...Thai Siam was our choice of eatery recently after an early evening excursion to the theatre. It was a wet, miserable evening but the welcome was warm and the atmosphere cosy. Situated in the West End of Glasgow at 1191 Argyle Street, Thai Siam is unimpressive from the outside, just another building in a row of shops with a neon sign. However the interior is modern and tastefully decorated. The restaurant seats approximately 60 on decent sized tables. There is the obligatory fish tank, a small bar area and the walls are sparsely decorated with large prints and three-dimensional textured pictures of Buddha. ...On my last trip to Bangkok I took a seat upon a British Airways flight, the experience wasn't a good one and I swore I wouldn't use them again for this kind of long haul flight unless it was absolutely necessary. This time around I picked Thai Airways, a brief search on the net came back with some favourable opinions on the airline and the price was comparable considering it was a direct flight. Yes I could have saved a few quid by going non-direct but the money you'd save is not worth the hassle of waiting around. ...All good things come in light and small packages. This is what I've found in these revolutionary snack bites. A few saturdays ago the family and I were invited to lunch with friends. After a delicious pasta followed by fruit and cream,Julie the wife of our host brought out a very interesting alternative to biscuts and cheese to finish off. There,nestling in a plastic 100g tray,were these Thai bites in oriental spice flavour with a platter of assorted cheeses. She had two flavours to choose from;the sea weed and the oriental spice. I had already decided I would cook the main course and dessert from scratch, however I felt I needed some inspiration with the starter. Help with this came in the form of these Thai Style Fish cakes with fragrant coconut & coriander and an acacia honey & ginger glaze, from the Marks & Spencer's cook fish range.
