Tesco Frozen Beef Lasagne: It's a lasagne with beef in it!
Advantages: Great taste, lots of cheese, not overloaded with meat.
Disadvantages: None.
...As I am no longer living somewhere permanently I am staying with my sister and like to keep some meals in her freezer ready for whenever I pop home for a night or two to save me worrying about cooking for hours and to save her worrying about food going bad in the fridge. I buy the Tesco ready meals fairly regular and these are a long term price offer. Either £1.00-£1.20 each or 5 for £4.00 and this is just a fantastic price and I probably buy five different meals once a month or so.
I grab this box from the fresher and once I get through the cardboard (no perforated edge on this!) I am met with a black plastic tray with clear film and 'meat lasagne' on the top in black print so at least they've got some sort of measure to ensure the meat & vegetarian ones don't get mixed up! To cook this in the oven (45 minutes from frozen) I just stab...

Tesco Mediterranean Chargrilled Vegetables
Advantages: The taste of the barbecue straight from the oven
Disadvantages: n/a
...This is yummy, scrummy and goes down lovely in your tummy, had to say that.
This is a Tesco's Frozen product, and contains chunky pieces of courgettes, aubergines, red and yellow peppers and onions all coated in a light extra virgin olive oil and garlic dressing.
It is suitable for vegetarians and contains no trace of nuts.
The price is £1.69 for a 700g pack (there has been an offer on at Tesco's for Buy One get One Free, but this offer may not still be on) which they state contains 7 servings, but you would have to a mouse to be content with that. I use a whole packet for three of us, or if I am having a greedy moment I will eat the whole packet just for lunch, I really can't get enough of it.
The dressing it is in is very light so you are not overwhelmed at all by the garlic content, ther is just a very subtle hint to...

Tesco Value Tortilla Chips :-P
Advantages: 25p a pack! ideal for dipping
Disadvantages: taste bland on their own, boring packaging.
...Cost: 25p
Weight: 200g
Place of Purchase: Tesco Extra
Packaging:
Tesco tortilla chips come in a plastic crisps style bag. It's rectangular in shape and measures about 17cm in length by 10 cm across. Half of the packaging is clear see through so you can see the yellow/ brown spotted triangular tortilla chips and the other half of the pack is plain white.
As with most own brand products the packaging is extremely simple to reduce costs and can put many customers off buying it. I don't like to have these around the house when visitors come over, but if you tip them into a funky plastic salad bowl and accompany with dip - noone seems to notice that they are not the Real McCoy (okay, real Doritos, but doesn't have the same ring to it).
Once again, this good old tesco value product is made from recycled materials so is a green...

A Medley of Vegetable Soaps.
Advantages: Vegetarian. Non-animal tested. Recyclable packaging.
Disadvantages: Scale and residue left in bath.
...These days I seem to be a ?soapaholic?, and I don?t mean the TV variety! No harm in that, I hear you say, although my family would beg to differ.
Tesco?s have a range of ?vegetable? soaps, currently priced at 24p per bar in their bath products section. I found four different types to trial with some very exotic sounding names.
I felt this was a kind of challenge, after all, what on Earth could you expect for 24p! Would the answer to this question, equate to the conclusions? Or might they be beyond all expectations, and prove to be the ultimate bargain, bathroom product?
*To stop repetition of certain traits, which apply to all four bars, I have compiled a list of factors that apply to each one:
Firstly, all these ?vegetable? soaps are 125g bars. All contain Vitamin E. Non of the ingredients or products have been tested...

The finest oven chips I've ever eaten!
Advantages: Great taste, crisp outside, fluffy inside, such a nice product!
Disadvantages: None.
...I house sitted for my Mum recently and she left me a whole bag of these in the freezer.
The chips are provided in a polythene bag which I cut open with a pair of scissors. I placed a generous portion of chips on to an oven tray and then finally seasoned them before drizzling a tad of oil over them and putting them in the oven on around 220 for 30 minutes or so. I didn't take them out until they were as golden as they appear on the packet and the smell being produced by them was fantastic and utterly mouth-watering!
The chips were lovely and crisp on the outside and very fluffy on the inside and these are by far the nicest oven chips that I have ever eaten (I'm not usually a fan of oven chips at all!) I served these with white pitta breads and mayonnaise and it was the ultimate chips pitta. The chips are lovely and thick and all...

When the chips are down, try the credit crunch!
Advantages: Cheap tasty tortilla chips
Disadvantages: Only in lightly salted flavour
...The credit crunch has been the main item of news for a while so when shopping for a party recently in Tesco, I decided to try a bag of their Value Tortilla chips. I thought after a few glasses of wine and with some nice dips the value tortilla chips should be alright and save a few pennies.
The packet
Like all Tesco value, it is a plain clear bag with the blue stripe which has the name printed in white and the Tesco name is in red print. It is recyclable where facilities exist. It contains 100 grams and the information is given for a quarter of the packet. On the back of the packet there is the Tesco promise to replace if the standard should fall below what is expected and their address and website information.
The Ingredients
Really simple, no nasty E additives, just Maize, vegetable oil and salt! In...

CHIP Off the old Cake bars
Advantages: Low sat fat, moist and full flavour
Disadvantages: none
...Tesco Chocolate Chip Cake Bars (30g)
I thought I would write a review on this product as I thought they were very appetising and good for value cake. Ok this product has around 125 calories per cake but compared to a double chocolate muffin which is around 300 calories - shocking eh, and slightly better than a chocolate HobNob Flapjack at 159 Calories. With all this in mind I don't feel guilty munching away on one of these bars - on Weight Watchers these cakes are around 2 points.
***** The Product *****
This product is made in France for TESCO Stores Ltd and are sold globally in all there stores. They are packaged in a dark red box which measures 9 inches long x 5 inches wide, with the TESCO logo in bold White writing on the top right hand corner. There is also a picture of the cake bars on the front and the daily guidelines...

A VEGETABLE MEDLEY FROM HEAVEN......
Advantages: Packed full of vegetables, super value, filling, tastes great.
Disadvantages: None at all,but an even larger portion would be even better.
...I have to admit I adore curry, in fact I could quite happily live on it, but not the hot killer curry oh no, I like the milder versions that mean you can actually taste what’s in it and not be left with a burnt out mouth and stomach .
I have tried a variety of frozen and ready meal curries but the one that I have had recently I am very impressed with overall.
This particular curry is Tesco’s vegetable curry with rice, and before you ask no I am not a vegetarian I just like vegetable curries as well as the meatier varieties!
SO WHY IS THIS ONE SO GOOD???

Well it is a generous 400g and this includes a larger than average portion of curry, the curry is made from chunks of potato...

Vegetable Pancakes!
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...I love a burger in a bun - in fact, I love meat products in general, but I often find that I'm not eating enough vegetables . I think the big reason for this is that, in general, if I cook properly, from scratch, i'll include a lot of veg, but if I'm eating something from the freezer, I tend to go for speed and convenience, and end up microwaving some beans instead .
So, I've started switching to veggie burgers - just as quick and easy to cook, but packed with a variety of vegetables instead of meat, for an easy way to get an extra little bit of veg inside me . Dalepak was one of the first brands I tried, picking up a pack of four vegetable grills from Iceland .
They're pretty attractive to look at - cutlet shaped veggie grills, made of mashed potato with a variety of veg added in - onion, carrots, sweetcorn, broccoli, green beans...

Tesco certainly know how to interpret "mint chocolate chip"!
Advantages: Tastes luxurious, pretty enough to offer as a posh dessert
Disadvantages: Might be a bit too sugar and/or calorie heavy for some
...Some things go together perfectly - roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, syrup sponge and custard, mint and chocolate . . . it certainly worked for the people who dreamt up the after-dinner mint, and Tesco (obviously recognising a good thing when they saw it) must have decided to seize this timeless combination and use it for their own purposes.
In this particular case, that meant putting it into one of the ice creams in their own-brand range, and this particular flavour - Tesco Mintillicious - is what I would consider to be part of the supermarket's range of more upmarket ice creams, a guess I have made based on the fact that their Value Vanilla Ice Cream costs 70p for 2 litres, their Cream of Cornish is £2.14 for 2 litres and the Mintilicious one will set the buyer back £2 for a single litre. (In fairness, it's on offer at the moment so...
