Supermeat for super dogs!
Advantages: Reasonably priced, selection of flavours and good quality.
Disadvantages: A little smelly!
...Review of Tesco Premium Supermeat Meaty Chunks dog food
The Product
A tinned dog food suitable for adult dogs.
Tesco own brand Premium Meaty Chunks dog food is a regular in my shopping trolley. Ever seeking a bargain, I switched my dog's diet from branded dog meats to this alternative around a year ago. The product comes in a plastic wrapped 6 can pack. Each can weighs in at 400g and the pack contains 2 cans each of chicken, beef and heart and lamb flavours. The cans are easy to open by means of a ring pull, so no messy tin openers to wash.
The meat is firm and evenly cubed within the thick jelly like gravy. As with many dog foods it does smell a little 'ripe', however to a dog I am sure the aroma is mouth watering!
My dog Sam, an adult border collie cross, is not a fussy eater, he will eat more or less whatever I choose to...

At last, a quality tinned dog food
Advantages: An excellent quality food for optimum nutrition
Disadvantages: It is expensive
...are a Cheshire based company who sell premium cat and dog foods which contain real meat and fish and plenty of it. When you open the tin it smells wholesome and looks appealing - quite unlike the nondescript brown smelly mess you get in many brands these days.
The Applaws brand is a natural dog food which has been specially formulated to contain nothing more than the ingredients they list on the tin. They say it is a completely natural, gluten free complimentary dog food which does not contain any animal derivatives, by-products or cereal.
As it is a complimentary dog food you do need to provide supplements or mix it with a complete feed to ensure that your dog gets a balanced diet.
The Flavours available
I bought a multipack which contained five tins of the food decribed as follows:
* Chicken fillet - 75% chicken...

Great value Dog Food.
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: None that I have found
...When we found out I was pregnant with our one and only child nearly three years ago, we decided that I would become a full time mother and housewife. However quite a few cut backs would need to be made to make up for the loss of my pitance of a wage.
Having two dogs and three cats, we decided that they would have to suffer as well, so we would have to change the food we was buying them. No longer would we be buying Bakers complete dried food and Pedigree Chum tinned food for the dogs and Whiskas for the cats, it would have to be Tesco own brand. Although I did draw the line at buying them value food, that would be just too cruel, so I settled on Tesco Premium dried and tinned.
I did not know how the dogs would take to it, so I introduced it gradually by mixing it in the their normal food to reduce any chance of stomach upsets...

Wow, a cheap, good dog food!
Advantages: Cheap, Hypo Allergenic, very good for your dog
Disadvantages: Don't sell dry food in Tescos!
...I had to write this review as I am sick of people buying Tesco value dog food or Pedigree Chum. Chappie is brilliant and cheap! It is £12 for a 15 kg sack and the tins are only 99p for the huge tins from the Supermarket. Unfortunately the supermarket I go to doesn't sell the huge bags of dry food so I have to go to the pet shop, but it is so cheap!
I have a German Shepherd cross and he has a very sensitive stomach. I was feeding him Bakers Complete or Tesco value dog food until the vet told me off! He used to be so hypo as well because of the protein levels in the Bakers. The vet recommended Chappie to me. I can't believe they didn't recommend Science Hill like they normally do, but instead they let me into a little secret about Chappie. It's just as good as James Wellbeloved (believe me on this one) but its nearly 4 times as cheap...

GIVE THE DOG A BONE.......TESCO MUSELI BONES
Advantages: Dogs love them. Eucalyptus & Parsley for fresher breath
Disadvantages: Only available in small boxes.
...before date.
There is a feeding guide but I think most owners can make a sensible decision as to how many treats their dog can have in addition to it's regular diet. In most cases the recomended amount is rather high, unless of course your dog is having meat only at feeding times then it will benefit from supplimentary biscuit meal. ( food intollerances excepted)
MARKETING & MERCHANDISING OF THIS PRODUCT :-
This is where I take issue with Tesco. The other biscuits and treats in Tescos own range are copies of other well known lines, ie ; a larger crunchier biscuit resemble Bonios, the marrowbone treats resemble Markies and a range of chews resemble others on the market.
The museli biscuits are quite unique (as far as Im concerned) The other products are always plentiful across the stores but the Museli bone biscuits are quite...

For all the dog owners
Advantages: Dog enjoys it, firmer stools, shiney coat
Disadvantages: Price
...Introduction
When we got our second Springer Spaniel she was being feed on Iams Puppy food. Since she did well on it as a puppy we continue to purchase the Adult Small - Medium and our other dog liked it too.
Background

Tesco Premium Cat Food - buy it!
Advantages: Great value for money, good range, litter doesn't smell
Disadvantages: none for us at all, other users may find some
...We live in a household where 3 cats rule the roost. Well we certainly don't have servants who feeds us and clean our toilets. Or for that matter have free board and lodgings! Yes, we are here to cater to our cats' whims and providing the right food is important, otherwise we wake up to a nice nugget of recycled food strategically placed in protest!!
We have gone through all types of food for our cats (2 adults and 1 older kitten) including all the big names and all the value names. One day, being strapped for cash, we decided to risk a protest poo and try feeding the boys Tesco cat food.
We realised that from one 30p (or so) tin we can spread it out and feed our cats the same amount of food as three 30p (or so) whiskas pouches!! So we placed the cat food in the their bowls, provided them with dry food to nibble on throughout...

You are what you eat - that goes for your dog too!
Advantages: Super-premium food at low price, natural, added herbs, human grade chicken, different varieties for lifestyle/age
Disadvantages: None
...I'm one of these dog-owners that spends probably too much time reading into what's best for my girls, and that includes their diet. I try to find foods for them that are natural, affordable, and of superb quality. Autarky reaches the grade.
***About Autarky foods***
The word Autarky means literally "exact requirement" and this is what your dog gets. Autarky is a 100% natural, GM-free, super-premium complete dry food for all dogs (they have a cat food too though) manufactured by the Working Dog Food Company Ltd. There are 3 varieties - Springtime (for puppy/junior, 8 weeks to 24 months depending on breed), Summertime (adult), and Autumn/Lite (senior). Autarky is a chicken and rice based food, with added herbs, green leaf vegetables, carrots, vitamins and minerals. It is wheat gluten free, and only uses high quality chicken (human...

Working for Tesco
Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers
...Ok, first of all, I'd just like to mention, this is a looooooooooooong review, so if you're not actually interested in reading about Tesco as an employer, then I'd suggest you don't bother as it will take some patience to get through!
When I left school at the age of 18, and having decided I couldn't be bothered with university, I suddenly had to face the big bad world and go and find myself a job. I wasn't really fussy about what job I did - I've never been ambitious, and simply wanted a job where I could go to work, do my job, come home and not have to think about it.
As our local Tesco is just 5 minutes away, I decided to apply there. I wrote a letter requesting an application form, and a few days later received a lovely letter and the form I had asked for. I read through the form and thought, wow, I don't know how to answer...
