...It is such a shame, we do not have a local T.G.I. Friday's where we live. It is a little under an hour's drive to the one on Fowler, in Tampa. I have been wanting to go to this one for quite awhile. Whenever we have a layover in an airport, I always check to see if there is a T.G.I. Friday's restaurant. Most times we have been lucky. With all the bustle of a busy airport, we have always been lucky enough to get great food and excellent service. I really do go out of my way to eat at this chain of restaurants. A while back we went to Busch Gardens, in the morning. By the time we left it was almost 2pm. We were both hungry, and I knew if we went the back way home, we would pass a T.G.I. Friday's. ...American Restaurants in the UK really do not appeal to me but when the location for a girly meal out was decided TGI Fridays was the chosen destination, living in North Wales the closest location for me was in Ellesmere Port just off the M53 so was just a 20 minute drive from my home. Normally I would go online and look at the menu beforehand but last week I really did not have the time and as it was well over 2 years since my last visit it was likely to have changed. We made a reservation for 7.30 pm for our table of 7 and we did arrive a little late so our table was ready and waiting for us, we were shown over to our table and our waiter introduced himself whilst handing out the menu's, this is typical of the way you are served in American Restaurants where they greet you with their name and advise that they are there to attend... ...the bill arrived we found ourselves charged £1.70 for something, which in the overall scope of things, waiting an hour, gettting cold, tasteless and filthy food was a massive overcharging. We paid the £1.70 as an escape fee, being grateful just to get out. We hoped that would be an end of it but for the next few days, stomach pains and cramps reminded us of our TGI experience. If you like hanging around for an hour and have only one tastebud and contagion is your thing, this is the place for you. Personally, I would rather forage in dumpsters. TGI? Nein danke.... .....because there's a lot of tempting goodies in there and a comfortable atmosphere. OK, let's set the scene, it was my boyfriend's birthday and we decided a meal out would be nice but, both of us being in the not-too-well-off stakes and neither of us being restuarant connoisseurs, we couldn't think where to go. Originally, as pizza fanatics, we thought about Pizza Hut but on our way there we realised it appeared to be a non-smoking eaterie, and, both of us being smokers, we wanted somewhere we could relax, take our time, have a smoke and afford to leave without doing the washing up. ...It was Saturday, my other half and I decided we would go out for an evening meal at the last minute, Pizza Hut sounded like a good idea, we hadn’t booked. When we got to Pizza Hut there was a massive queue of people in the lobby waiting to be seated. TGI Fridays was opposite and we knew it had a bar. Hmmm, wait to be seated whilst standing in a lobby, or wait to be seated in a bar, it was a tough decision. Inside TGI Fridays a member of staff greeted us at the door. We asked for a table for two, they told us it would be twenty minutes if we would like to go and wait at the bar. But first we had to think up a celebrity name, which they would call out over the tannoy when our table was ready. ...I had never been to TGI Friday's before I went with my boyfriend last Saturday, but I was looking forward to it as everyone else I know has been there and I kept hearing how good it was supposed to be. When we arrived we were seated very quickly and everything seemed promising. The atmosphere was great with the photos and film memrobelia on the walls, one of the barmen was doing that thing with the cocktail shakers where they throw them in the air and catch them behind your back type of moves. Upon reading the menus I did think that the choice was very minimal although they had steak which was fine by me, along all sorts of mexican food (which I didn't scan for long as it's not really for me) and chicken (which my boyfriend had). ...Most people would enjoy going out for a meal to restaurants such as TGI Fridays, but at the prices they charge one feels gobsmacked that there is not 1 main course costing under 8.00. Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is great for eveyone except for an 11 yr old boy like me WHO IS GIVEN CRAYONS TO COLOUR IN AND A CHILDREN'S MENU. Never in all my life have I been so patronized and annoyed but I'll stop ranting because this is personal and of no significance to others(except atticbadger who was with me at the time). The staff wear silly hats and come swaggering along like they don't care(which they probably don't)and then con you into buying a burger which one can get at McDonald's for 1/10 of the price(they are in a totally different class mind) which one then has to wait 25 minutes minimum for. ...(I will try to make this review shorter LOL). Each month I am given a challenge, and this month, it was no different from the others. I was challenged to dine out at another restaurant with the family. ...Introduction ~~ Just imagine it, sitting in 50’s American diner style seats – a meaty but tender cheeseburger in front of you and a huge glass of Coke next to your cheeseburger. And whilst you are eating you are surrounded by American décor; a large metal Route 66 flag to your left, the stars and stripes to your right and big flashing traffic lights in front of you. And to top all that off a friendly and helpful waitress who even goes to the effort of doing a superb American accent. Well you can get all of that without catching a plane across the pond to the big country at TGI Fridays. Okay, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but TGI Fridays offers good quality American food with superb service in a casual and relaxing environment. ...It was my Mum and Dads and mine and Barry's wedding anniversary on Tuesday so we decided to treat ourselves and go out for a meal at TGI Fridays. For those of you who don't know TGI Fridays is an American style restaurant, the first TGI Friday's restaurant opened on Manhattan's upper East Side in 1965. TGI Friday's celebrated its' 21st birthday with the opening of its first UK restaurant in Birmingham's Hagley Road in 1986 and there are now several TGI Friday's Restaurants throughout the UK. On arrival at the restaurant we were shown to our table - as there were 5 of us, (our son came along too as we didn't have a babysitter), we were shown to a round table that comfortably seated up to 6 people.
