Anyone Fancy A Quiche??
Advantages: Good value for money, full of flavour, filling
Disadvantages: Only avialble at Tesco, difficult to get out of foil base
...With me being a vegetarian, I am sometimes limited as to what quiches I can eat. One of my favourites is the Tesco Broccoli Quiche.
Packaging
The quiche comes in a green box with a picture of the quiche on the front with Tesco Broccoli quiche written on the front. On the back is all the usual information such as ingredients, cooking instructions and weight. The quiche I am reviewing is a 400 gram quiche.
Price
Obviously, this quiche is only available in Tesco and here it costs £2.80 for two which I consider to be reasonable. The best thing is that this special offer is one of Tesco?s ?long term offers? which means they are pretty much always available for that price.
If you just want to buy the one quiche then they are £1.48 each.
Sizes
These quiches come in two sizes - the small sizes (not sure of exact weight) that are...

Give Us a Quiche
Advantages: lovely
Disadvantages: NONE
...I really like quiche, so don't go around saying I don't. It's such a substantial, filling snack, containing all the elements of a really good, solid munch. Okay, it doesn't have the macho grittiness of the pork pie or the sausage roll, but hey, this is 2006, people. No-one cares about that sort of thing any more. You can happily be seen eating a quiche and still enter the World's Strongest Man competition, and win it and then bend the trophy into the shape of knot. Gone are the days when quiche was referred to as Gay Pie. In fact, I'm not sure those days ever existed to be honest. But I just thought of 'Gay Pie' and thought it was funny.
But anyway, let's talk about Tesco Quiche Lorraine. First, a bit of background. Quiche Lorraine is not, as many idiots assume, named after a lady called Lorraine. It is actually a derivation of Lord...

A Tasty Dish From Tesco
Advantages: A quick to prepare and inexpensive dish
Disadvantages: High in fats
...A savoury quiche can make a quick and inexpensive family meal. Ideal for supper served with a jacket potato and salad or equally as good served with some fresh crispy golden brown chips and a side salad. Party buffet meals hardly ever fail to have a couple of platefuls of sliced quiche on offer to guests.
But anyone who makes a savoury quiche has to get the balance just right, the seasoning is all important and it is vital that the quiche is filled with tasty ingredients. Smoked bacon is ideal for using in a quiche.
On the whole most supermarkets offer a good selection of quiches at very reasonable prices too. These Tesco Bacon and Leek quiches weigh 400g each and at this very moment are on offer at £1.88 each or two for £3, not forgetting that you will get Tesco Clubcard points added too.
Take into account that one quiche should...

Tesco Value Ready Salted Crisps - Self explanatory title....
Advantages: Cheap price, simple packaging, nice and crunchy, well salted.
Disadvantages: None.
...Crisps are one area that I normally will not scrimp on purchases, however, I saw these at my other halfs house and thought I'd give them a try.
The packaging is extremely simple, it's white with a blue banner in the middle stating that there are ready salted crisps which contain no artificial flavours, colours or MSG and it bears the familiar Tesco Value logo as well as the nutritional information all on the front of the page.
Upon opening the bag I can feel that these are salted crisps straight away and they feel a tad greasy. The potato is nice and crunchy and there is a good covering of salt on them without being too overpowering. I scarcely eat ready salted (too many other gorgeous flavours in the world!) and I use ready salted crisps for putting on the top of a tuna pasta bake before I top with cheese and then place under...

Tesco Mince Pies Are Great!
Advantages: tasty, looks nice, smells good
Disadvantages: the calories..
...Tesco mince pies are scrumptious!!
First of all, I brought these last Saturday and I could not wait to get home to try one! They were only around 70p and I thought this was an absolute bargain! Mince pies like these only come out at Christmas so it is quite a shame really because they are lovely!
The Packaging
As would be expected these mince pies come in packs of sixes and they are in a plastic tray with the foil cases which is handy as they get messy! The packet is Christmas themed and gets you really in the mood.
The Product
The actual mince pies are lovely. I prefer these to any other sort because, the pastry is not too heavy, it is sprinkled with sugar on top, there is a pastry star design and the mince is not hard like I have found in some other mince pies! It is nice and thick but not solid.
Why buy these over other...

Are you ready for Tesco value salted crisps?
Advantages: Less salt, better nutritional value, and a great price
Disadvantages: Not for brand snobs
...On a tighter budget this week so I decided I would pick up the value crisps for my daughters pack lunch.
Part of Tesco's no frills range theses crisps are packaged in a white, very plain bag.
Each bag contains 18g of potato crisps, an ideal size for my daughters pack lunch.
The taste
Theses are ready salted crisps that are not as heavily salted as many other ready salted crisps, but I do think they have a sufficient salty taste. The texture and crunch is no different to any other crisps, OK so maybe these crisps maybe thinner sliced but I have eaten other leading brand crisps that have been sliced just as thin.

The quintessential quiche
Advantages: tasty, good value for money.
Disadvantages: High in fat and saturated fat.
...Background...
Quiche is a french dish that contains mainly eggs and milk or cream that is baked in a shortcrust pastry. Meat, vegeatbles or cheese are also added to the dish to provide colour, flavour and texture.
Quiche Lorraine is the most common quiche and consists of eggs, milk, bacon and onion, originally quiche lorraine did not contain cheese however these days many quiche lorraines do.
I am a big fan of quiche and have tried several of the Tesco ones and have never been disappointed, this one is no exception and so I decided to give it the recognition it deserves in the hope that more people will give it a try and enjoy it as I have, well here goes...
The packaging...

Tesco Alfresco!
Advantages: A quick, nutritious meal; easy to cook.
Disadvantages: Not exciting or authentic; expensive for what you get.
...a problem for me as I had stopped cooking ages ago and have been totally depending on my mum at home! But, thankfully, there is always canned or frozen food available. I know there is nothing can beat a home made dinner, nice and warm; unfortunately, I'm useless!
TESCO'S ITALIAN MARGARITA PIZZA
Anyway . . . having internet access helped a lot. I opened the Tesco.com home page looking for something to buy online; I was too tired to go anywhere to shop, and besides, my friends wanted to buy few things as well. Together we prepared a huge shopping list including Tesco's Italian Margarita Pizza . I have to say that I had never tried it before but as I said earlier in this review, I have decided that I'm too fussy about everything (especially food and men!), and I chose THIS pizza because . . .
* Firstly I love pizza, as it...

Hangover Prevention in a Tasty Pie!!!!
Advantages: Tastes gorgeous, quite cheap, easy to cook
Disadvantages: Thin on the mash, needs a bit of salt
...We shop at Tesco quite a lot in our house and mum and me like to have a look for something a bit different every now and again. Recently, we came across some Chicken and Broccoli Cumberland Pie Ready Meals, which were on special offer of two for £3.00. As they normally sell for £1.97 each, we thought this was probably a good bargain, so we snatched up two right away.
Mum doesn't like us to eat too many ready meals as she reckons they're not very good for us, but sometimes I think they're just so handy to pop in the microwave after you come back home late at night, or when you've been out with your mates for the night and you need something to eat in a hurry. These pies were in the chill compartment but they can be frozen, so mum popped one in the fridge and we froze the other one as they didn't have a very long date on the box...

Tesco Versus Mr Kipling
Advantages: Good value for money.
Disadvantages: Not as good as home made.
...more cheaply in a store that does not have their own brand as a main competitor. The prices in Tesco are:
Mr Kipling Bramley Apple Pies £1.04 for 6
Tesco Bramely Apple Pies £0.78 for 6
**Conclusion**
The taste, texture, look, and nutritional values are all very similar.
If you want to pay extra for sturdier and individual packaging, which you may consider worth it for lunch boxes or picnics, buy from Mr Kipling. If you don?t need this type of packaging buy Tesco?s pies, unless you are nowhere near a Tesco, or Mr Kipling?s pies are cheaper because they are on special offer.
**Serving Suggestions for Both Brands**
They are ready to eat cold, and I think it is pleasant to add ice cream in warm weather.
If you prefer to eat them warm, or if you want to darken what some may think is anaemic looking pastry...
