...I have been working on the RNLI stall on Llandudno seafront on Sundays during the summer selling lifeboat souvenirs and as the stall was open from 8am until 6pm I needed some food and drink to take with me that wouldn?t ruin my diet which is still going well if a little slowly at the moment. When I was shopping in Tesco?s I looked at the cereal bars to choose a couple of packets of the ones which were relatively low in calories and sugar. I chose three different boxes so that I could take a mixture of flavours and they would last two or three weeks. Tesco Wheat Biscuits - Why Pay More???

Advantages: A cheap breakfast option.
Disadvantages: None

...'t understand why anyone would want to pay more. Calorie wise they contain 190 calories per serving ( which is two biscuits with 125ml of semi-skimmed milk). Fat is 2.8g ( of which 1.5g is saturated), which I assume comes mostly from the milk. It is also fortified with numerous vitamins and is of course a good source of fibre. With some brands you can notice a drop in quality - but not with this cereal - it is every bit as good and I will be buying them again. I like them because I think they offer a reasonably healthy start to the day and to say this is one of your main meals, it only contains 7% of the recommended salt intake too. My quest for a cereal bar...

Advantages: Tastes nice
Disadvantages: Quite high fat, not too filling

...I've recently found myself in the routine of buying a chocolate bar when I take the kids to school to eat in front of the computer when I get home, convincing myself it was ok as I don't eat breakfast. Not the healthiest option I know, so I've set myself a challenge to find a tasty but 'better for me' alternative to a Whole Nut. :o( This morning I've decided to go for an Alpen bar. A strawberry Alpen bar. Upon choosing this tasty looking bar I realise my challenge may well last just a day as in our local shop there are rows and rows of chocolate bars and crisps and the grand total of 3 different cereal bars! ...-go I'm afraid! It may also contain traces of nuts and seeds?beware! Cereal bars are quite practical things to have around the house. Of course, there's the benefit that you can grab one quickly in the morning if you sleep in and don't have time for a proper breakfast (though I'd struggle to ditch that bowl of weetabix calling out to me!). They provide a good, healthy snack too. I know Primary schools such as my brother's have been sending out letters asking parents not to pack biscuits and sweets, so this would be a good alternative but will still provide them with a sweet and satisfying treat. Going on a picnic this summer? Pack one or two of these with you. You'll get an instant boost of energy when you eat one, and you'll feel quite full too after eating it (but thankfully not bloated or 'stuffed') so you wont be tempted to over...

Tesco Value Wheat Biscuits (wheetabix) - cheap and nasty

Advantages: Very cheap, not unhealthy
Disadvantages: Poor taste and texture, small biscuits that disintergrate easily

...The value range at Tesco is normally full of very cheap, but decent products in boring / cheap looking package. As a university student, I am always looking for ways to save money, and would never snub a Tesco Value product on branding alone. I have tried many Tesco Value products and most recently Tesco Value Wheat Biscuits, which are obviously the Tesco Value version of Wheetabix. Description At 75p for 36 biscuits (only 2p per biscuit!),it looks to be amazing value, so I picked up a box.
