Trusty Tesco Value Thick sliced white Loaf.....
Review of Tesco Value White bread by
bobbetta
Advantages: Very Good price, Quallity seems to have improved
Disadvantages: Might need to use it quicker then other brands
...Over the past three and a half years that i've been living in my own place, budgeting for shopping etc I've always felt the need to hunt out food that is good value for money and the lower in price the better.
I do have to admit over the years I would only resort to buying Tesco value bread when I really couldn't afford a better quality loaf and I rarely finished a loaf unless using it for toast as to me it had a horrible texture a strange smell aabot it, the bottom edge of the slice always had an un-appetising look about it -like it was coming away from the slice and was all dried up and horrible.
HOWEVER!! What with CHRISTMAS coming up and having to stick to a tighter budget AGAIN!! so I can afford all those christmas pressies etc- I bought Tesco Value loafs in place of my usual loaf again.......Only to my suprise I found...

Tesco Bread; it'll melt in your mouth
Review of Tesco Value White bread by
f18nfz
Advantages: It tastes like bread, its cheap its bread!
Disadvantages: shorter shelf life, less 'meat on the bone'
...Tesco Value Bread, summed up simply, it does the job.
The real question here is do we eat to live, or live to eat?
lol im sure most of us are the second.
There is no point me going over the ingredients of the bread lol as most reviews already have written alot about them.
They used to have a small medium and large sized of tesco value white sliced bread. But now they have scrapped the small size, no suprises there as they were pretty useless.
I personally buy the medium sliced bread, i can honestly tell you there isnt much difference in buying the thick or the medium.
The bread in my opinion tastes fine, infact it is quite nice. I personally store mine in the fridge to extend shelf life, as the bread is quite cheap it does not have a very long shelf life. - this isnt a bad thing though, as already the bread contains enough...

How do you explain that, Tesco?
Review of Tesco Value White bread by
mi_ke
Advantages: soft white bread cheaper than others
Disadvantages: even though cheap, a hefty price rise
...Having read a few reviews on Tesco Value bread, it seems like, unlike other Value products, this has impressed a lot of people.
So I decided to give it a go myself, and to impress me is hard, as I am a bit fussy when it comes to bread.
I like it white, I like it as processed-tasting as possible (in my view there is nothing as bad as fresh bread with a rock-hard crust and a dry inside bit), I like it in a bag (as it's easier to seal and keep soft and I like it meduium sliced!
~What does it look like?~
Well the familiar Value label has finally been updated with a frwesh look, and a bit of pink! The old one was horrible was'nt it? Although the old one stll is around the Value bread is one of the first to have a make-over.
In the corner of the white panel on the bag, is the Tesco Value logo-the blue stripes, the Tesco logo...

Cheap White Burgundy ! Oh la la !
Review of Tesco Finest Oak Aged White Burgundy by
zallin
Advantages: Great value when discounted, resonably balanced
Disadvantages: Maybe needs a touch more acidity
...Having purchased a clutch of low priced wines from that Evil Empire of Retailing Everything Possible (A.K.A. Tesco) in order to placate a personal credit crunch, I just hoped that they were drinkable. Well so far so good and the latest candidate to fall under scrutiny, Tesco Finest Oak Aged White Burgundy, was subjected to a trial by nose and palate. This particular bottle was introduced briefly into my cellar thanks to Tesco's tempting Wine Festival at a possible loss leading price of £3.98 (full price of £6.98). I say this as due to laws of limited supply and thirsty demand Burgundies tend to be expensive. At a shade under 4 quid this compares well to the price of a bottle originating from a jumbo sized industrial-esque New World vineyard. Nevertheless to be honest this wine being easy on the pocket was quite welcome...

The white' alright
Review of Tesco Value White Chocolate by
JeffreyB
Advantages: Inexpensive
Disadvantages: Status
...***INTRO***
I discovered Tesco's value chocolate whilst searching for something special. At £0.53 for 200g it seems like good value. It comes in a oblong plastic bag with a picture of white chocolate on the front. I bought mine in May 2005, it is best before 2006. Store in a cool dry place.
***THE PRODUCT***
The pack contains 8 x 25g servings. Ingredients include sugar, cocoa, butter, whole milk powder, soya , emulsifier and flavourings. Each serving contains 136 calories, 8.7g fat (of which 5.4g are saturated) and traces of salt.
Suitable for vegetarians.
***THE TASTE EXPERIENCE***
The chocolate had a strong taste of powdered milk with a creamy texture which might be more attractive to the younger consumer. even so I found it difficult to stop after 1 or 2 pieces. The chocolate added something to the taste of TESCOs...

White Supremacy
Review of Tesco Value White bread by
bluefrog199
Advantages: lovely
Disadvantages: none
.... Frankly, you can keep your multigrain goodness, put it on a pedestal, shine a spotlight on it and go 'Aah, look at my multigrain goodness. I am so healthy.' I don't want any multigrain goodness. I want a nice floppy bit of white bread. And answer me this: if multigrain goodness is so damn healthy, how come the man down my street, who ate nothing but multigrain his whole life, suddenly died last month? You'll never guess. Hit by a lorry. You can't blame the multigrain for that.
So, to Tesco's Value Bread. Not a grain in sight. Good, honest, limp, slightly chewy, thin white bread. Okay, it looks horrible on your shelf, but you can always put a tub of gravy granules in front of it. And it tastes pretty nice. Slightly tasteless, admittedly, but that brings me to another thing. When I make a sandwich, I want the filling to be the predominant...

A white Knight to my rescue
Review of Tesco 4 T 04 W Value White by
daddyslittleprincess
Advantages: brilliant toast
Disadvantages: nothing
...This toaster is part of Tesco's relatively new Value range of electrical items,
To be honest I'm really glad, some-one like Tesco's could see a niche in the market for these items, it enables a lot of the student population and less well of families, to be able to afford better quality and safer items at the right price.
This toaster is a very smart looking item, with a trendy style look to it that will appeal to the younger generation
A cool wall four slice toaster, in white, with Defrost, Re-Heat and Cancel buttons, with variable browning settings, all sounds very good, but really I haven't had any need to use these extra facilities, Basically if I want a piece of toast, I pop it in and keep an eye on it, and as far as I'm aware that's what most people do anyway
I do however like the idea of the bread defrost setting; it may...

White stilton with some bits added
Review of Tesco white stilton A stilton cheese with mango and ginger by
mumsymary
Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: A little sweet for some
...White stilton with mango and ginger.
While shopping in Tesco's I noticed some cheeses on offer buy 2 for £2.39p. One was white stilton with mango and ginger. It was in a 200g plastic wrapped pack. I thought that the offer was good so I bought some .There were other varieties of these cheeses so I mixed and matched them
Now I am a great cheese lover nothing better than cheese and biscuits or cheese and chunky crispy bread.
I put it in the refrigerator after purchase .Last evening so hubby and I set down to sample these cheeses.
We choose biscuits to eat ours with. The cheese is a creamy whiter colour with the occasional orange yellow piece in it; I presume the mango or ginger.
I ate some it is a soft creamy texture had the occasional orange coloured pieces in it a little harder the mango I suspect.
The initial response I...

Tesco Value Bread
Review of Tesco Value White bread by
TheHairyGodmother
Advantages: very cheap, ok if you are on a serious budget
Disadvantages: goes mouldy quickly, not very tasty
...Bread. One of the nations staple foods, and certainly one of my favourites. There is so much you can do with bread, from bread and butter pudding, to sandwiches and toast, to dippy soldiers and croutons.
Most people eat bread most days of the week and if it is made the right way with the right kind of flour it can be very healthy for you.
Bread these days somes in all manner of shapes and sizes, flavours and colours and will a whole range of toppings and additions such as sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts, fruit... the list goes on.
.... not Tesco Value bread!
The Cost
***********
As you would expect, Tesco Value bread is cheap. Very cheap! Currently it is 23p per 800g loaf in my local Tesco store. Whereas most high quality loaves cost in excess of 85p for the same sized loaf you would be forgiven for thinking...

Working for Tesco
Review of Tesco by
tia_bailey
Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers
...not personally had any need to go to the union, but a number of my colleagues have gone to them for advice and found them to be very helpful. One person in particular has had many dealings with the union, and they have helped him to get compensation for several accidents at work. Overall they seem to give a very professional service.
Uniform/Equipment
Uniforms and any equipment needed to do your job are provided free to you by Tesco. However, they do not like to give uniforms to temporary staff, so you will have to wear your own clothes (usually black trousers, white shirt/top, black cardigan/jumper) until you receive a permanent contract. Then you will usually have to wait months after putting in a uniform request before you actually get one, as they have to be ordered in. In my experience it seems to always take at least 3 months to get...
