An Excellent Cat Food

Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: Price

...Orijen cat and Kitten Dry Food: The last time I was browsing round the Zooplus website I noticed some ?Orijen? dry cat food which said it was suitable for adult cats and kittens of all breeds and that is was supposed to be exceptionally good for your cats health. I read a few of the reviews and decided to give Orijen a go. When the food arrived I was amazed by the ingredients, Tifa has never had it so good and is currently eating better than me! As the ingredients are so amazing I am going to include them in my review below. The food consists of 75% premium animal ingredients, (de-boned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, northern whitefish, chicken fat, de-boned turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, de-boned salmon, chicken broth and free-range eggs). The chicken and turkey are grain fed and the fish is wild...

Tesco Premium Cat Food - buy it!

Advantages: Great value for money, good range, litter doesn't smell
Disadvantages: none for us at all, other users may find some

...We live in a household where 3 cats rule the roost. Well we certainly don't have servants who feeds us and clean our toilets. Or for that matter have free board and lodgings! Yes, we are here to cater to our cats' whims and providing the right food is important, otherwise we wake up to a nice nugget of recycled food strategically placed in protest!! We have gone through all types of food for our cats (2 adults and 1 older kitten) including all the big names and all the value names. One day, being strapped for cash, we decided to risk a protest poo and try feeding the boys Tesco cat food. We realised that from one 30p (or so) tin we can spread it out and feed our cats the same amount of food as three 30p (or so) whiskas pouches!! So we placed the cat food in the their bowls, provided them with dry food to nibble on throughout...

Cruelty free cat food

Advantages: Uses free-range chicken, no cruel animal testing
Disadvantages: Only 2 flavours

...Background: I try my best not to buy any products which have been tested on animals. I also only buy organic chicken and eggs because of animal welfare issues. I found it very difficult to stick to these principles when buying food for my cat, until I discovered Burns when looking on the BUAV (British Union for the abolition of Vivsection) website. I found a local stockist and bought a small pack of the chicken version of this food early this year to try on my cat, Maisie, and have been feeding her on it ever since. She took to the new food straight away (although she was already used to dry food) and we experienced no ill effects whatsoever in changing her over (gradually of course). She has free access to the Burns food all day (although she probably only eats about 30-40g) and has a small meal of home made 'wet' food in...

Review of Burns Adult Cat Food

Well..my cat likes it!

Advantages: Good Quality
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive

...Here I am going to review Felix's Rabbit and game in gravy tinned cat food. As I return home from college my little cat Maisy greets me with a miaw. Clever cat ; she knows what time it is! Yes , of course , it's Kitty's Teatime. So , what's for kitty's tea tonight then ? oh looks like it's Felix's Rabbit and Game in Gravy. She hasn't tried this one before , so lets see what the verdict is. As I open the can I am greeted with a nice meaty smell and someone calling out that they are hungry. As I pour the contents into the bowl she begins eating it straight away. I guess that means it's tasty. Within seconds (literally!) the food in the bowl is gone and Kitty licks the bowl. * Felix * Felix is a brand of cat food. It is availble throughout Europe. * Tin * The tin is very attractive with the background being in blues...

Review of Felix Cat Food

My cats favourite food

Advantages: my cat loves it
Disadvantages: -

...When I first got my cat which was over three years ago, I would buy the cat a rang of cat food, and it did not matter which brand it was but now my cat knows which brand is which and won’t eat anything other than Felix. You may be thinking how can a cat know the difference, it’s food after all. But I have to tell you that my cat won’t eat another brand other than Felix. If he seeds food in the plate, he’ll smell it and if he like it he’ll eat it and if he figures out I’ve put another brand in his plate, he’ll turn away and rub himself against me until I give him what we wants. I suppose to many my cat is spoilt. He is big cat who likes his food, which has to be Felix. I normally buy the food in bulk so isn’t that expensive, about 43p a can. You can chose from a number of flavours...

Review of Felix Cat Food

Cheaper cat food but a definate treat.

Advantages: Variety, affordable and my cats love it!
Disadvantages: A bit smelly for us humans!

...Billy and Ralf are our little monsters and are just as picky as any human I know... When we first got our cats we began with feeding them Felix, purely because Billy looked the spit of the Felix cat himself. How dumb are we? Our lads had no problem with this food and enjoyed it a lot, however after a while we started to feel a strain on our purses and decided to look for an alternative. After a few worthless attempts and many tins of tuna later, we finally tryed out Tesco's premium cuts in gravy, and we have never looked back. Although as with all cat food is it a tad whiffy, but has all of the vitamins your cats will need. The best saver of all is to buy the tins in packs of 12 for about £3.71 - each individual can costing about 30p. This is a huge saving when you compare with the likes of Whiskas and Felix and it means that...

Cat milk!?

Advantages: Cheap & good for kittens
Disadvantages: doesnt contain as many essential nutrients as branded products

...and suckers attached to extract and bottle cat milk for the nations pets. This is a rather graphic and worring image to envision. I believe that this milk is actually just cows milk which has been chemically modified to contain the essential nutrients and vitamins as found in cats mothers milk. Phew, so don't worry it's only the cows which have to endure fluid extraction. The packaging is a blue bottle with italic tesco 'cat milk' printed on, the white bar code is on the reverse and theres a picture of a tiny tabby kitten on the front. Volume in bottle is 200ml and cost 42p per bottle. It fastens with a screw top and the plastic it is made from is recyclable. Easy to open, the bottle is secured with a saftey trigger and wrap around plastic loop - similar to some of the peoples milk you can get. Easy to pour, unless someones little head is...

Review of Tesco Cat Milk

It's as good as it looks - if you are a cat.

Advantages: Yummy Yummy we want more
Disadvantages: The cost

...INTRODUCTION.............. My lovely mummy was getting really worried about my increasing dependence on that well known cat heroin marketed under the name of "Whiskas Oh so ..... Fishy." She seemed really concerned, but not that concerned because she kept supplying me with it. She tried to wean me off my addiction by giving me all sorts of substitutes that she thought that I would enjoy but I wasn't fooled I told her in no uncertain terms to take the inferior rubbish away and bring me back my Whiskas. When real starvation overtook me I had to give in a bit and lick the gravy but there was no way I would lick my bowl clean. I really got my own back by leaving most of the rubbish in my bowl attracting flies into her kitchen (I know she hates them). She soon gave in and supplied me with my favouite food again. Yesterday she...

Review of Felix Cat Food

Through the cat-flap. Felix puts the ouch in Pouch

Advantages: 'Single serve' portions, less waste
Disadvantages: More expensive than tinned catfood

...to get used to them. Once open, she just squeezed out the catfood into our dishes. Easy-peasy and no messy spoon and tin to wash (well, she recycles just about everything!). As to the food itself, well, what shall I say? Some of you may have seen the Felix advert on the telly and if so you?ll know that they make a big thing of ?clean bowl satisfaction?. I can?t deny that my bowl was clean after my first pouch experience, but that?s because the size of the portion was so small. I licked my bowl like a well-brought-up cat and then looked at my human to show her that I was ready for the main course. Would you believe it, she was ignoring me! Minna is a bit of a slow eater, so I tried to muscle in on her bowl but she adamantly refused to give way. I had to resort to a few cat-tics (no, I?m not dyslexic - some people might think of them as...

Review of Felix Cat Food

Can cats go cheap?

Advantages: Cheap and Cheerful
Disadvantages: Only one flavour

...I wander along the aisles of the Supermarket, carefully comparing products so I save every penny I can. Value tomatoes; economy beans; and the good old 'need to double up' toilet roll. Then I reach the pet food aisle. What do I reach for? All the name brands of course! I can't give Kitty any old muck can I? But on my last visit to our local Tesco, I spotted that they had brought out a Value version of Dry Food. Hmmm, worth a shot I guess. ~~~Packaging~~~ The 1.5kg bag is presented in the classic red, white and blue of the Tesco Value range. I am told it is Vitamin enriched, and helps Oral Care on the teeth and gums. from the list of ingredients, I see that it contains meat and animal derivatives, so no particular flavour it seems. It is also a complete cat food, so apart from water my cat could easily survive on this alone...
