TI-83 Great Calculator
Advantages: Easy to use and very powerfull
Disadvantages: Can't intigrate or differentiate
...I've been using this calculator for the last six years now and it is my favorite model of all Texas instrument calculators.
Capabilities:
This model is capable of Trig, statistics, multifunction graphing and there are a ton of online programs that can be downloaded to assist in higher level math. In addition literally hundreds of games have been made specifically for the TI-83 model. Functions, Parametric equations, Polar equations, and Sequences can all be graphed using this model. You can also create new executable programs either on the calculator itself or on a computer. The calculator comes with a usb transfer cord so anything created or found via the computer can be easily transferred to the device.
Layout:
Everything in the TI-83 starts at the home screen, which is blank ready for input of instructions. The 83 does lack...

Ti-83 addiction
Advantages: Does anything you could ask it to.
Disadvantages: You forget how to do even the most basic maths without it.
...The MUST HAVE scientific and graphing calculator in terms of functionality. Having done the International Baccalaureate, my TI-83 was an integral part of my life. Insanely difficult to learn how to use simply because it does so much, once you do learn a few tricks with it you're set to do even the most complex calculations in the blink of an eye, assuming you actually know what you're trying to solve.
Being a graphing calculator, it does have a relatively large screen, but in the TI-83 this is only about 6 by 4cm. Still that certainly is good enough to see whether your data forms a curve or a straight line. Changing the window on your graphs (i.e. the X and Y scales) is dead easy using the aptly named "Window" button. But that's absolutely nothing. With a bit of manual reading (if you can bear the weight of the massive manual) you...

More than just a calculator
Advantages: good handbook, huge RAM and ROM
Disadvantages: pricey
...As I'm studying Computer Science / Computer Engineering, I (unfortunately) have to deal with Maths on a nearly daily basis. We are not allowed to use any calculators in the four Maths exams (neither in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Hardware Engineering?) but for home use I wanted to buy myself a calculator to a) control my results (nothing is more annoying than calculating and calculating over several pages and then having to find out that there's a mistake in first few lines) and to b) get a result quickly when I don't have my laptop with my beloved math software around.
After some thinking I decided to get the Texas Instrument (TI) Voyage 200 as I've always been very happy with my TI calculators in the past.

Southside-Texas
Advantages: Tuneful, classic pop-rock,best of the 90s.Lyrically,musically and vocally chairming and catchy
Disadvantages: If you dont like pop/rock then you might not enjoy this blast from the past.
...Right so today I am really on one with bands/albums ranging from the mid 80s to the late 90s and seeing as I am, what sort of reviewer would I be if I didn't at least give a quick mention to Texas?
Southside by Texas is one of their most acclaimed albums. Released in 1995 with timeless classics like 'I dont want a lover', the album still rings true with audiences today.
Although they have taken their name from an american state, they are essentially a Scottish pop/rock band. Their music does seem to adopt some of the texan stealy guitar sound and although singer and rhythm guiatris Sharleen Spiter has a lovely Scottish accent, she sings with an american accent (which is a shame but common of the era).
This album has some really great pop songs, I dont Want a Lover being one of many. The overal quality of the vocals is really...

Casio fx-83EX is a great school calculator!
Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review
...will be some useful functions on these type of calculators (like solving quadratic equation and drawing out graph transformations etc.) that you cannot do on the Casio fx-83EX. But even now, at university, i still keep this calculator as it is so easy to use and has useful functions that you sometimes don't even get on the very expensive calculators!
I would definitely recommend this product!
Another last note is to say that to be honest, you don't even need to bother with the instruction manual as it is so simple to use and it is a commonly used calculator in schools so the teachers are bound to know how to do everything!...

Paris, Texas : Surely the most quietly powerful film ever made
Advantages: Quiet, thought-provoking, sensitive, tasteful, gently emotive
Disadvantages: For me, none at all but for some people it may take a bit of getting into
...RELEASED: 1984
RUNNING TIME: 147 mins
DIRECTOR: Wim Wenders
MAIN CAST:
Travis (Harry Dean-Stanton)
Walt (Dean Stockwell)
Hunter (Hunter Carson)
Jane (Nastassja Kinski)
Anne (Aurore Clement)
I first watched Paris Texas back in 1986, on its British TV premier as part of the Channel IV ?Film On Four? series, and from the very first frame of Travis (Harry Dean-Stanton) walking alone in the searing sun through the desert, my attention was captured. My eyes didn't leave the TV screen for one single second throughout the film, as I was totally and utterly engrossed.
Travis is a man who has somehow estranged himself from his family. A doctor at a desert outpost clinic discovers Travis when he collapses after entering the place and had fainted whilst attempting to eat piles of ice cubes. The doctor manages to contact...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Advantages: Ed Gein Documentary DVD extra
Disadvantages: Only moderately scarry
...So Hallowe'en night, the obligatory somewhat pathetic partying has ended it's about 1o'clock in the morning so decide to put this on and live the Hallowe'en atmosphere.
THE STORY
It's 1973 and the film starts with a filmed walk through of the crime scene of the Chainsaw Massacre and before it can really get started we are thrown towards the past and 5 young people coming back from partying in Mexico to go see a Lynrd Skynrd concert somewhere in Texas, when suddenly they meet a young female hitch hiker who keeps crying and is more than abit erratic. They pick her up and start driving in the direction she came from which made little sense to me but hey. She starts screaming your going the wrong way (why did they pick her up if they weren't going to go her way? Why?). She then gets over excited pulls a gun from the heer groin...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Advantages: Scary from the beginning
Disadvantages: The cute guy dies!
...The Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows a group of teenagers taking a road trip through Texas in the 70's. However, when they come across a young woman walking along a deserted road and pick her up, they soon realise something is wrong with her. Not long after, she shoots herself, leaving the group scared and confused to say the least, but little do they realise, their ordeal has only just begun.
Coming across an isolated house seeking help, the group think they have found help, but they have actually just walked into a massacre scene. One by one, the youths suffer horrendous deaths in this gruesome remake of the classic horror movie that was origionally banned from cinema in the 70s.
I absolutely loved this film, it was a true horror story that was well acted by a young cast. This film had some of the most brutal death scenes i have...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Advantages: Visually impressive.
Disadvantages: Not scary, gory for the sake of it, dull characters.
...Tim Burton has a lot to answer for. Even since his poor, but finanically successful "re-imagining" of Planet Of The Apes, it seems Hollywood is falling over itself to produce as many "new" films using the names of classic ones, but little else. Few of these films have much in common with the original films, aside from an ability to trade off of an already established name. Unfortunately, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is little different.
I suppose I should point out that I'm not particularly a fan of the original film, so this is a hardly going to be a "they changed all these things and ruined it" type rant. The overwhealming feeling I felt through the film was one of sheer boredom. There was absolutely nothing within the film that I hadn't seen elsewhere. The film plays as some mutated hybrid of the original Massacre film...
