While installing the OS / Driver software for the newly built computer, I got the chance to assemble and try out the Neovo F 17 model flat screen TFT monitor. Having only used CRT's in my lifetime, I was unsure of what to expect with this flat screened TFT model prior to opening its box. Old design hides great new features

Advantages: Huge, High res display. Very quick, great processor, ram, high capacity HDD

I had heard that apple had been prepping a redesign to the MacBook pro line for some time, and had held off on purchasing my new macbook pro until this happened. Sadly, the updates came, and the 17 inch top end model was not part of the refresh. The cool new unibody macbook pro's are limited to the 15 inch model. I agonised over the choice for some time, the new 15 inch MBP's are so impressive, but eventually, screen real estate won out, and I brought the older design 17 inch model. I have to say, I am not disappointed. The computer is a replacement for my old 17 inch PowerBook G4, which was itself no slouch...

Bargain Flatscreen, Premier Quality

...I've had this monitor a few months now, so feel qualified to write an opinion about it. I'm not sure why I chose to purchase a flatscreen - I'm highly suspicious of them in general. The hype about 'dead pixels', awful viewing angles, slow updates and washed out colours put me off. I used to be of the opinion that a good old fashioned FST (flatter, squarer tube) monitor would do me fine. My old monitor had been a 15 inch Daewoo that had served me well for a long time, but was becoming very, very dark and hard to use in games. I inherited an old 17 inch that had a broken base, but was otherwise working fine. I guess it was the broken base that was the problem. I was resting it on a spare desktop case but I wanted more desk space to clutter up. So, when at a computer fair, I saw a flatscreen for 195 pounds I couldn't resist...

17 INCHES OF TFT GENIUS

IMAGE SIZE IN RELATION TO TUBE SIZE I?m taking this section to be in relation to the same size monitor in a CRT range. The image is just the same size, perfect replication. However you do benefit from having a flat screen which gets rid of the distortion seen on a standard monitor making for a much clearer and crisper picture. COLOUR SENSITIVITY Running on Windows XP the colours are really bright but without getting a blur. Like the ?Start? button with it?s bright colours but the windows logo on the button is just so clear, as is everything. When playing back a DVD or film clip you can really see all the colours. I'm not into gaming at all so I was after a simple TFT monitor with a large screen without paying anything more than £150. I shopped around for no more than half an hour before I found Misco on the Internet and was instantly keen on this model and its price. The item was shipped out the next working day and the following day I received the monitor and was not disappointed. The monitor was packaged well and was very easy to install (using the power and analogue signal cables to link the PC to the monitor) and it was up and running.
