Tesco Breaded Onion Rings
Advantages: Taste pretty good, good value for money
Disadvantages: Quite unhealthy
...One of my favourite tea-time meals has to be steak and chips with mushrooms, onion rings and peas on the side! Mmmm lovely! Its a meal we enjoy regularly at home and I always buy Tescos own branded Breaded Onion Rings to accompany my steak and chips.
~The Product~
Each Onion ring is around 2.5" in diameter with a hollow centre. It is basically a circular ring of onion which has been coated in breadcrumbs, then lightly fried. I am not a huge onion fan in general but I like these as you get a nice taste of the onion, but without it being too strong or overpowering. The breadcrumbs give a nice crunchy exterior to the onion ring when cooked properly and the two textures of the soft onion inside the crunchy coating really compliment each other well.
There are two ways in which these onion rings can be cooked. You can either oven...

Tesco Light Choices Naan Bread
Advantages: Taste good, quick and easy and cost effective
Disadvantages: None that I have found
...'fresh bread' smell in your kitchen and will leave your mouth watering. When cooked thoroughly the bread is a lovely light golden brown colour. The exterior of the naan has quite a nice little crunch to it with a soft centre. The two textures work really well together to leave you with an authentic tasting naan. Not bad for Tescos own brand really.
Naan breads were originally used for Indian cuisine but I tend to use them for a lot more than that as I love ripping the bread apart and dipping them into many cooking sauces such as chili and bolognase - it may sound a bit gross to some of you but I recommend you try it with more than just the Indian cuisine it was originally made for.
~Cooking Instructions~
These naans can be either grilled or oven baked. They can also be cooked from frozen if need be. Before you start cooking you...

Tesco Value Bread
Advantages: very cheap, ok if you are on a serious budget
Disadvantages: goes mouldy quickly, not very tasty
...Bread. One of the nations staple foods, and certainly one of my favourites. There is so much you can do with bread, from bread and butter pudding, to sandwiches and toast, to dippy soldiers and croutons.
Most people eat bread most days of the week and if it is made the right way with the right kind of flour it can be very healthy for you.
Bread these days somes in all manner of shapes and sizes, flavours and colours and will a whole range of toppings and additions such as sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts, fruit... the list goes on.
.... not Tesco Value bread!
The Cost
***********
As you would expect, Tesco Value bread is cheap. Very cheap! Currently it is 23p per 800g loaf in my local Tesco store. Whereas most high quality loaves cost in excess of 85p for the same sized loaf you would be forgiven for thinking that...

Tesco Frozen Beef Lasagne: It's a lasagne with beef in it!
Advantages: Great taste, lots of cheese, not overloaded with meat.
Disadvantages: None.
...As I am no longer living somewhere permanently I am staying with my sister and like to keep some meals in her freezer ready for whenever I pop home for a night or two to save me worrying about cooking for hours and to save her worrying about food going bad in the fridge. I buy the Tesco ready meals fairly regular and these are a long term price offer. Either £1.00-£1.20 each or 5 for £4.00 and this is just a fantastic price and I probably buy five different meals once a month or so.
I grab this box from the fresher and once I get through the cardboard (no perforated edge on this!) I am met with a black plastic tray with clear film and 'meat lasagne' on the top in black print so at least they've got some sort of measure to ensure the meat & vegetarian ones don't get mixed up! To cook this in the oven (45 minutes from frozen) I just stab...

Tesco Tiger Bread: Delicious rice paste & sesame oil bread.
Advantages: Delicious taste, lovely medium crunchy crust, soft white centre.
Disadvantages: None.
...Tiger bread smells absolutely delicious when freshly baked and I think that Tesco is one of the best stores for this bread.
It seems to have become more and more popular recently as Tesco regularly advertise it as a 'weekend loaf' for £1.00 but the standard price is £1.10. The bread is baked fresh in the Tesco in store bakery and if you visit at the right time (lunchtime or first thing) you can frequently find bread that is still warm.
The bread is delicious and has quite a unique smell and taste to the crust. It is not the thickest crust and I much prefer it to standard tin loafs of bread. It is nice and easy to slice with a medium crust and a lovely soft fresh white inside. It is not so soft it's soggy and the whole thing just tastes perfect. I believe it is made by spreading rice paste and then sesame oil on top of bread but...

Bread With A Bite
Advantages: Unique taste, absolutely delicious
Disadvantages: Only available in Tesco
...Every now and then, I like to treat myself to some of the freshly baked bread from my local Tesco's bakery. One of my favorite types is Tiger Bread.
Why Is It Called Tiger Bread?
This bread is referred to as Tiger bread because of the pattern which develops across the top of the bread during the baking process. This is achieved by spreading rice paste and sesame oil on the top of the bread before it is baked. Then, while the bread is baking, the paste dries and cracks which creates stripes across the top of the bread, similar in look and colour to the stripes of a Tiger, hence the name Tiger Bread.
Packaging
Tiger bread comes pre-packed in a transparent plastic-type wrapping, with a label giving a description of the item and the weight. The packaging is very thin and quite flimsy so often it can break as the crusty bread...

Impressive for a frozen pizza
Advantages: Tastes good, easy to cook, cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Not quite as good as fresh pizza
...Pizzas? I?m not crazy about them but I do like a nice one occasionally. The fresh ones from Asda are lovely and you can order exactly which toppings you want. I like the pizzas in restaurants such as Deep Pan too, but when it comes to frozen pizzas, well, that?s another story.
I have had frozen pizzas that tasted like cardboard, I?ve had them with so little topping that you need your glasses on to find it and I?ve had ones that cook to a soggy mess. So, when a friend recommended the frozen Chicago Town Pizzas and then said that he actually cooked them in the microwave I was not convinced at all, but I decided to give them a try.
I love almost every kind of cheese so I went for the Triple Cheese variety in the box that contains 2 x 170g pizzas costing £1.78. The other flavours available in this range and size are Ham and Mushroom...

Tesco Alfresco!
Advantages: A quick, nutritious meal; easy to cook.
Disadvantages: Not exciting or authentic; expensive for what you get.
...a problem for me as I had stopped cooking ages ago and have been totally depending on my mum at home! But, thankfully, there is always canned or frozen food available. I know there is nothing can beat a home made dinner, nice and warm; unfortunately, I'm useless!
TESCO'S ITALIAN MARGARITA PIZZA
Anyway . . . having internet access helped a lot. I opened the Tesco.com home page looking for something to buy online; I was too tired to go anywhere to shop, and besides, my friends wanted to buy few things as well. Together we prepared a huge shopping list including Tesco's Italian Margarita Pizza . I have to say that I had never tried it before but as I said earlier in this review, I have decided that I'm too fussy about everything (especially food and men!), and I chose THIS pizza because . . .
* Firstly I love pizza, as it...

Devout Pizza Lover Approves of this Frozen Pizza
Advantages: Easy to cook, great flavour, great value!
Disadvantages: Almost, but not quite as good as a Dominos. Just as unhealthy.
...give these a try (so the advert worked). I bought a couple (2 for £6 at Tesco) of the Pepperoni ones.
~ What Makes It So Special ~
The pizza is different from most/all the other frozen pizzas because:
1) It comes with a tray which you cook it on, making it so much less messy. You can just slide the pizza from the tray on to your plate once its cooked!
2) You cook it in the oven from cold instead of preheating the oven. This didn't sound right to me however, so I warmed up the oven a little first and then kept an eye on it and served it when it was golden brown.
3) It comes with a generous helping of pepperoni. Most frozen pizzas are stingy with the topping.
4) It's stuffed crust.
5) It's bigger, much bigger, than any frozen pizza I''ve had.
After cooking (it took approximately 20 minutes given my slightly different cooking method), it...

Tesco Value White Bread Baguettes
Advantages: Tastes like fresh bread. Cheap.
Disadvantages: Packaging is not recyclable.
...I cannot get enough of these baguettes at the minute! I love freshly baked bread and although these aren't as good as the real thing they definetly taste fresher than normal bread.
At 39p for the two baguettes I really think these are an absolute bargain! I have tried other more expensive part baked bread goods before and I really cannot tell the difference between the more expensive and this cheaper version.
The best before date on the baguettes is usually quite long, however, you can freeze them if you want but have to defrost for 2 hours in the fridge if you do decide to do this. Mine aren't normally around long enough to need freezing!!
The only packaging is a plastic wrapper so there is not a lot of rubbish to throw away.
To bake the baguettes you just simply dampen them with a little water and place on a baking tray in...
