Tesco Frozen Beef Lasagne: It's a lasagne with beef in it!
Advantages: Great taste, lots of cheese, not overloaded with meat.
Disadvantages: None.
...As I am no longer living somewhere permanently I am staying with my sister and like to keep some meals in her freezer ready for whenever I pop home for a night or two to save me worrying about cooking for hours and to save her worrying about food going bad in the fridge. I buy the Tesco ready meals fairly regular and these are a long term price offer. Either £1.00-£1.20 each or 5 for £4.00 and this is just a fantastic price and I probably buy five different meals once a month or so.
I grab this box from the fresher and once I get through the cardboard (no perforated edge on this!) I am met with a black plastic tray with clear film and 'meat lasagne' on the top in black print so at least they've got some sort of measure to ensure the meat & vegetarian ones don't get mixed up! To cook this in the oven (45 minutes from frozen) I just stab...

Healthy Ready Meals
Advantages: Wide variety, healthy, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Poor Cottage Pie
...to try. For those who like a hotter curry, Chicken Jalfrezi should be a good choice. There is also a Thai Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice, a little more expensive at £2.99 - the Indian curries are all £2.39.
So far then I'm impressed, although obviously not with the Cottage Pie. A few days ago I was in Tesco Express and had a look at their Healthy Living ready meals, but they did seem to contain slightly more saturated fat than the Waitrose Perfectly Balanced range. I have also tried one or two of the Co-op's Healthy Eating meals - good value at two for £3.50 - but there is not a huge variety to choose from.
It's too much to cover the whole range of meals in one review, but I'm glad I have found a source of main dishes that are good for your health without compromising on flavour. Some people have the idea that Waitrose is too...

Tesco Value Ready Salted Crisps - Self explanatory title....
Advantages: Cheap price, simple packaging, nice and crunchy, well salted.
Disadvantages: None.
...Crisps are one area that I normally will not scrimp on purchases, however, I saw these at my other halfs house and thought I'd give them a try.
The packaging is extremely simple, it's white with a blue banner in the middle stating that there are ready salted crisps which contain no artificial flavours, colours or MSG and it bears the familiar Tesco Value logo as well as the nutritional information all on the front of the page.
Upon opening the bag I can feel that these are salted crisps straight away and they feel a tad greasy. The potato is nice and crunchy and there is a good covering of salt on them without being too overpowering. I scarcely eat ready salted (too many other gorgeous flavours in the world!) and I use ready salted crisps for putting on the top of a tuna pasta bake before I top with cheese and then place under...

Are you ready for Tesco value salted crisps?
Advantages: Less salt, better nutritional value, and a great price
Disadvantages: Not for brand snobs
...On a tighter budget this week so I decided I would pick up the value crisps for my daughters pack lunch.
Part of Tesco's no frills range theses crisps are packaged in a white, very plain bag.
Each bag contains 18g of potato crisps, an ideal size for my daughters pack lunch.
The taste
Theses are ready salted crisps that are not as heavily salted as many other ready salted crisps, but I do think they have a sufficient salty taste. The texture and crunch is no different to any other crisps, OK so maybe these crisps maybe thinner sliced but I have eaten other leading brand crisps that have been sliced just as thin.

Not fit to be called a Ready Meal.
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Tastes horrible, Total waste of money
...Tesco Chicken Tikka Masala with Pilau Rice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was not going to do any more reviews on ready meals I must confess, but I am afraid after I ate this product I just had to warn everyone. I am however going to review this product slightly different so I am hoping this method will prove to me more informative than my previous reviews.
About The Product.
-----------------------------------
This is a Tesco home brand product that can be found in the frozen ready meals aisle at Tesco's, or can be purchased at Tesco.com if you dare. The product like most ready meals comes in a black plastic tray divided in half, in which, one section is for the Pilau Rice and the other The Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce. It is film sealed and the packed into a cardboard box...

Ready Meal Heaven
Advantages: Convenience and quality
Disadvantages: Expense
...Over the last year I?ve become a bit of an expert on Marks and Spencer foodhalls. It?s the nearest supermarket to my work, so convenient for lunchtime sandwiches, quick snacks and those evenings when you know there?s nothing in the fridge at home.
Marks and Spencer have had some image problems over the last few years, mostly to do with being a bit staid and boring, especially in the fashion department. However, there?s nothing dull about their foodhalls, especially if it?s convenience you?re after. They have an extensive selection of good quality ready prepared meals, where the only cooking involved is removing the cardboard box and piercing the film with a fork before popping in the oven and putting your feet up for 20 minutes.
There are a number of ready made ranges, from the usual Indian and Italian range to the more...

Delicious Fajitas!
Advantages: Great taste, bargain price, not overpowering spice.
Disadvantages: None.
...of chicken but on this occasion I used the whole amount and I did not find the taste to be overpowering at all although my eyes/chest were hurting a little when I was doing the actual cooking (no - I wasn't burning anything!).
This kit is frequently available for 88p in Tesco stores and it's regular price is £1.99. I was very pleased with this bargain price when we did our shopping today and I thought that the whole meal was delicious. I usually buy an Old El Paso fajita kit but I enjoyed this just as much and it's currently around 1/3 of the price so it's a fantastic way of saving some more money on my shopping. I would highly recommend the kit as it's very simple to cook and readily available in Tesco stores. I am rating this kit 5/5 as it's fantastic and the fajitas tasted gorgeous when I added some mayonnaise and grated cheese....

Tesco Fantastic Meal Deal for two £9.00 (or was it £16.98)
Advantages: Ok when the correct order arrives
Disadvantages: 0845 Phone call to sort out probs - getting pushed from pillar to post
...As our local Tesco is being rebuilt and I would have an 18 mile round trip to supermarket shop, I have decided to shop online... Shopping on line is easy, but has it's pitfalls as I discovered this evening. Tesco are currently offering a fantastic meal deal for two:
Main course, Side dish, Dessert and a bottle of plonk all for the amazing price of £9.00, great I thought - So I ordered
Lancashire Hot pot for two,
Raspberry & Belgian white choc puddings for two,
Parsnip and Parmesan mash for two,
And a bottle of Chardonnay the total sum of the items ordered = £18.48
Golly what a bargain....
Shopping arrived; driver explains that there has been a substitution for one of the products that I have ordered, so instead of Lancashire hot pot - I received Beef casserole and dumplings - that?s fine I said...... On packing away said...

Working for Tesco
Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers
...the hours you'll be working, and your pay, and a load of leaflets and handbooks which they urge you to read as soon as possible.
Initial Training
Now, when I first started working at Tesco, our particular store was useless when it came to training. The store was in the middle of a major re-fit, and everyone's priorities seemed to lie elsewhere. My 'training' consisted of my manager giving me a case knife, pointing to a cage and saying, 'work that'. However, normal procedures for training should be that you are shown by a manager or team leader what you're supposed to be doing (obviously this will depend on what job you are doing), and then you should be put with a 'training buddy', who will work with you and help you for the first 2 weeks or so, or until you are ready to be left to work alone.
In the 3 years I have worked at Tesco...

Tesco Value Noodles - Cheapest Meal In The World!
Advantages: Quick to make, Easy to make, CHEAP
Disadvantages: None I can think of!
... Anyone who thinks that the higer priced goods are better quality have been overthrown by this product
Anyone who has experienced dark days financially, be it as a student, or even just as a proper hygenic normal tax paying person will no doubt have had a few trips to the supermarket with the confines of a strict budget weighing on the back of their minds. Teh supermarkets own brand becomes your new best friend.
You've got a budget to keep but mouths to feed. These noodles are a quick snack or they can be a part of your meal, your choice. They take around 2-3 minutes to cook and they are ready to eat! This is perfect, you can even make them on the TV break! So whats there to comlain about. They are quick, cheap and tasty.
Packaging
They come in a white packet, small enough to keep in the cupboard. They are...
