Float Away With White Cloud Wine!!
Advantages: Tastes amazing, not too expensive and it's alcohol!
Disadvantages: Drinking too much results in silly behaviour and possibly hangover next day!
...supermarkets and most off-licenses (Victoria Wine/Thresher and Odd bins stock it).
I recently bought a case of 6 from Tesco's for £27.30 ( which is £4.55 per bottle). Not that I intend to consume them in one go (ahem!) I'm sticking to my story anyway that it's more cost effective to do so!!
Storage instructions
**********************
White wines don't last long - this one should only be stored for a maximum of 2 years (and only chill it shortly before opening and keep it on ice once opened).
Which year should I choose?
********************************
The 2002 bottle is fantastic (for those who may not be aware, the year dentotes the year the grapes used were harvested) but each year is of a very high standard - so don't panic if you can't locate that particular year.
Alcohol Content

Australian Red Wine (Tesco's)
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not really what you would serve to impress at a posh dinner party
...I never used to be a red wine drinker, I would have said in the past if someone had offered me a glass "no thanks". But within the past few years I have changed my mind a lot and now do enjoy red wine.
THE PRODUCT:
Australian Red Wine (south eastern Australia) Selected by Tesco
75 cl
13.0% vol
medium and fruity
cost: £2.08
Allergy advice: Contains Sulphites
Availability: every Tesco supermarket I have been in
MY EXPERIENCE:
I first bought a bottle of this wine when we were having a barbeque in the summer, I wasn't sure what it was or what it would be like as with most people when buying for a party you tend to just buy a few bottles of a lot of things.
I decided however after a few strange glances from my partner that maybe I should try this wine before forcing it on our guests. The first thing I notice was it didn...

Muscadet White Wine
Advantages: looks posher than a lemonade bottle
Disadvantages: not as tasty as lemonade
...Cost: £4.99
Volume: 750ml
Place of Purchase: Tesco
Summer is an occassion in itself if you are british. And as many people do - we celebrate it with a toast of wine to accompany every given meal time. Okay, perhaps with the exception of breakfast - wine and special K = not great....
I don't normally have a spread of wine to offer as my other half and I are usually proud lemonade drinkers. My mother makes some of the best homemade lemonade every and it's perhaps was has prevented me from developing that 'aquired' taste for wine. However our newest circle of friends appear to be fish - only the rare type that can only survive in wine. So as a guesture I have stocked up on a range of white and red wines to offer when they visit.
I chose this bottle from Tescos as the name Muscadet sounded fancy and I liked the bottle shape...

Austrailian Red wine selected by Tesco worth a try
Advantages: Smooth
Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...Austrailian Red Wine, South Eastern Austrailia selected by Tesco.
I am no connoisseur at describing wine, but I could recommend this one. My wife does not even like red wine, but even she found this one pleasant. It is as it says on the bottle "A SMOOTH, MEDIUM-BODIED RED WITH BERRY FRUIT FLAVOURS". Though perhaps being pregnant made my wife normally a non red drinker tollerate this bottle and enjoy it to some extent, and I found it nice enough to ask her to buy it again from Tesco again and I enjoyed it the second time just as much as I did the first time.
Describing any kind of flavour is a difficult task for me, but with some kind of wines especially red it is easier to describe what you don't like about them, rather than what you do. The main two failings I find with quite a few red wines is some you could describe as being...

Tesco Australian Red Wine
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not something to serve at a party until everyone's drunk!
...Let's face it, you're buying this for £3.00 a bottle.
However, MUCH better than some of the chemical crap (e.g. Cape Crossing Cabernet Sauvignon - chemical crap) that some producers pass off as wine in the same price band.
It's somewhat acidic with very little body - but who cares at this price? It DOESN'T taste of chemicals and plastic.
Better than most cheap table wines, can't go wrong with this - but make sure your guests have had a bit of the good stuff and are a bit pissed before you get the cheap one out.
If you want better for your buck do a wine run to France and buy there - but not cheap French wine, it sucks (and they only sell it to stupid Brits like us!)....

Blushing white wine
Advantages: cheap, fruity, light
Disadvantages: weak, low in alcohol
...Sutter home white is a Californian wine that is very popular in US and UK. It is the kind of wine that suits most tastes.
It is widely available in supermarkets and off licenses in UK.
I bought mine in our local co-op wine shop. It cost just 4.99 and I thought it was excellent value as a table wine.
Don't be misled by the colour, or the name. This white wine is a rose, so it's a very pale pink blush to it.
The alcohol content of this wine is just 9.5%, so it is not very strong compared to a full bodied French Burgundy at 13.5%. This is fine if you just want a table wine but might not suit those who want to 'have a party'.
The flavour is light, refreshing and fruity and it's the sort of wine that you can drink at the table, or just to relax with friends.
I prefer mine chilled but strictly speaking a rose wine...

FAIR DINKUM, IT'S MINGING
Advantages: It's cheap
Disadvantages: It's horrible!
...Oh Wow!! As many of you who know me and my opinions by now you will have realised that I like my alcohol, and wine in particular. Part of my extensive research for the likes of Ciao and its readers involves the arduous testing of many different wines.
It?s not often I am truly disgusted and find something bad to say as many of my choices, though I say it myself, have been very good and pleasurable. Having said that this time I seem to have picked a real minger of a wine!
I picked up a bottle of Tesco Australian White wine the other day whilst shopping for a few bits and pieces. A standard 75cl bottle was £2.99 with a further 20% off at the till on this occasion making it cost a total of about £2.40 ? maybe that should have been a warning?! There is cheap wine and then there is CHEAP wine! I have been able to buy many wines...

Whine, whine and mmmmmm Wine !!
Advantages: Easy to drink with nearly anything
Disadvantages: One bottle is not enough !
...thanks for it (even though it is the best one you have cooked) !!
Well this is a typical day for me and I like to unwind by packing son of to bed with a good book, banishing partner to the pub (hope they get a lock in) and locking the cat flap so the cat cannot get in !!! I then take a bottle of nicely chilled wine out of the fridge, uncork it and......aaahhhhhhhhh reeelax !!!!
I do NOT profess to be a wine buff, however I do like my wine, in particular the cheaper brands. This is probably because my own palate is not honed to appreciate the finer wines (neither is my pocket). Over the years I have discovered that Californian and Australian white wines are preferable for me and my latest discovery is 'Echo Falls Californian White'. I have decided to write this after only 2 glasses, as , if I wait until after the 2nd bottle it would...

Tesco Value Bread
Advantages: very cheap, ok if you are on a serious budget
Disadvantages: goes mouldy quickly, not very tasty
...Bread. One of the nations staple foods, and certainly one of my favourites. There is so much you can do with bread, from bread and butter pudding, to sandwiches and toast, to dippy soldiers and croutons.
Most people eat bread most days of the week and if it is made the right way with the right kind of flour it can be very healthy for you.
Bread these days somes in all manner of shapes and sizes, flavours and colours and will a whole range of toppings and additions such as sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts, fruit... the list goes on.
.... not Tesco Value bread!
The Cost
***********
As you would expect, Tesco Value bread is cheap. Very cheap! Currently it is 23p per 800g loaf in my local Tesco store. Whereas most high quality loaves cost in excess of 85p for the same sized loaf you would be forgiven for thinking that...
