Spreads like butter..

Advantages: Stops stretch marks in pregnancy
Disadvantages: None

...When I fell pregnant last year, everyone kept telling me I must moisturise my belly to keep stretch marks at bay. So I went to Boots and found this fabulous cream by Palmers in their Cocoa Butter Formula range which is designed specifically for the prevention of stretchmarks for pregnant women. You can't fail to miss it as the tube comes in a box with the Palmers trademark orange and brown sign and there is a outline of a pregnant woman on the front in a orange background. See their website www.palmerscocoabutter.com. I bought it for around £3:99 for a boxed tube which is a little pricey, but was willing to pay this as I was desperate not to get any marks as I grew bigger over the 9 months. I started this cream from month 1. This cream is described as a massage cream which contains a combination of Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E...

The Man Who Has Plenty of GOOD Peanut Butter . . .

Advantages: Cheap, no artificial additives, makes good peanut butter candy [RECIPE INCLUDED!].
Disadvantages: Only 87% roasted peanut (3% < USA standard minimum), slightly oily, peanut pieces a bit large

...the spread). The addition of a sliced banana or jam can make the peanut butter easier to swallow (did you ever get peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth?). For my grandchildren (under 10 years old) I would tend to go for a SMOOTH peanut butter. You can get Tesco, Morrison, Asda, Somerfield or Sainsbury's own brand 340g (12oz) jar for about £1 or less. Tesco's standard is very similar to SunPat but cheaper. I used to get a "No Frills SMOOTH Peanut Butter 454g 1 lb jar" for less than £1 at Kwik Save (now mostly converted to Somerfield stores and selling at a higher price). My personal preference is for crunchy peanut butters, and I have been impressed that BOTH of the cheapest peanut butters I have bought lately have been crunchy by default. ASDA "Smart Price" and TESCO "VALUE" peanut butter both retail at about 69p per 340g...

Serve Warm With Butter And Jam.

Advantages: A great start to the day.
Disadvantages: High in fats and saturates

...the day along with butter and jam. Just pre heat the oven and then pop the croissants in to warm for a couple of minutes, the end result is delicious. Even when the croissants are cold they have a certain allure attached to them, the way the dough has been rolled gives them a good finish and as they have been cooked and the dough has browned they suddenly become even more attractive. If the recipe is right then you will be able to smell the butter as you lift them out of the oven. Make sure you have the teaplate, butter and jam or preserve to hand before you are ready to serve them. The minute that the warm croissants hit the plate then spread them with thick creamy butter and put a spoonful of jam on the top. The Tesco mini croissants are equally as good as any others I have ever come across ? barring the bakery specials. The texture is...

Tesco Value That Wont Break The Bank

Advantages: Really Tasty
Disadvantages: Can Be Sickly

...I was shopping in my local Tesco recently which had just undergone a total refurbishment. While browsing I discovered an entire aisle dedicated to their "value" range of products. I was actually quite amazed at the number of basic everyday essentials that they sold. Usually these products can be found underneath their more expensive counterparts and up to this point I have to say a lot of them had gone unnoticed by myself over the years. I purchased a few of these items and it is these that I will be reviewing over the next few weeks or so. We are huge fans of peanut butter in our household. In fact if I don't have a jar somewhere there is usually an outcry. I certainly don't mind buying it for my son either. Well there are much worse things that I could be giving him on his sandwiches!!! On this occasion I decided to try a jar...

Butter me up, spread it all over me!

Advantages: Cheap, lives up to its claims, smells edible
Disadvantages: Uninviting packaging, slightly greasy after application

...occurred to me that it might be half decent. I thought it would be one of those cheap products that you buy, use once, realise you have wasted a few more pounds and put it to the back of the cupboard never to be used again. This all changed when my sister (as much of a brand name snob as me!) introduced me to it. She said ?try it. It?s really good even though the tub looks a bit crap.? So I did and I have to put my hands up and admit I was totally wrong, and subsequently purchased one of my own the very next day. COLOUR AND TEXTURE No, it?s not brown! It is quite a rich golden/yellow colour, much like normal butter. The colour is not offputting in the slightest, in fact I quite like it. The texture depends on the temperature of the place where you store it. At normal room temperature it is soft and easily spreadable. When it is...

B(UTTERLY) YUMMY FLORA SPREAD

Advantages: NICE TASTE
Disadvantages: NOT THE LOWEST FAT CONTENT AVAILABLE

...I used to buy real butter but in a bid to eat healthier, I decided last year to switch to a "spread" and have, since then, been searching in vain for one that has a half decent buttery taste. And at last I have found it! I have tried endless spreads and margarines and really didn't like the false, almost "plasticy" taste that most of them had. I can honestly say that I do not find the taste of flora buttery spread to be anything other than delicious and satisfying. (particularly on hot crumpets or toast) :-D. A 500g pack of flora buttery was on offer recently at one of my local shops at the bargain price of 60p!! I have since been back to purchase more as this is almost half price compared to what it usually costs! As the pack can be frozen, I figured I had nothing to lose by creating a bit of a stockpile, as it wouldn...

Yummy peanut butter !

Advantages: Tastes delicious.
Disadvantages: High in fat.

...did , it is a nice brown tan colour , and you can notice the peanuts inside . You also get a lovely smell of peanuts yum. ~ The taste test ~ I didn,t tell my children i had bought a different brand instead of sunpat, i just did them a sandwich of it to see if they could tell the difference. They enjoyed them obviously didn,t notice any difference , the apperance and taste is the same as a more expensive peanut butter . No much else you can say about the taste apart from it tastes like peanuts and is very nice , spreads well on sandwiches and toast . ~ Nutrition information ~ This is per tablespoon. 95 calories 7.6g fat As its high in fat even though i like it i won,t be having it too often. ~ so will i buy it again ? ~ Yes i think it is worth the money and if it didn,t have tesco value on the jar, you wouldn...

Tescos Finest All Butter Croissants

Advantages: Georgous
Disadvantages: Costly

...TESCO FINEST ALL BUTTER CROISSANTS It was another boring day, and I was yet again, being dragged around our local Tesco with my mum and two moaning little brothers. I was beginning to get extremely bored, trailing up and down the washing powder aisles and being told to go and fetch boring products such as Tesco Finest Broccoli and tinned peaches. My dowdy facial expression changed however, when we took a U-Turn with our trolley and headed down the bakery aisle. Immediately I was a lot more cheery and I couldn't wait to choose something to put in our trolley. You see on the occasion my mum takes us down the bakery/patisserie aisle in the supermarket, she allows me and my two little brothers to choose a product each and through it in the trolley. Now today I wasn't in the mood for my usual custard or caramel doughnuts, and after...

Tesco cocoa butter body lotion,

Advantages: works just as well as more expensive brands
Disadvantages: could smell stronger

...I have always been a big fan of the palmers cocoa butter range as they work a treat and they smell fantastic. I tried the tesco one as it was on special offer, buy one get one free, and it was also much cheaper than the palmers one. When I first applied it, I was a bit put off by the runny consistency of it, I had been so used to the thickness of the palmers one, I thought it had to be thick in order to work. I was wrong, this product was thin but it worked just as well as the more expensive ones and the expensive ones run out quicker as you have to use so much because they are so thick. It didn't smell quite as strong as the more expensive one, but it did absorb a lot better and there was no greasy residue. I have very dry skin and so I use moisturiser everyday, this is perfect as it works just as well as any other expensive...

Can you tell Stork from Butter!

Advantages: Great for cooking cakes and pastry
Disadvantages: Doesn't taste like butter.

..., so I would say a good quality plastic which is recyclable. The easy to measure markings are in 250g on one side and 4oz. on the other. On opening you can see the slightly deeper golden margarine than the hard block, which has been measured into the tub by a squirty type machine as it has a swirled pattern, which is nice and smooth on top. There is a faint smell of margarine here when I sniff, taste? Again I'm not keen, I prefer butter on my scones and bread or an olive spread! Stork for me says a baking product, and although the old advert says 7 out of 10 people can't tell Stork from butter, I'm one of the odd 3 people! It lacks the flavour of butter, rather tasteless, I prefer some of the olive products, but I know some people who do prefer it! The use by date on the tub is 07.04.07. There are fewer calories in the tub - 53 per 10g...
