen. They are one of the cheapest ‘healthy’ beans at 21p a can, and there are sometimes offers if you buy a four-pack, though Tesco’s current offer at 82p isn’t much of a saving. The tin looks attractive, in pale blue with some tomato-red lettering. ‘High fibre’ it proclaims. Good. ‘50% less salt, 50% less added sugar’. Less than what, please ? I have a look at the information. Well, half... Read review

A cheap baked bean
Review of Tesco Beans in Tomato Sauce by  otherapy

Advantages: Cheap and chearful
Disadvantages: loaded with sugar and salt

...I am an avid Tesco shopper for my day to day shopping, so i though i would trawl through and see what items i could review. Yesterday i did a toothpaste review, so now i will do this baked bean review. Tesco value baked beans are exactly what they say on the tin, VALUE baked beans. Now, you have to admit 9p for a tin of beans is cheap. Before i realised how much sugar was in them i used to buy them. Now i purchase the healthy living beans. For your 9p you get a 420g tin of baked beans. The packaging is Tescos infamous white and red value label. There is a picture of a fork with some baked beans on, but it does not inspire. The label also shows all its vital statistics, like how to cook using a hob or microwave. It also gives about storage and thankfully comes with a recycle logo. Now here is the crucial bit of labelling... Read review

Bean There, Done That
Review of Tesco Baked Beans reduced salt & sugar by  freakydeaky

Advantages: Great taste, good consistency
Disadvantages: Not for those who like lots of runny sauce

...I decided to try some of the 'Healthy Eating' options of baked beans. I had always previously preferred Heinz beans and tried their reduced sugar and salt version. I was a little disappointed. They tasted rather bland to me and the sauce was too thin for my liking. A friend suggested I try the Tesco reduced sugar and salt beans as they had tried and liked them. I bought a small tin to try and was pleasantly surprised. The sauce was very tomatoey and nice and thick (how I like it). The beans were not too hard or soft and were a decent size. I was impressed and have bought them ever since. First Impressions The tin is one of those easy to open sorts with the ring pull on the top. However I still bear the scar of an argument with one of these lids that was a little stiff and difficult to get off. When it did come off... Read review

Beans means.....not Heinz
Review of Tesco Beans in Tomato Sauce by  Tea65

Advantages: Taste good, cheap
Disadvantages: None

...;₪ I won't bore you with too much detail here but the tin isn't a ring pull variety and does require you to use a can opener. The label is a red and white affair with a picture of a fork with baked beans on it and the words Tesco Value to one side and baked beans emblazoned on the front. Okay so I know that this tin isn't the most desirable looking one on the shelves, but do you really care about that or are you more interested in what is contained in the tin? Towards the back we have the usual information of which I'll get to later. ₪₪The Taste₪₪ The taste is sweet and rich but not over powering and there is no after taste, which I find with some brands. ₪₪Availability₪₪ As this is a Tesco own brand, it is only available from Tesco stores or online at Tesco.co.uk. I'm sure... Read review

Baked beans...nothing like 'em!
Review of Tesco Beans in Tomato Sauce by  MarcoG

Advantages: Easy to cook, convenient, VERY cheap, filling
Disadvantages: Too much salt and suger

...I must say, in the last week or so I've been getting the bug for writing, so have thought 'ooo I could review that' on just about everything I eat and use. Whilst making my dinner, of good old beans on toast, I was reminded how much I love 'Value beans' and how great value I think they are. I always make sure that I have a tin of them in my cupboard. As far as taste goes, I can't tell any difference between these and the bigger brands. To be honest, the only reason I buy them is because they are so cheap, one tin costs a measly 20p for Tesco. Ok, so I may be only saving myself about 30p by buying the cheaper option, but it makes me feel better, 'every little helps'. But even trying an expensive tin, you won't be getting much extra, in my opinion. People have commented that in a value tin, you will get more sauce, which is arguably... Read review

BEANS - BUT DO THEY HAVE VALUE
Review of Tesco Beans in Tomato Sauce by  LaineyMc

Advantages: They are cheap
Disadvantages: Thinner sauce

...I am not a huge fan of Baked Beans I have to be in the right mood for them, but my husband really likes them and I found that I was paying around 28p for a small tin of Heinz Baked Beans for him, then I noticed the Tesco Value Baked Beans at 15p for a 420g can even if I had to throw half of them out it was still cheaper than buying the small can, but did they taste as good I wonder, we shall find out later in the review. Well you can recognise this product on the shelves with its basic packaging which is a white label with the Tesco Value blue and white logo on the top and the words Baked Beans written in red and the words in tomato sauce written in smaller blue letters. You will also see a picture of a forkful of the product. The tin also gives you other information such as ingredients which are: Beans 45% Water Tomato... Read review

Beanz meanz Tesco Value, ok so it does not go!
Review of Tesco Beans in Tomato Sauce by  BUBBLES171

Advantages: Plenty of beans
Disadvantages: Too Liquidy

...Ok so the title does not sound as good but does the product? The bean is actually Haricot beans. Packaging --------------- Tin can with the Tesco white value label around with the 7 lines and Tesco value brand underneath it. In the centre it reads Baked Beans in tomato sauce, 420g, quality guaranteed. On the back is cooking guides and storage instructions together with nutritional values. It is also suitable for vegetarians. These are produced in Italy for Tesco. The contents ------------------ When opening the tin, you can smell the tomato sauce and it is crammed full of baked beans. I find with this the sauce is rather runny and a very bland looking orangey colour as though it has been mixed with a lot of water. The beans are quite nice and taste like many other high street brands. They are quite firm little... Read review

ASDA Smart Price Baked Beans
Review of Asda Pricesmart Baked Beans by  ilusvm

Advantages: cheap, good value for money, delicious, free from colours or preservatives
Disadvantages: the packaging is very cheap ALTHOUGH this does mean that they can sell the product cheaply

...~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ASDA Smart Price Baked Beans ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Beans, beans are good for your heart, the more you eat them the more you....... At home I always used to have Heinz baked beans and loved them but being the poor student that I am now I soon realised that I cant afford them anymore! As I looked at all the different types of baked beans in ASDA I saw their smart price baked beans for just 9p for a 420g tin, which is incredibly cheap when you think that you can spend up to 47p for a tin of baked beans! I was utterly convinced that the beans would taste foul and that I would be able to bear eating them. So I put off trying them until last night when I realised that I had used up all my more expensive tins of baked beans and had no choice but to use the smart price ones! I... Read review
