For the Food Drive

Advantages: It's not a half bad dessert
Disadvantages: What would the chefs say

...Mmmm, custard. It's a favourite of mine, and I'm not sure that I have ever came across anyone who doesn't like it. When you do want custard it can be a slight hassle to get out the powder and make it yourself, so in this day and age of so many things being ready made, why not get some ready made custard? Tesco Value Ready to Serve Custard is not the most attractive product in the whole wide world, but what blue line product is? The tins not even nice to look at, this particular tin that I've got at the moment - and I guess it's just luck of the draw, seems to have a lot of black marks around the bottom that not even the label stuck around the tin can hide. As for the label itself, well I know Tesco do try and make their products look tasy, and I will genuinely say that the image of the custard being poured into a bowl on the front...

Review of Tesco Ready to Eat Custard

custard in a pot

Advantages: a good alternative to a yogurt
Disadvantages: none

...This is a great dessert in a pot, it is a good alternative to a yogurt. I bought it in the first place as it was something different for the kids pack lunches, now I find that I eat them more then the kids. **What is it like** It is a yellow ready to eat custard in a pot like a yogurt, it is of quite a thick constitency, has a sweet pleasant smell and taste delicious, very easy digested. **packaging** The packaging is just a simple yellow and white background with the logo of tesco in red, and in blue the words are written ready to eat custard, very easily opened with the foil top. **Other information** It is suitable for vegetarians, not suitble for anyone with nut allergies as the product is made in a factory that uses nut ingredients, this custard can be eaten hot or cold, if eaten cold it is best kept in the fridge...

Review of Tesco Ready to Eat Custard

A real scrummy pudding

Advantages: Really yummy, no preparation, always on the shelf.
Disadvantages: Its got calories!

...Why am I writing about custard? Erm , might be because I?m hormonic today. I?m feeling really cheesed off about loosing my house. The previous review will tell you why I?ve gone to food today. Food is a good comforter and what did I reach for today, well a whole carton of TESCO CUSTARD poured over a slice of my mums homemade chocolate cake. Forget the calories, I don?t get weighed in till next Tuesday, so will have to starve from tomorrow otherwise I will suffer the wrath of Sharon. Anyway, as I feel sick and a complete pig of myself, here?s a brief description of this scrumptious yummy desert accompaniment that I have just hogged down. WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? It?s thick and gluppy but no lumps like the custard at school dinners. WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE? Really delish, not too sweet, just right. Its very addictive...

Review of Tesco Ready to Eat Custard

Ready to Eat

Advantages: Great range, ethical
Disadvantages: Expensive

...Ready to Eat Pret a Manger is my lunchtime, well, and breakfast treat. Pret a Manger is a French phrase meaning ready to eat and that's exactly the way to explain the food they sell in their outlets. Pret (as it is most commonly known) is a UK sandwich retailer. As of November 2006 there were 155 UK shops with 118 of them in London. I work in London so these stores are very handy for me. You could probably walk down any busy London high street and find one, they are that prolific. They are very easy to spot. They have a sign out front which says Pret in big red letters with a red star behind it which is their logo. Inside all the stores are the same, they have a lot of chrome in them and red seats and booths for sitting. The sandwiches and other food stuffs are displayed in big metal cases or fridges in some instances to keep...

Review of Pret A Manger

Sugar Free Treat

Advantages: fat free, under 10 calories, convenient, tasty flavours
Disadvantages: more range in flavours would be nice

...I'm not a big pudding person, especially when watching my waistline (a moment on the lips and all that!) but sometimes, a sweet treat is called for after dinner. I actually first purchased these as I had a diabetic relative coming over and these are one of the desserts that they can eat as they are sugar free. I was aware of the Hartley's brand as I have previously bought their jams and found these to be fruity and tasty. There are two main ranges of ready to eat no added sugar jellies - the ones picture here are those aimed at adults - but there are also slightly smaller pots that are great for children's lunchboxes. These come in strawberry, lemon & lime, orange, blackcurrant and raspberry flavours. The adult pots are available in blueberry & blackcurrant flavour, mango & passionfruit and cranberry and raspberry flavour...

Review of Hartley's Ready to Eat Sugar Free Jellies

Wibble wobble- the jelly; not your tummy!

Advantages: Low calories; fat free; reuseable pots; classic jelly texture
Disadvantages: A bit too wobbly; lacked flavour and sweetness of any sort

...Having perhaps read my review of Hartley's jelly crystals, you will know that I love jelly; in particular, sugar free, as a sin free pudding or snack which I can induldge in without guilt. Now, if you've read my other reviews, I don't deprive myself of the odd sugary treat - lives too short in my opinion, but if I can opt for the same product which is healthier then I will do. Hartley's ready to eat sugar free jelly is marketed towards adults, so there's no squirming in embarassment at the counter when I used to pick up the kiddie pots of jelly. Because of this, the flavours are a tad more sophisticated than the average 'strawberry' or 'blackcurrent', though there are only 3 flavours available as they are quite new: *Cranberry and Raspberry (C & R) *Blueberry and Blackcurrent (B & B) *Mango and Passionfruit (M & PF) Moreover...

Review of Hartley's Ready to Eat Sugar Free Jellies

Pret a Mager / Ready to Eat

Advantages: Fast Clean Staff, Super Fresh Food, Efficiently Presented, Pleasant Experience, Tasty Food
Disadvantages: A little expensive but no more than competitors, like Costa, Nero, Starbucks etc

...patisserie, like croissants etc. And near the bar area you can also pick snacky food like crisps and chocs etc I especially love the Love Bar, full of loveliness, like nuts and caramel and cereal yum yum... Staff are also very clean and well dressed in their uniforms but on occasions there is room for improvement. Overall a nice place to eat in or take out, is not very cheap but I suppose it reflects quality even though not long ago they where mentioned on TV for the fact that certain sandwiches are a little high on the fat content ....my answer to that is, well don't buy those then, buy something else, as I feel sometimes the naughty ones are the ones with the best flavour. PLEASE having taken the time to read this review, SPARE one more second to COMMENT on it....

Review of Pret a Manger

Cheap, sweet and ready to eat!

Advantages: A great taste, low fat and low price too
Disadvantages: The plain packaging means that you may not notice this great deal onthe shelf.

...Isn't it really annoying when you buy something at an extortionate price and find out on returning home that you could have made the same purchase but at a fraction of the price? This is the scenario which many of us face when visiting the local supermarkets. Poorly tasting, high-in-fat, unhealthy food is pressed on us continuously until we cannot bare it anymore and make a purchase which we normally regret later. This applies to a product which many of us buy each time we visit the shops - yoghurt. Yoghurt is meant to be a healthy alternative to biscuits, cakes and other naughty but nice treats. However, what seems like a low-fat low-cal snack can actually be just the opposite. In fact, some yoghurts have a higher fat and calorie content than some of the biscuits found in supermarkets these days. What with all of the additives added...

Tesco Premium Cat Food - buy it!

Advantages: Great value for money, good range, litter doesn't smell
Disadvantages: none for us at all, other users may find some

.... The tins have easy-to-open ring pulls which save messing about with tin openers and also stop hedgehogs getting their heads caught in them if you throw them away instead of recycle. If your cats wont eat from tins try them on the pouches. We also supplement our cats with dry food, usually Breakies or GoCat throughout the day and formulated cat milk on occasion. We never let our cats eat human food, or scraps knowingly. Review of Tesco Premium Cuts in Gravy Cat Food

Ready to eat

Advantages: Fresh Sandwiches in a range of selections
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

...Pret A Manger is French for "Ready To Eat" It was founded by two businessmen when they left university. They decided to start Pret because the lack of choice in the fast food market at that time. They wanted something fresh and delicious, not all fried stuff like KFC. Now before people start thinking that I am some kind of Pret A Manger Anorac, I used to work in a branch for a year before I moved to Nottingham. You learn a lot of this stuff when you are training. I do enjoy Pret food. It is freshly prepared each day (think of the poor sandwich makers, some of whom are starting work at 5am) and usually there is a reasonable choice. One of the downsides is that some of the range changes quite regularly. The shop has a top ten which include things like BLT, chicken Ceaser etc but if you sarnie is not in that range...
