Australian Red Wine (Tesco's)

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not really what you would serve to impress at a posh dinner party

...I never used to be a red wine drinker, I would have said in the past if someone had offered me a glass "no thanks". But within the past few years I have changed my mind a lot and now do enjoy red wine. THE PRODUCT: Australian Red Wine (south eastern Australia) Selected by Tesco 75 cl 13.0% vol medium and fruity cost: £2.08 Allergy advice: Contains Sulphites Availability: every Tesco supermarket I have been in MY EXPERIENCE: I first bought a bottle of this wine when we were having a barbeque in the summer, I wasn't sure what it was or what it would be like as with most people when buying for a party you tend to just buy a few bottles of a lot of things. I decided however after a few strange glances from my partner that maybe I should try this wine before forcing it on our guests. The first thing I notice was it didn...

Austrailian Red wine selected by Tesco worth a try

Advantages: Smooth
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

...Austrailian Red Wine, South Eastern Austrailia selected by Tesco. I am no connoisseur at describing wine, but I could recommend this one. My wife does not even like red wine, but even she found this one pleasant. It is as it says on the bottle "A SMOOTH, MEDIUM-BODIED RED WITH BERRY FRUIT FLAVOURS". Though perhaps being pregnant made my wife normally a non red drinker tollerate this bottle and enjoy it to some extent, and I found it nice enough to ask her to buy it again from Tesco again and I enjoyed it the second time just as much as I did the first time. Describing any kind of flavour is a difficult task for me, but with some kind of wines especially red it is easier to describe what you don't like about them, rather than what you do. The main two failings I find with quite a few red wines is some you could describe as being...

Tesco Australian Red Wine

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not something to serve at a party until everyone's drunk!

...Let's face it, you're buying this for £3.00 a bottle. However, MUCH better than some of the chemical crap (e.g. Cape Crossing Cabernet Sauvignon - chemical crap) that some producers pass off as wine in the same price band. It's somewhat acidic with very little body - but who cares at this price? It DOESN'T taste of chemicals and plastic. Better than most cheap table wines, can't go wrong with this - but make sure your guests have had a bit of the good stuff and are a bit pissed before you get the cheap one out. If you want better for your buck do a wine run to France and buy there - but not cheap French wine, it sucks (and they only sell it to stupid Brits like us!)....

Red, red (and white, and rose) wine

Advantages: Funny, touching
Disadvantages: Takes ages to get going

...Jack is about to get married and goes on a week long bachelor party to California's wine country with his best friend Miles. Jack is a womaniser, despite his imminent marriage, and has every intention of getting laid at every available opportunity. Miles is a failed author with a failed marriage behind him to book, and just wants to play golf and get drunk on good wine. Soon they meet two women, Stephanie, who falls for Jack, and Maya, who is obviously fond of Miles. Jack and Stephanie are soon having a frantic carnal relationship, but Miles and Maya have a much more cerebral relationship which looks as though it is going to end in love. Will Stephanie find out about Jack's marriage? Will Miles and Maya end up together? Paul Giamatti plays Miles and is absolutely perfect for the role. Giamatti is not the standard good-looking Hollywood...

Roses are Red....

Advantages: Beautiful flowers, wonderful variety
Disadvantages: Take a lot of care

...As part of my review into roses, I plan to review the main areas of rose growing in detail. The areas that I will cover are, how to design gardens to incorporate roses, the preparation of the soil and the physical planting of roses and the routine care required for rose growing. Unfortunately, I think this may be quite a long review, as I have so much to say about them! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- DESIGNING WITH ROSES -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The beauty of the rose family is that it doesn't matter whether you choose old garden roses, for their gracious growing habit, foliage and scent, or whether you choose to grow modern roses for their very long flowering season or their fantastic blooms, the massive diversity of the rose family means...

Diamond review  Working for Tesco

Advantages: Good pay, great benefits package
Disadvantages: Crap uniform, crap managers

...Ok, first of all, I'd just like to mention, this is a looooooooooooong review, so if you're not actually interested in reading about Tesco as an employer, then I'd suggest you don't bother as it will take some patience to get through! When I left school at the age of 18, and having decided I couldn't be bothered with university, I suddenly had to face the big bad world and go and find myself a job. I wasn't really fussy about what job I did - I've never been ambitious, and simply wanted a job where I could go to work, do my job, come home and not have to think about it. As our local Tesco is just 5 minutes away, I decided to apply there. I wrote a letter requesting an application form, and a few days later received a lovely letter and the form I had asked for. I read through the form and thought, wow, I don't know how to answer...

Tesco trains

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: As good as original brands

...Santa bought my four year old the lovely mountain train set made by tesco. He desperately wanted a train set and when we were in Toysrus we would look at the brio sets and then look around the other toys. It was not unitl near to Christmas that I actually decided to look at the price. I was horrified to discover how expensive brio train sets were. I looked in several other shops ELC etc but they too were too expensive. I found a cheap set in ASDA but it did not seem to be compatabile with brio or even near to the quality, so I decided not to buy the train set from there either. When we were shopping in Tescos my son pointed out the train sets and took a real interest in a lovely mpuntain train set which had had a wooden train set, a little bridge, wooden animals, trees, tunnels, trains, carriages, sign and mountains all for £24...

Not quite a bunch of roses : Cadbury's Roses

Advantages: Nice chocolate, a couple of good fillings
Disadvantages: Lack of variety of fillings, lots of old flavours are now missing

...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was feeling a bit sorry for myself the other day (no specific reason why - just one of those days), and when in that frame of mind, there is only one thing which can ride me through until a better mood is upon me.......chocolate! While in Morrisons, I looked all through the usual offerings of things like Kit-Kats, Bounty Bars, Maltesers etc., but none of them seemed to appeal to me. Then, my eyes rested on a wire trolley-load of boxes of Cadbury's Roses, on special offer, at £1.99. My eyes kind of lit up, my spirits lifted slightly, and I dumped one of the boxes in my trolley. I actually forgot I'd bought them until I got home and unpacked the shopping. Now, I don't trust myself with this amount of chocolates, especially if I'm using them as comfort food, as I can be in danger of eating the whole box all at once - so, I divided...

Diamond review  A Day to Remember

Advantages: Very easy to drink.
Disadvantages: Very easy to drink.

...I can honestly say that I will never forget the day I first tasted this wine. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, right at the end of August 1996 and I was standing in a beautiful garden high up on the edge of Ilkley Moor. Unusually for me I was wearing a swirly pink dress which, quite unintentionally, matched the glass of wine which my son-in-law pressed into my hand. Unless it?s a very superior champagne, with that wonderful deep biscuity taste, I?m not usually a great fan of sparkling wines. A lot of the cheap ones are so harsh they remind me of paint stripper, so when I was told that this was a Méthode Traditionnelle wine from New Zealand, I was, well, sceptical to say the least. Still, it had been a long day, the sun was shining and condensation was forming on the outside of the glass. The wine is just on the golden side...

Tescos

Advantages: Great Value
Disadvantages: Puts local businesses under stress

...Tescos is King of all supermarkets and I think that they are best for value in the long term or in the big shop as well. As a student I have found that the tesco down the road from me is my new home, as opposed to the Centre up the road that can be so expensive some times in comparison. Tescos sells your average grocerys as well as dvd's and electricals, clothes, office supplies, tobacco and confectionary, alcohol, cards for special occassions and toys. Everything you need seems to almost be in one store, there is also a tesco value line that provides Tescos own products at a cheaper price. The staff in Tescos are always friendly where I come from in Cookstown, they always help you find something if your not quite sure where it is and always strike up a pleasant conversation at the help desk, though I understand that some...
